Turbulence Above the Soul-Training Palace

2/14/2026

Evan thought for a moment, then went to the fire section, picking one at random. He couldn’t read the characters above, so he had no idea who was in charge—just that this area was for Fire-Soul Power.

Next to the Newcomer Palace was the Soul-Training Palace, filled with many different sections. Each section had plenty of seats, and Evan could see lots of people dressed just like him.

Evan walked into one section. There weren’t many people—he could count them on his fingers: eight in total.

The eight people watched as Evan came in. Not wanting to draw attention, Evan purposely sat next to someone, took a seat, and waited for the legendary instructor to arrive.

“I wonder when they’ll show up?” Evan muttered to himself after waiting for a quarter of an hour.

Just then, a young woman walked in from outside. She looked about twenty, with delicate features, her hair loose and flowing down her back. A rope cinched her wide robe at the waist. In Evan’s eyes, she wasn’t especially beautiful—after all, he’d seen Winter and Ye Chen, so these people didn’t impress him much.

But the people around him stirred, especially the men, whose eyes lit up. "Can souls really have that kind of ability?" Evan wondered, seeing the guys act like they were in heat.

One after another, the guys invited the woman over, but she said nothing. Her eyes, though, drifted to Evan, who was sitting alone not far away.

"Why is she staring at me?" Evan noticed her gaze and checked himself, finding nothing out of place.

Seeing Evan’s reaction, the woman decisively walked toward him. The surrounding men saw this and instantly grew jealous.

"Is she really coming over?" Evan muttered inwardly, glancing around. There were at least fifty or sixty seats here—so why was she heading straight for him?

As Evan was muttering to himself, the woman arrived next to him, glanced at him, then sat one row behind, where she could watch his every move.

Evan used his divine sense to observe her movements behind him.

"Weird. Why is she staring at me?" Evan wondered, noticing her gaze fixed on him.

Suddenly, the woman spoke up: "I'm Bella. What's your name?"

"Hank Hawkins," Evan replied, knowing he had to use his current identity.

"From the Hawkins Clan?" Bella smiled.

"Yeah." Evan nodded.

"So, what attribute are you?" Bella smiled.

"Why do you think I'm here?" Evan knew he’d chosen the fire section for Fire-Soul Power.

Bella, feeling like Evan was mocking her, laughed: "You've got quite the attitude. Aren't you afraid of getting taught a lesson?"

"Girl, I didn’t provoke you, so don’t come looking for trouble," Evan cursed inwardly, but outwardly smiled: "I haven’t offended anyone, so what’s there to be afraid of?"

"Nice line about not offending anyone, but now you’ve offended me." Bella laughed.

"I’m done talking to you. If you’re bored, go chat with those guys." Evan didn’t want to deal with her and closed his eyes, waiting for the instructor.

Evan’s words weren’t loud or soft, but everyone heard them. Bella’s expression soured, ready to lash out. The nearby men saw this and hurried over. One burly guy sneered, "Kid, you’re really not giving her any face."

"What’s it got to do with you?" Evan didn’t want trouble, but didn’t want to be stared at either.

"Of course it does. Right, guys?" The burly man laughed.

The others all nodded. The burly man then said coldly, "Let’s give you a taste of something."

With that, the burly man waved his hand, conjuring a small flame in front of Evan. The others did the same. Evan knew anyone who got in here must have some fire ability.

Seeing these flames, Evan wasn’t afraid at all. He said, "Put your flames away—those are just kid’s tricks." At this point, Evan regretted coming here. He might as well train in his room; once his Chaotic Soul-Force reached his original Shadow-God Realm strength, he could worry about everything else.

No need to sit here with a bunch of newbies, getting threatened like this.

"Kids? You sure talk big!" The burly man was angered by Evan's words, and so were the others. Who wanted to be called a kid? But in Evan's eyes, they really were children—he'd lived for thousands of years, at least.

Bella couldn't quite figure Evan out. It seemed like he was telling the truth, but if he was just like everyone else, why call them kids?

Just as the flames were about to touch Evan, they suddenly went out. Evan was startled—it wasn't him who snuffed them out. The others were shocked too. At that moment, a woman in white robes walked in from the doorway, her whole body wrapped in white. Her overwhelming aura made everyone hurry back to their seats.

Evan was a bit surprised—she’d just walked in and extinguished all those flames. She was truly a fire-control expert, and she could even snuff out other people’s flames.

