Impressive

In the end, this whole incident was simply classified as a traffic accident.

Evan Lin wasn't worried about it at all.

The burly man walked beside Evan, glancing nervously at the boy, sweat pouring down his forehead. Originally, they'd planned to use Joy Zheng as leverage to force Evan to come with them to the Liu family.

The Daoist had already set everything up at the Liu residence, just waiting for Evan to arrive so he could kill him in one strike.

But no one expected this boy to appear out of nowhere and destroy the entire van!

That van was packed with burly men—just the weight alone was enormous.

The burly man didn't even dare think about how that vehicle had been sent flying. It was simply beyond belief.

Now, just looking at Evan made his legs go weak.

"We... we're here. This is the place."

The burly man led Evan to the Liu family's mansion, where the villa's front gate stood wide open before them.

Evan glanced up, nodded slightly, and said, "You can get lost now."

The burly man beside Evan, face full of anxiety, was stunned at first when he heard Evan's words. Then he quickly thanked him and stumbled out, rushing away.

The feeling of surviving a disaster made him breathe a huge sigh of relief.

He only survived because he let Joy Zheng go earlier. If they'd tried to hold her hostage, not even a god could've saved his life.

As for the others, touching Evan's reverse scale meant being burned alive—a light punishment. If it were the old Evan, he might've ripped out their souls and refined them on the spot.

Evan had no intention of letting Joy Zheng know his true strength. If he beat up a whole group of men in front of her, who knows what she'd think after this.

Honestly, all Joy Zheng ever wanted was for Evan to live happily. Unlike other parents, she didn't care much about him becoming some big success. Her only worry was that he'd get bullied at school, fail to get into a good college, or end up in a bad job and be looked down on—that would break her heart.

Countless thoughts flashed through Evan's mind. He shook his head slightly and stepped inside.

The Liu family was old money in Whitewood County, with deep pockets. Their Liu Real Estate business made a fortune every year. In the past, Evan never would've had a chance to step into a mansion like this.

But as they say, thirty years east, thirty years west—the tables have turned.

Times really have changed.

"You came, Evan!" On the villa's second floor, Harvey Yang stood there, head lowered, staring at Evan and taking a deep breath.

Harvey's heart still trembled a bit when he saw Evan arrive.

Originally, he'd planned to grab Joy Zheng first, but when Harvey saw the burly man run away at the front gate, he knew the men he'd sent out were probably all finished.

"So, are you ready to die yet?"

Evan nodded, his tone calm and voice soft, but every word landed like a heavy punch, making Harvey's face turn even paler.

But then Harvey remembered the Daoist sitting inside and steadied himself. He glared at Evan and said coldly, "You want me dead? Let's see if you're up to it!"

"First you hurt my sons, then you ruined my business. Today, I want to see if you can leave here alive!" Harvey slammed his hand on the railing in front of him.

"Where do you get your confidence from, anyway?"

Evan narrowed his eyes.

As soon as Harvey finished speaking, there was a loud clang—the villa's first-floor door swung open. Inside, it was pitch black, not a trace of light.

"Brat, do you dare come in?"

A cold, indifferent voice echoed from inside, carrying a hint of menace.

"You really think hiring some third-rate Daoist makes you my enemy?"

Evan sneered and strode toward the doorway. "Harvey Yang, I'll spare you for now—just so you can watch your so-called backup crumble."

"How clueless can you be?"

Harvey, standing on the second-floor balcony, turned pale and grew anxious at Evan's words. Only when Evan entered the hall and the door slammed shut did Harvey take a deep breath, trying to steady himself.

"Boss Yang, should we... should we leave now?" The man in the suit asked anxiously.

"Leave? Where would we even go?" Harvey shook his head and sneered. "Are all the Daoist's ritual items ready?"

"Everything's ready. We were supposed to lure Evan here tonight, but he showed up early. Still, we've prepared everything just as the Daoist ordered."

The suited man nodded from behind Harvey, remembering all the things they'd prepared for the Daoist. The thought made him shiver.

"That's good!" Harvey took a deep breath. "Let's see how the Daoist deals with that brat!"

"Even if he brings those three female ghosts with him, they're not leaving alive!"

Harvey was deeply wary of the Three Maiden Spirits, but thinking about how Evan had crippled Yang Binhong and Yang Binwei, and cost him a fortune on the project, filled him with rage.

First-floor hall.

Evan stepped inside, and the door automatically slammed shut behind him.

With a thunderous sound, all the light from outside was cut off.

Evan's gaze was cold as he scanned the room.

The hall was pitch black. All the windows were sealed with yellow talisman papers, each covered in bizarre symbols drawn not just in cinnabar, but also streaked with the stench of fresh blood.

"You really dared to come?"

A cold voice spoke from the darkness.

"Putting on airs with your tricks."

Evan snorted coldly.

As Evan finished speaking, orange candle flames flickered to life in the pitch-black hall.

The candlelight illuminated the hall, pushing back the darkness.

Not far away stood an altar table.

On the altar, a Daoist sat cross-legged.

The Daoist slowly opened his eyes, his expression cold. He looked at Evan and spoke, "You deliberately caused harm, crippled others, and disrupted their fortune. That already violates the Heavenly Way."

"Do you admit your guilt?"

The Daoist looked over at Evan.

"Violate the Heavenly Way? You think sitting at an altar and learning a few beginner spells makes you Heaven's agent?"

Evan shook his head slightly. "I'll give you a chance—show me all your tricks now, or you might end up dead before you even get to make a move. That would be too boring."
