Threading the Needle

Hiding within the Sunwell's protective dome and waiting to be besieged is absolutely not Quinn Shepherd's style. His way is to seize any opportunity and deliver a deadly blow with thunderous force.

Butcher once told him: spotting an opportunity isn't hard—it's grabbing it that makes a hero. Spotting an opportunity but just squatting there, doing nothing, makes you a coward.

Many who were stronger than Butcher still ended up defeated by him, precisely because Butcher was bold and relentless—never hesitating, never looking back. Whenever he saw a chance, he seized it!

The opportunity Quinn seized this time was while that demon god was busy using its sharp mouth to funnel Heavy-Body demons into the Sunwell, unable to break away. At that moment, he piloted the Solar Ark to smash through the world formed by the Sunwell, swung the chained sun, and pulverized his foe!

Being trapped inside the Sunwell, just defending against enemy attacks—that's not his style. That would mean following the enemy's rhythm, letting them attack however they like.

Instead, he needed to fight on his own terms—break out and attack, strike directly at the enemy leader, and take them down.

You do your thing, I do mine. If I win, you die.

It's just that simple.

That's the essence of Butcher's saber technique.

The Sun-Herder Clan Chief's body was still a bit limp. He watched as Quinn Shepherd rattled the chains, dragging back the sun that had just crushed the Heavy-Body Demon God. That blazing sun scorched everything around it, turning the ground into bubbling magma.

He was controlling the complete Solar Ark. Although this vessel was meant to tow the sun from east to west, it also possessed formidable offensive power. When Crystal Blaze commanded the Solar Ark before, the sun had been extinguished, so she couldn’t unleash the ship’s full might. Now that Quinn Shepherd had reignited the sun, its terrifying power burst forth!

The solar true fire was terrifying, but it barely harmed the Sun-Herders. From childhood, they lived aboard this ship, breathing pure yang qi, and had built up immense resistance to the true fire.

Meanwhile, Lina the Spirit Fox, Lynn Ling, and Serena Yunxiang were fighting alongside the flood-dragons and the Dragon-Qilin in the sky. The solar true fire didn’t reach their battlefield. The little fox stood excitedly atop the ink-black flood-dragon, shouting and cheering, though she contributed little to the actual fight.

Compared to the flood-dragon horde, her strength was negligible.

Quinn burned countless Heavy-Body demons to ash, but the three gigantic ones on deck survived. They scuttled rapidly through the flames, then suddenly leapt skyward, bone wings vibrating, and dove straight toward Quinn at the center of the Solar Ark!

One of the Heavy-Body demons dove down, snatching a demon-god war halberd from a ruined hall. Instantly, demonic power erupted!

"Don’t use the sun as a club!"

The clan chief saw Quinn about to swing the sun and shouted, "If you smash it again, you’ll really break it! Let us old bones hold them off instead!"

"Troublesome!"

Quinn stopped, scanning the surroundings for the true body of the Heavy-Body Demon God.

The clan chief shouted, summoning several elders to join the battle against the three enormous Heavy-Body demons. These monsters were so massive and powerful that even when fighting the clan chief and elders, they held their ground.

The clan chief snatched up a bronze bell, striking it with a thunderous clang. This was no ordinary treasure—runes glowed across its surface. Whenever it rang, rings of solar fireballs spun out from the bell, blasting at the enemies.

But the broken halberd was a demon-god weapon, easily cleaving through all the divine arts unleashed by the bronze bell. It was terrifyingly powerful.

Quinn swept his gaze around, seeing the darkness of the Great Ruins was deep and impenetrable—he had no idea where the true body of the Heavy-Body Demon God was hiding.

Suddenly, heavy footsteps echoed from the darkness, shaking the ground. The sound came from all directions, growing faster and faster—then abruptly vanished, replaced by sharp gusts slicing through the air.

The piercing wind was unnerving. Quinn’s heart sank as he saw giant Heavy-Body demons soaring out of the darkness, heading straight for the Solar Ark!

"So it really wasn’t the true body!"

Quinn’s heart stirred. The Worryless Sword suddenly flew from its sheath, hovering motionless in the air.

High above the Solar Ark, the sun hung overhead. The Sun-Herder warriors gripped their weapons, tense and anxious, staring upward as massive demon monsters blotted out the sunlight, casting a shadow so vast it was suffocating.

At that moment, sword light exploded—the center of the Solar Ark seemed to birth a silver sun. Terrifying sword intent and sword qi shot out in all directions like sunlight!

