Feeling Safe With Him

12/19/2025

That night, the guards lurking inside Lucky Star were all knocked out as expected.

Charles Sun sent people to check and made sure everything was foolproof. Then he personally led his best men, opened the secret chamber, and moved everything out. Afterward, he destroyed the chamber's switch, so no one could enter again.

Charles Sun had been running things in Danyang City for years—he was resourceful and well-connected.

He’d already bribed the North City Gate, so in the middle of the night, everything was quietly shipped out…

Grace lay on her bed, legs crossed, waiting.

It wasn’t until dawn that Cutie Pie finally returned.

Grace quickly grabbed him and asked, "Do you know where they moved the stuff?"

Cutie Pie nodded.

"Haha! You’ll take me there later."

Cutie Pie nodded again.

He really wanted to transform into human form and go with her.

To give her a sense of security.

But he really couldn't do it.

He truly didn't know any duplication techniques...

"Alright, I don’t know why, but I’ll follow your advice," Grace said.

Cutie Pie dove into her arms.

"You stayed up all night, you must be tired. Let me take you into my sanctum for a good sleep." Grace brought him inside, placing him in the nest she’d made just for him.

But once inside, she discovered the spiritual energy was gone again.

After adding a few pieces of Earth Spirit Jade to the illusion array, Grace went to the lakeside to check on Beanie.

To her surprise, Beanie had grown taller again.

Its stalk had hardened and grown bark. Two tender leaves sprouted from the top.

"Huh, Little Beanie, how did you end up like this? You look like a sapling now…"

Beanie couldn't speak, so it patted one of its pods, though Grace couldn't tell what it meant.

"You’re a black bean, you should grow into a bean sprout—how did you become a little tree? What a weirdo!" Grace muttered to herself.

Weirdo?

The bean sprout seemed sad; its two leaves folded together, and water droplets appeared on top.

"Hey, are you going to cry again? I didn’t mean you’re a weirdo! I just meant you’re… special." Grace comforted it. "You’re a one-of-a-kind bean sprout in this world."

So the bean sprout stopped crying and swayed gently.

Grace patted it.

It really was an endearing little bean sprout…

...

In the morning, Grace—as usual—went to greet her grandmother.

Lena went too.

Ever since Leon Zane gave Lena that bowl of medicine, she had become just like a normal person.

Everyone kept the truth from her, so she thought she was cured and went to greet the Old Madam every day.

"Lena," said the Old Madam. "You’re still weak. Just come visit me on the first and fifteenth of each month. You don’t need to greet me every day."

"Mother, I’m already much better now! I wish I could make up for all the greetings I missed before. How could I be lazy and not come?" Lena said with a smile.
