"Ha!" Ian Song burst out laughing. "Opposing the country? That's a mighty big hat you're trying to put on me. But let me ask you—can you really represent the country? Do you honestly think you're a congressman?"
"Ian Song, don't ruin yourself! If you keep this up, you'll come to a bad end!" Victor Wang sneered.
"Idiot!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Ian Song reached out and grabbed both Victor Wang and Ethan Chu by the throat, then flung them out the window with a single toss.
"Ah!"
"Ah!"
Two chilling screams echoed from outside the window, sending a shiver down everyone's spine.
Ian Song swept his gaze over the crowd once more and said slowly, "Is there anyone else here who wants to represent the country? Step forward and let me see."
No one dared to speak. The only sound was heavy, ragged breathing.
"Since no one wants to represent the country anymore, you'd better just listen to my instructions. A few of you, go clean out the rooms in the neighboring dorm!"
Having witnessed Ian Song's methods, no one dared to disobey. The crowd scrambled to clean out the dorm rooms.
Once the survivors were sent off, Ian Song turned to Leo Liao and the other four. "You guys need to change your mindset. The future is survival of the fittest. Now that you're stronger than ordinary people, if you run into this kind of nonsense again, just use your fists. If they still don't get it, do what I did—throw them out to feed the zombies!"
"Isn't that a bit too cruel?" Ray Wang asked.
"Cruel?"
Ian Song sneered. "Let me ask you—if I let Victor Wang set up his so-called self-rescue association, and we become part of the monster-hunting squad, then even if I face a horde of zombies, I’m confident I could protect myself.
But what about you?
I'm not looking down on you—maybe you could handle three or five zombies, but what about ten?
A hundred?
In that situation, there’s only one outcome for you: you'll be eaten by zombies! Or become one of them!
Hearing Ian Song's analysis, all five of Ray Wang's group turned pale, a chill running through their hearts.
Remember, if you want to survive in this world, you need more than just strength—you have to use your brain too. Otherwise, you'll get schemed to death without even knowing how you died!
With that, Ian Song stopped paying attention to them and went to sit and rest alone.
Night fell like water, and the roars of zombies echoed across the campus.
Ian Song moved into a single dorm room he'd cleaned out for himself.
While clearing out the men's Dorm B, he collected more than fifty Evolution Crystals.
He tossed all fifty-plus Evolution Crystals into his mouth at once.
In less than half an hour, he absorbed them all. His physical stat increased by 39 points to 4040, and his mental power rose by 5 points to 925.
"Looks like these Evolution Crystals don't do much for me anymore!"
Ian Song shook his head.
The next morning, Ian Song led Leo Liao and Kevin Zhou to keep clearing zombies and gathering food.
Mark Mao and the other two were in charge of organizing the rest of the survivors to transport food and collect Evolution Crystals.
By the end of the day, they'd cleared four men's dorm buildings, and the survivor count reached 202—just 98 short of 300. They should be able to complete the system's second mission tomorrow.
Of course, with more people come more conflicts.
Thanks to Ian Song's advice, Leo Liao, Kevin Zhou, and the others all changed a bit.
When anyone tried to stir up trouble or incite others, they didn't hesitate to use force to suppress it.
That night, Ian Song held a brief meeting with Leo Liao and the other four.
The meeting had only one agenda: selecting some people to use Evolution Crystals.
These candidates were chosen from the survivors rescued yesterday, since they'd witnessed Ian Song's tough methods and had cooperated well during today's operations.
Ian Song thought for a moment and said, "Here's the plan: each of you will form a squad, with five Evolution Crystal slots per squad. Your main job is to keep everyone safe and hunt zombies. What do you think?"
The five immediately brightened and agreed to form their own squads.
Kevin Zhou thought for a moment and said, "Ian, I have a suggestion. How about this: ordinary survivors should only get enough food to stay alive each day. Only those who join a squad can get enough food—and as for Evolution Crystals, we need to strictly control them too.
Only those who contribute have the right to use them!"
"Good idea!" Ian Song nodded. "If it were just the six of us, we wouldn’t need all these rules. But with over two hundred people, we need a system. You guys work out the details, and I’ll take charge of the Evolution Crystals. Any objections?"
"No objections!"
The five replied in unison. Right now, Ian Song seemed especially mysterious to them—not only had he predicted the apocalypse, his strength was terrifying, and most importantly, he’d discovered the Evolution Crystals. Without him, even if they'd found the crystals, they might not have known they could boost their power.
Because of this, they all started calling him 'Brother Song,' and none of them worried he’d pocket the crystals for himself.
That night, each of the five picked out their own five squad members and gave them Evolution Crystals. They began training them right away, teaching them how to kill zombies.
The next day, Ian Song led the five squads to keep clearing zombies from the men's dorm buildings.
Many hands make light work.
With the help of the five squads, the cleanup was much faster. By the end of the day, they'd wiped out every zombie in the men's dorms.
The survivor count rose to 362.
Naturally, Ian Song completed the mission and received a reward of 100 million Fame Points.
But one thing caught Ian Song by surprise.
Among today's survivors, one male student stood out to him.
His name was Jason Long. On the night the zombie outbreak began, two of his roommates turned, but unlike most, he killed them himself. Then he led his three remaining roommates to hold their dorm room.
Unlike the girls, the guys didn’t stockpile snacks in their dorm.
So by the second day of the apocalypse, their food was gone. Jason Long convinced his three roommates to leave the dorm and start clearing out other rooms, killing zombies as they went.
By the time Ian Song arrived, Jason Long had gathered fifteen students and nearly wiped out all the zombies on their floor.
After the apocalypse began, most people chose to hide or run—but Jason Long didn’t. Ian Song admired him for that, and even more because Jason was a martial artist, though not a very advanced one—just at the early Post-natal stage.
For these two reasons, Ian Song decided to cultivate Jason Long as a key subordinate.
"Brother Song, you wanted to see me?"
Jason Long came up to Ian Song, his tone calm but his eyes showing admiration and respect. He knew that in just a few days, Ian had cleared eleven dorm buildings and saved over three hundred survivors—something he himself couldn’t have done.
