Belle Is About to Give Birth
After finishing his duties at the palace, Alexander Hayes couldn't wait to rush back to Prince of Qin's Manor to be with Lily Evans.
But as soon as he entered the manor, he saw chaos everywhere—everyone was running around, chickens flying, dogs barking, total pandemonium.
"What happened?" Alexander grabbed Sean Hayes and asked.
Sean hurriedly replied, "My Lord, Belle is about to give birth! Her Highness is with her, and the rest of us are helping out. Her Highness sent me to fetch Simon Yu to oversee things."
"Alright, go quickly," Alexander said.
Sean dashed off to find Simon Yu, who was busy teaching Quentin Lin medicine in the study. When Sean explained the situation, Simon Yu pulled a face like he'd bitten into a bitter melon: "Why do you always call me for this stuff? I'm not a midwife!"
Sean immediately said, "Hey, this was Her Highness's idea! I'm just following orders here!"
Quentin Lin, on the other hand, was downright excited—it was his first time seeing someone he knew have a baby!
Quentin eagerly dragged Simon Yu toward Prince of Qin's Manor, saying, "Brother Simon, if Sister asked you to come, she must have her reasons! Just go! I'll go with you!"
Simon Yu looked at Quentin Lin's excited face and couldn't help but laugh and cry at the same time. As Quentin pulled him along, Simon said, "Quentin, what's with you? A woman having a baby and you're this excited! It's not like she's giving birth to your son."
Quentin Lin dragged Simon Yu over, but honestly, Simon couldn’t do much to help. Belle’s baby was positioned perfectly, she was healthy, and as long as there was no unlucky postpartum bleeding, everything should go smoothly. Simon’s role here was less useful than a midwife, so he was parked in Belle’s side room, munching snacks and waiting just in case he was needed for an emergency.
Quentin, meanwhile, was buzzing with excitement, darting in and out to check out all the birthing supplies the maids and aunties were preparing.
Inside the birthing room, Lily Evans was by Belle’s side, with Eugene Jr. the steward hovering nearby, his face pale with worry.
Soon enough, Margaret Evans arrived and called Lily out: "Lily, you’re pregnant yourself—this place isn’t right for you. Go wait in the side room, and I’ll stay with Belle."
Lily remembered the old tradition: women who hadn’t given birth yet weren’t supposed to go into the birthing room. Seeing blood and the ordeal could scare them and make their own future deliveries harder.
With only two months left until her own due date, Lily knew Margaret was right. She went to join Simon Yu in the side room to wait.
Margaret Evans, following Lily’s instructions, washed her hands and changed into a clean robe before entering the birthing room.
Belle was already drenched in sweat from the pain, with Eugene Jr. and Belle’s mother-in-law at her side.
When Margaret came in, they hurriedly greeted her with respectful bows.
Margaret said, "Belle lost her mother young, so I’m like half a mother to her. Today my girl is having a baby—I’m staying right here, and nobody’s making me leave."
Through her pain, Belle heard Margaret’s words and looked at her with deep gratitude.
Childbirth is when a woman feels most vulnerable; even if her husband is caring, it’s not the same as having her own mother there. Only with her mother by her side does she truly feel safe.
Margaret now called herself Belle’s mother, just to reassure her—whatever happened, she’d be there to protect her, so Belle could focus on delivering.
Giving birth isn’t just a physical ordeal—it’s a test of a woman’s heart. The presence of someone who truly cares makes all the difference.