In an instant, the Worryless Sword’s divine power swept the sky. Black rain fell as countless severed limbs crashed down, nearly covering the deck of the Solar Ark!

Yet one demon dodged every sword beam, flying straight to the four control pillars and darting between them, heading right for Quinn.

Buzz—

The Heavy-Body demon’s enormous central eye flashed with black light, shining directly at Quinn!

Its four claws clamped onto Quinn’s chest, sinking deep into his flesh. The black light from the demon’s eye grew darker and darker, as if it could swallow everything—even one’s soul would be lost in that abyss.

The people on deck cried out. The clan chief and elders’ faces changed dramatically—they abandoned their fight with the three giant demons and raced toward Quinn, but those monsters immediately intercepted them, not letting anyone come to his rescue.

"You’re only here because I let you get this close."

Quinn stared straight into the demon’s eye, his own gaze sharp. "I’m using your assimilation to find out where your real body is hiding!"

The demon’s eye locked onto Quinn’s, and suddenly his mind was flooded with countless voices. In a flash, he seemed to see a forest of shadows in the darkness—each one the figure of a Heavy-Body demon.

Everything else vanished from his sight, leaving only a forest made of Heavy-Body figures. The forest spread wider and wider, covering more and more ground—tens of thousands, then millions of demon forms surged outward!

Those demons’ thoughts surged together, forming a torrent that flooded Quinn’s mind, trying to assimilate him.

Quinn activated the Overlord Three-Core Art, fusing his Spirit Embryo and soul. Instantly, a blazing inner sun appeared in his mind, orbiting his Spirit Embryo and guarding his spiritual platform, burning the invading thoughts to ash.

But the flood of shadowy figures in the darkness kept growing, and even Quinn felt a chill—so many Heavy-Body demons, their thoughts merging, were about to drown his spirit platform.

Once his spirit platform was breached, his Spirit Embryo wouldn’t last long before being assimilated by the Heavy-Body demons. He had to locate the Demon God’s true body before his defenses fell!

At that moment, his gaze seemed to leap across layer upon layer of mountains and rivers, finally landing on a Demon God sprawled between two peaks.

It was a Heavy-Body Demon God, lying between two great mountains, its limbs braced against the slopes. A river flowed between them, and behind the Demon God yawned a massive gate.

From that enormous gate, tides of Heavy-Body demons surged forth, flooding toward him!

Countless Heavy-Body demons raced along the river and flew overhead, devouring one another to become ever larger and more monstrous.

The instant Quinn “saw” the Demon God, the latter also “saw” him. The Demon God raised its head, its massive eye showing confusion, as if it didn’t understand.

Then, the Demon God, stretched between the mountains, noticed a growing light in the darkness—a blazing sun hurtling closer, swelling and streaking down from above until it hovered over the river valley!

Wherever the blazing sun passed, the river instantly evaporated; every Heavy-Body demon in its way was burned to ash and steam!

The sun warped the surrounding space, making the mountains shake violently, as if giants were dancing in strange poses.

The Demon God’s long mouth muttered arcane words, its thoughts rippling into Quinn’s mind: "Kids, all you do is smash things…"

Its body shuddered, bone wings clattering. Each wing-bone shot free—every one a demon-god weapon, just like the broken halberd on the Solar Ark. They streaked toward the blazing sun!

Shh-shh-shh.

Each bone spear pierced into the sun, slowing it until it finally crashed into the valley floor, sliding forward for hundreds of yards before coming to a stop.

Crack!

The Solar Ark’s sun split in two. The Demon God grinned—only to see a giant Solar Jade Eye roll out from the broken shell. The jade eyeball, several zhang tall, spun once, its pupil snapping vertical. A blinding beam of solar light shot out, slicing the Demon God’s massive eye.

The Demon God howled, its voice shaking the heavens. It twisted aside, but the beam sliced through its eyeball and cheek, deep enough to expose bone.

As it dodged, behind the split sun, the Worryless Sword flashed—a streak of cold light plunged through the Demon God’s mouth, out the back of its skull, then reversed and threaded through again, in and out in rapid succession.

The Worryless Sword darted in and out like a needle, weaving through the Demon God’s skull hundreds of times in an instant. Then it spun around the Demon God’s neck like a wire, moving with blinding speed!

Suddenly, the sword light snapped tight—the Demon God’s skull, riddled with holes, wobbled, and its mountain-sized head slid off its neck, tumbling through the gate behind it. The sound of its rolling echoed across the valley.
