Mimi Throws a Tantrum (2)

12/2/2025

Although Emperor Augustus disguised himself and hid his whereabouts, taking great care along the way, two days was more than enough for Ethan Gray to track him down.

Ethan Gray looked at the message in his hand and sneered. Run? Did he really think he could escape?

The paper in his hand was crushed into powder and scattered in the wind. Suddenly, Ethan Gray frowned, a trace of worry in his eyes. What was wrong with Yuna? She would never leave with Emperor Augustus for no reason.

"Stop them!"

"Yes, sir!" Lynn Yee was about to relay the order, but Ethan Gray suddenly raised his hand to stop him. "Forget it, never mind."

Uh... Lynn Yee glanced at him. The prince had always been decisive—why was he acting so hesitant now?

What Ethan Gray worried about was Yuna. For the past two days, Yuna had been with Emperor Augustus, and yet nothing bad had happened to him. That was far too strange. He figured the chance of Yuna being tricked was slim—even if he always called her foolish, she wouldn't mess up at a critical moment. If she hadn't been deceived, then she must have been forcibly taken away. With Yuna's temperament, it wouldn't be easy to kidnap her unless she was unable to resist.

If that was really the case, then if the two sides clashed, she might get hurt by accident. Anyway, Emperor Augustus wouldn't dare mistreat her, so Ethan Gray decided to chase them himself. Let Emperor Augustus run for a couple more days—he just hoped that foolish girl wouldn't wander off again, or she'd end up hungry.

Suddenly realizing something, Ethan Gray frowned in frustration. Why hadn't he thought of this sooner? "Lynn Yee, have someone follow Yuna in secret. Don't let her go hungry." He couldn't openly pursue and block them, but he could at least have someone track her from the shadows!

At that moment, Emperor Augustus was extremely tense. He tightened the reins, sat ramrod straight, and stared ahead. The young eunuch disguised as a coachman looked at his rigid back, puzzled—he had never seen His Majesty like this before.

Not far from them, a fine steed was carrying two people on its back. Their figures gradually came into view. Although the horse was a rare and excellent one, it wasn’t being used to hurry along. At this moment, it was simply strolling forward, step by step—yes, walking, not running at all. In fact, it was slower than a person on foot!

No one knew who was riding that horse. Since they weren’t in a hurry, were they just out for a midnight ride? But why come all the way to this remote wilderness for that?

Finally, the carriage passed safely by the two riders. Emperor Augustus let out a sigh of relief, only then realizing his back was drenched with sweat.

Behind them, Damien Gray stroked his chin and murmured, "Why do I feel like that person is suspicious?" It was as if they were afraid of him.

Morgan Shangguan shifted in his arms to a more comfortable position and laughed softly. "Could it be someone you bullied before?"

Damien Gray lowered his head and nuzzled her neck, looking innocent. "When have I ever bullied anyone? Momo, you're wronging me—I’ll be so sad."

Morgan Shangguan raised an eyebrow. "So?"

"So, let’s find a place to rest for a bit! Comfort my wounded heart first." As he spoke, his hand was already slipping inside her collar.

Morgan Shangguan was used to his shamelessness and just rolled her eyes. "We came back to see Ethan and Roxy—don’t you miss them?"

"Hmm... I do." If he said he didn’t, she’d accuse him of being heartless.

Morgan Shangguan slapped away his wandering hand. "Then hurry up and get moving."

"Momo, we've been traveling day and night without stopping." He wasn’t wrong—it was the middle of the night, and they hadn’t rested at all. Wasn’t that traveling day and night?

The pace, however, left much to be desired.

Morgan Shangguan couldn’t be bothered to argue with him, so she lazily asked, "How much longer until we reach the capital?"

"Well..." He suddenly paused, prompting Morgan Shangguan to turn and look at him.

Damien Gray gave a gentle smile. "Momo, I think we’re going the wrong way." Apparently, they were heading further from the capital.

After years of wandering in every direction, he’d gotten used to it. So it was no wonder they’d drifted off course.

Morgan Shangguan frowned and sighed. "Then let’s find an inn to rest, and turn back afterward!"

To find an inn, they’d have to enter a town first. It seemed the nearest town was still quite far away—maybe turning back would actually be closer. Was this Ghost King’s consort and Cloud Sect leader truly missing her children?

Damien Gray, of course, had no objections. In fact, he was all for it. "We should definitely find an inn and get some rest."

Emperor Augustus only truly relaxed after entering the city. It wasn’t just a guilty conscience—deep down, he harbored a long-standing fear of Damien Gray.

Thanks to Autumn Su’s constant teachings, the Ghost King had always seemed like an unattainable demon to Emperor Augustus. So, whenever he saw Damien Gray, he couldn’t help but feel uneasy.

This was probably not what Autumn Su had intended. She only wanted to motivate Emperor Augustus, to make him realize that mastering the river required extra effort. But instead, it left him unable to muster any resistance against Damien Gray—and he certainly hadn’t inherited her ambition.

After finding an inn to rest for a while, Emperor Augustus still kept his disguise but no longer tried to hide his movements. He figured Ethan Gray must already know his whereabouts by now, so there was no point in hiding.

The past two days had turned their schedule upside down. After traveling all night, it was impossible to keep going during the day, so they rested by day and continued on at night.

At dinner time, Yuna once again got lost in the inn’s backyard, bored as she dug at the dirt. She was getting hungry.

Just then, she caught the scent of food and couldn’t help but swallow. Following the aroma, she found a plate on a big rock by the fake mountain, with a steaming chicken leg that looked absolutely delicious.

Yuna looked around—no one was there! Well, she wouldn’t be polite, then. Worst case, she’d let that dog emperor pay for the meal later.
