Path to the Human King

Evan Chu hadn’t expected these people to suddenly attack him and Lillian Zhang. He immediately roared, "If you really don't care about the lives of the king-city’s citizens, then this young master will give you something big today—let you know what kind of person you absolutely can't afford to provoke!"

Right after, he unleashed his Dragon King’s Dominion, sending a wave of sovereign aura surging toward the city's powerhouses. At the same time, he released Lillian Zhang’s wrist—now he just needed to inject a stream of wood-element power to neutralize the poison in her body.

But with the situation so urgent, Evan and Lillian were standing face to face—there was no time to reach her back. Evan simply pressed his palm directly to her chest.

Immediately, a soft, yielding sensation spread from his palm. Lillian’s chest really was impressive, and Evan felt a ripple of emotion—but it quickly faded as he focused, channeling wood-element energy into her body.

Lillian Zhang hadn’t expected this guy to put his hand right on her chest. Anger flared in her heart, but just as she was about to explode, she sensed a strange power inside her body. Evan hurriedly said, "Don’t move, it’ll be over soon!"

The Dragon King’s Dominion stunned the powerhouses for a moment, but it didn’t stop their attacks. Almost at the same time, Evan shouted to Jade Chu, "Jade, defend with everything you’ve got—protect us both!"

Just as the first wave of attackers struck at Evan and Lillian, a cyan barrier suddenly appeared around them. "Bang! Bang!" Several loud crashes rang out as all their attacks slammed into the shield, the massive rebound force sending them flying.

Quite a few people were even injured by the backlash, all staring wide-eyed at the strange barrier. At that moment, Evan took his hand off Lillian’s chest. Seeing her face flushed red, like a ripe apple, he couldn’t help but glance at her.

"We’ll settle this later—taking advantage of me in a crisis!" Lillian snapped.

"I’m saving your life, detoxing you! Don’t be ungrateful! Didn’t you see I almost got killed by these guys? What more do you want? Just circulate your Netherforce now—you’ll be back to normal soon," Evan said with a grin.

Lillian Zhang didn’t say another word and began circulating her Netherforce. She found the mysterious energy Evan Chu had injected into her body surprisingly effective—at first, she could only move a trickle of Netherforce, but gradually she could control more and more, until finally she was able to circulate it completely. Her impression of Evan’s abilities grew even deeper.

Just then, Evan Chu spoke up: “Honestly, I don’t want to kill you all. As long as you’re willing to submit to her, that’s enough. Or maybe ‘submit’ isn’t the right word—you can be her friends, live the same lives you did before. I guarantee that following her will be far more promising than sticking with Zander Xiang.”

Because I can promise you this—the Shade Clan and Netherkin won’t invade the Human race. If it weren’t for me, humanity would’ve already been conquered by the Netherkin right now. My goal is to create a three-way balance of power. You all have family, you have friends—don’t act on impulse. The Poison King’s toxins are useless against me; I’m immune to all poisons, and I can kill even Sixth-Layer Venerable experts.

Do you really think you can escape from me? I’m willing to spare all of you—except the Poison King and Harold Hong. If you look down on her just because she’s a woman, you’re dead wrong. Her strength is every bit as great as Zander Xiang’s, maybe even stronger. Think carefully before you force my hand.”

Evan Chu’s words were a mix of threat and persuasion, but his overwhelming defensive and offensive power filled everyone with fear. In this world where strength is everything, power is the ultimate means of conquest.

“Don’t listen to him! As long as we capture that woman, he’ll have no choice but to give in. If we let a woman become Human King, how are we men supposed to hold our heads high?” The Poison King, sensing things were going south, immediately shouted.

“Poison King, you’re dead this time. No one can save you. If I, Evan Chu, don’t kill you, I swear I’m not human!” Evan’s voice was low and cold, each word like the language of a demon.

A middle-aged man, convinced by the Poison King’s argument, roared furiously: “Submit to a woman? Dream on! If it were you, maybe we’d consider it. Her? Maybe in her next life!”

“Is that so?!” Lillian Zhang had already completely neutralized the poison in her body. She glanced at the middle-aged man, then in a flash, her figure blurred as she shot forward, a razor-thin sword appearing in her hand. A streak of white light—then the man collapsed to the ground, and Lillian was standing back in her original spot.

She moved so fast that most people didn’t even react. Only when they saw the lifeless body on the floor did they realize how terrifying this woman was—she was every bit as strong as Evan Chu. Fear showed on every face.

The man’s face was still twisted in anger, as if frozen in the moment he shouted. There was no sign of pain, but his eyes were closed. The only mark was a faint red line across his neck.

“Gui’er!” An old man immediately rushed to the corpse, cradling it in his arms. When he realized his son was dead, his whole body trembled. After gently laying the body down, he turned to Lillian Zhang and shouted, “How dare you kill my Gui’er! Today you die!”

Evan Chu and Lillian Zhang exchanged a faint, jaded smile. They’d heard threats like this too many times—the ones who shout loudest about killing them are always the first to die. By now, they were used to it.

“You want me dead? Let’s see if you’ve got the skills, old man. Fourth-Layer Venerable, huh? You’re nothing but an ant to me, and your so-called space domain means nothing.” Lillian Zhang laughed.

The old man couldn’t bear the pain of losing his son. A massive sword appeared in his hand, its blade instantly glowing fiery red—clearly, he was a fire-attribute cultivator.

A Fourth-Layer Venerable expert is no joke—one serious attack could destroy most of the royal capital. If Lillian Zhang was going to become Human King, the city couldn’t be leveled… or at least, not too badly.

Evan Chu quickly asked Jade Chu, “Jade, is there any way to protect the royal capital? If it gets wrecked, there’s not much point in winning the Human King’s seat.”

“Big Brother, I can’t help you with that. The royal capital is way too big for me to shield. But you could ask Tom Chu—I bet he can do it. For some things, he’s even better than I am.” Jade Chu replied.

“Tom Chu? Tom can do it?” Evan Chu asked in surprise.