"What’s this? Practicing so diligently early in the morning?" The woman’s eyebrows were colored, giving her a seductive,妖艳 look. Compared to the young girl from before, she seemed much more mature. The men immediately shifted their gaze to her.

Bella looked a little disappointed.

Evan sighed inwardly, "Beauty brings trouble."

"What’s wrong? Cat got your tongue?" The woman smiled at the ten people in the room.

No one replied—except Bella, who said, "We're here for the lesson, so hurry up and teach."

The woman smiled at Bella. "That’s not the right way to address a senior. But I’ll forgive you this time—don’t do it again."

Bella tried to retort, but found she couldn’t speak. Evan noticed Bella’s face was red, clearly wanting to say something but unable to.

"Alright, let’s leave it at that. Next time, if anyone wants to attend my class, keep it quiet." The woman smiled.

Bella finally regained her voice, but instead of speaking loudly, she muttered, "Just wait, you’ll pay for bullying me."

Evan, sitting in front of her, heard everything clearly and thought, "This girl is really gutsy."

"Let me explain fire control. Most of you have some innate fire affinity, so as your Chaotic Soul-Force grows, your fire will naturally get stronger. With enough Chaotic Soul-Force, flight is no big deal." Elder Laura said.

Evan didn’t care about the basics; he wanted to know how to control fire most effectively.

So, Evan skipped all the simple chatter and only paid attention when she got to fire control.

In Elder Laura’s hand, the flame could take any shape—even split into multiple streams. It was like watching a performance.

Evan listened closely, focusing on how to use Chaotic Soul-Force to control fire.

He spent the whole morning listening, and finally the lesson ended. The woman smiled, "Alright, that’s it for today. If anyone wants to hear more, come back in a month. You can call me Elder Laura." With that, she left.

Bella angrily followed after Elder Laura.

Evan was about to get up when the others surrounded him.

"Kid, that beautiful senior just taught us fire control. I want to try it—can you check if I’m doing it right?" the burly man said, grinning.

"Oh? How do you want to try?" Evan asked curiously.

The burly man thought for a moment, then said, "Watch." He conjured a flame in front of Evan, just like before—it could change shape, but because his Chaotic Soul-Force was weak, the flame wasn’t strong, only able to shift forms.

"Too small, boring. Watch this." Evan smiled, waved his hand, and the flame in front of the burly man suddenly turned into a roaring blaze, leaping onto its owner.

His clothes caught fire, and everyone rushed to put it out. Evan left with a strange smile, thinking, "I used to only control my own flames, always through communicating with them. But now, I realize Chaotic Soul-Force can control someone else's fire."

That was Evan’s biggest takeaway today: using someone else’s flame to burn them. The reason the burly man got burned was because his Chaotic Soul-Force was so much weaker than Evan’s—once Evan took control, it was game over.

When the fire was finally out, the burly man’s hair was gone, his clothes were scorched, and his face was blackened with burns all over his hands.

"I’m gonna kill him! Anyone know his name?" the burly man shouted, furious.

"I think he said his surname is Huang—Hank Hawkins," someone replied.

"Fine, I’ll get revenge. Damn it!" the burly man cursed.

Even after Evan walked far away, he could still hear the angry shouts. "He wants revenge? Please—just a kid."

Soon Evan returned to his quarters and began cultivating Chaotic Soul-Force, hoping to restore his Human World strength as soon as possible.

Bella quickly caught up to Elder Laura and said, "You really embarrassed me just now."

"You little brat, you embarrassed me," Elder Laura replied with a smile.

"Don’t walk so fast, wait for me!" Bella said angrily.

"I’ve got things to do. Teaching you all today was a waste of my time. Aside from one person, the rest weren’t even paying attention," Elder Laura said, frustrated.

"That means your class wasn’t good," Bella retorted, not missing a chance to tease.

"Enough, you’re just too foolish. Others listened carefully, but you were off daydreaming or glaring at me—trying to pick a fight, right?" Elder Laura said.

"Don’t be so smug. Tell me, who was actually paying attention?" Bella was curious—she knew she hadn’t listened, and wanted to know who did.

"The guy sitting in front of you—he watched my every move from start to finish, never missing a thing. And you? You were distracted or just glaring at me, looking for trouble, weren’t you?" Elder Laura laughed.
