Downfall

12/15/2025

No one knows how many days have passed. All we can do is watch in silence—a one-sided massacre, one person against an endless army.

Wraithshade was so exhausted he could barely stand, yet the siege continued. He pleaded for our help countless times, but not a single one of us responded.

We simply watched from the sidelines, witnessing Wraithshade’s downfall.

"Yuna, think carefully. In the end, who helped you, who gave you release from suffering? It was me—I helped you. Do you not remember this kindness?"

Wraithshade drifted over again, his body riddled with arrows. With a thunderous crash, a massive green glow struck him. The gigantic bone monster beside us spewed a biting ghostly aura, and once again, Wraithshade was knocked into the center.

A chorus of wails echoed as Wraithshade kept screaming, while the giant eagle knights surrounding him launched another attack.

Another surge of green light appeared beside us.

"A bunch of outsiders have arrived—people from The Dark Banquet and The Immortality Society. They're planning to come in. Should I let them in?"

Yuna Ji giggled, while Mona Ouyang immediately glared at her in anger.

"Can you not make things more complicated? Let’s take care of Wraithshade first. How many lost souls does he have left?"

"No idea. There’s a lot left. Unless this goes on for ten days or half a month, it’s not happening."

Redmond snorted coldly.

"If we go by twenty-four hours a day, that’s 86,400 seconds. If we kill one lost soul every second, it’ll take at least a thousand days—over three years. Sigh, it’s impossible in the short term."

Yuna Ji’s eyes widened.

"That long?"

Even I was shocked. John Chou stared coldly at Wraithshade in the distance.

"That’s assuming he doesn’t break out of this form. Though he has power, he can’t escape the domain, and in your domain, he suffers immense damage. Normal arrows and blades can kill his lost souls. He uses his lost souls to negate any harm, so as Redmond said, if you kill one every second, it adds up. But it’s actually more—especially when arrows rain down, he takes tens of thousands of hits every second. In a few days, his lost souls will be depleted."

As soon as John Chou finished speaking, Yuna Ji giggled again.

"You should’ve said so earlier. That’s much better."

At that moment, Leonard Lei and Joseph Qiao, who had been fighting Wraithshade, withdrew. More and more skeletal archers crawled out from the ground, raising their arrows and aiming at Wraithshade.

The sky ahead was filled with arrows. Skeletons raised their bows and crossbows, firing relentlessly, never stopping. Wraithshade struggled madly in the rain of arrows.

"It’s almost time. With such violent impacts, his lost souls are dying fast. He might be about to risk everything."

John Chou spoke. Yuna Ji merged into the city wall, then reappeared on the throne, picking up her emerald-green spear.

Suddenly, a loud buzzing erupted. In an instant, Wraithshade howled in the sky. The human faces on his body vanished, and a black vortex shield appeared around him, blocking all the arrows. He returned to his original form, his long hair swirling.

With a bang, the shield shattered. Arrows pierced his body, and he instantly turned into drifting sand, falling down. With a whoosh, Leonard Lei charged forward, swinging his giant axe. Wraithshade blocked with twin maces, but the arrows followed immediately.

Leonard Lei exerted force, and as Wraithshade flew back, his body suddenly split, dividing into nine. The air was filled with their whistling. One tangled with Leonard Lei, while the other eight flew toward Yuna Ji. The remaining eight generals charged up.

The rain of arrows didn’t stop. The skeletons kept firing.

"By doing this, he takes nine times the damage. His lost souls will be consumed even faster."

John Chou spoke, and Lord Shenyan nodded.

"Using ghost techniques in a human body is powerful, but against such a massive army, it’s useless. He has no advantage in numbers—in fact, it puts him at a disadvantage."

Suddenly, all our eyes widened. A wisp of black mist appeared in front of Yuna Ji, and the nine Wraithshades in the sky instantly turned to dust and vanished.

The clatter of chains echoed. As Yuna Ji raised her emerald-green spear, Wraithshade had already locked an iron ring around her neck. Nine black chains extended from the ring, stabbing into the ground. Instantly, I saw the surrounding skeletons and nine generals freeze in place.

"You let your guard down, Yuna Ji. Heh, didn’t expect this, did you? I win."

