Father and Daughter Pass By Each Other

The whole family happily rode the carriage to the Eight Treasures Bistro. Sam Evans was also infected by the joyful atmosphere, and his mood lightened a bit.

The carriage stopped at the entrance of Cat's Eye Alley. The family got off, and Laney curiously looked back: 'Aunt Lily, what's that building?'

Lily looked and saw that Laney was referring to Heart's Delight Bistro, owned by Princess Mira. She patiently replied, 'That's also a restaurant, called Heart's Delight Bistro.'

'Oh, Heart's Delight Bistro. Anyway, the food there can't be as delicious as Aunt Lily's restaurant!' Laney said proudly, making everyone laugh.

Lily held Laney's hand and walked ahead, followed by her uncle's family of three, with Sam Evans bringing up the rear.

The family walked a few steps into Cat's Eye Alley. Suddenly, Sam Evans heard voices behind him. He turned and saw a poorly dressed maid being thrown out of Heart's Delight Bistro by several guards. The young girl fell hard, her messy hair, sweat, and mud mixed together. Her back was to Sam Evans, so he couldn't see her face.

The two gatekeepers cursed at the girl: 'You little beggar, how many times have we told you? Heart's Delight Bistro is a high-class restaurant, not a place for lowly beggars like you! And you want to see Princess Mira? Hah! Your filthy eyes aren't worthy of seeing our princess! Get lost! If you come back, we'll beat you even harder!'

Sam Evans paused and stared at the girl on the ground, seeing her slowly get up, clearly afraid of the gatekeepers.

'Uncle Sam, why aren't you coming? What are you looking at?' Lily noticed Sam Evans hadn't caught up and called out to him.

Sam Evans snapped out of it, looked at Lily, his eyes full of confusion.

At that moment, the young girl thrown out of Heart's Delight Bistro—Cynthia Green—heard Lily's voice from Cat's Eye Alley. Instinctively, she turned her head and glared fiercely in that direction.

But Lily had already walked into the alley, so Cynthia Green didn't see her. Instead, she saw a man standing at the alley entrance, his back to her.

The man was dressed in fine clothes, his hair neat and tidy, looking every bit the wealthy gentleman.

Cynthia Green looked at the man and immediately recognized who he was.

...Dad? Cynthia Green stared at the man's back, frozen in place, her lips trembling as she whispered softly. She wanted to call out loudly, but stopped herself, biting her lip hard, her eyes filled with hatred.

Sam Evans, you don't deserve to be my dad! You never cared about me or Mom! Now you're just Lily's lackey, living the high life and never worrying about me! I've been missing for so long, and you're still dressed up, eating at restaurants. You don't care that I'm gone! No, you probably wish I was gone so you and your favorite concubine can have more daughters you like! If I acknowledge you, you'll drag me home for your reputation and make me leave Jasper Cheng! I'm already Jasper's person, I won't leave him. You'd probably force me to accept Lily as my sister and forbid me from seeking revenge! I can't go back—I must get revenge, and I'll use Princess Mira to do it!

Once I use Princess Mira to get rid of Lily and catch Jasper Cheng's enemy, Jasper will finally get his wish to study at the Royal Mathematics Institute. Then he'll like me and marry me! I won't go back to those awful people or be Lily's lackey!

Thinking this, Cynthia Green got up from the ground, covered her face with her tattered straw hat, afraid Sam Evans would see her, and quickly ran into a nearby alley.