With a snap, Wraithshade pressed his palms together. A rumble sounded as nine black pillars rose from nine directions, each topped with one of the Dragon’s nine sons.

"You claimed to be the emperor, didn’t you, Yuna Ji?"

Yuna Ji could no longer move. She struggled, and with a crash, her emerald-green spear fell to the ground.

"Nine-Dragon Ghost Bind..."

A black shield instantly appeared around Yuna Ji. Suddenly, the nine black pillars came alive—the dragon sons slithered out from the pillars, climbed to the top, opened their jaws, and the chains flew into their mouths, slowly lifting Yuna Ji up.

I panicked and flew up, but a hand immediately grabbed me.

"Brother, don’t rush. This is Yuna Ji’s domain. That spell is strong, but compared to the domain, it’s nothing but a grain of sand in the ocean."

I swallowed hard as Wraithshade’s wild laughter echoed over.

Black currents snaked along the chains, slowly seeping into Yuna Ji’s body. Her body began to blacken and harden.

"Though I can’t kill you, I can seal you."

Gradually, Yuna Ji turned as hard and black as stone. Wraithshade kept forming seals, and strange red symbols crawled over Yuna Ji’s body.

With a snap, Wraithshade pressed his palms together. The giant pillars began to sink, and bizarre cries echoed from the mouths of the nine dragon sons. Yuna Ji’s body slowly sank with the pillars.

But suddenly, with a bang, when Yuna Ji hit the ground, she stopped moving and didn’t sink with the pillars. Wraithshade looked around in terror.

"She didn’t disappear—why?"

A whooshing sound echoed. Wraithshade stared wide-eyed as the nine generals stepped onto the platform, not attacking but standing respectfully to the side.

"Doesn’t matter anymore."

With a whoosh, Wraithshade flew up and quickly reached the city wall’s edge, pressing his hand to the wall. With a boom, a hole appeared, but as he raised his hands, the wall healed itself instantly.

"Why? I’ve sealed her—her domain should vanish."

"That’s not how it works, Wraithshade. If you can’t destroy the domain’s creator, the domain won’t disappear."

John Chou stood at the city wall and said this. Wraithshade turned, eyes wide.

A cracking sound echoed as the black substance on Yuna Ji’s surface began to flake away, revealing her smiling face.

"Is that all you’ve got, Wraithshade? You’ll never defeat me. The power of realms and domains is beyond your comprehension. Even with a few Buddha statues, you couldn’t harm me at all."

With a series of booms, the nine giant pillars suddenly shot up. Yuna Ji roared in anger, the black scabs on her body shattered, and the pillars exploded. Chains broke apart as she grabbed the iron ring at her neck, tore it off, picked up her spear, and leapt high into the air.

A strange cry sounded as nine differently colored lights drifted down from the sky. A bird with nine plumes—Nine-Plume Bird—flew swiftly by. Yuna Ji mounted its back, spear in hand, and charged at Wraithshade.

"It’s time to end this, Wraithshade."

With a whoosh, Yuna Ji, riding the giant Nine-Plume Bird, reached Wraithshade. At that moment, I noticed a green glow in Lord Shenyan’s body, followed by a blue light—a crying bird flew out, the Azure Luan. I swallowed hard; the Azure Luan was flying toward the Nine-Plume Bird.

Yuna Ji lifted Wraithshade with her spear, tossing him into the air. With a burst of strength, she soared upward. Wraithshade clung desperately to the spear.

"Yuna Ji, can you let me go? Spare me."

"Die."

With a boom, a massive nine-colored shockwave instantly tore Wraithshade’s body apart. He screamed in agony, disintegrating into ashes in the light.

Yuna Ji swung her spear as the two birds in the sky seemed to frolic together—the Azure Luan chasing the Nine-Plume Bird, both crying out in excitement.

On the ground, the scattered dust reformed into Wraithshade’s body. He lay there, eyes filled with desolation.

"Looks like it’s over. Your lost souls are gone. Now for the final blow, Wraithshade. After all these years of grudges, it’s time to put an end to it."

With a whoosh, Yuna Ji landed, spear plunging into Wraithshade’s heart. He raised his hand, whimpering in pain, his gaze mournful, tears spilling from his eyes.

"It’s not over—not yet. I still have to witness everything, witness it all, Yuna Ji..."
