A piercing shriek rang out as Joe Di hacked away at the roots, severing them one by one. The web of roots above Joe Di and Jade Yu began to collapse. At last, one root arrow broke through Joe Di’s wall of blade light, streaking straight toward Jade Yu. The Rootling’s logic was strange: if not for Jade Yu’s locator, it would never have provoked someone like Joe Di. As long as it didn’t draw his ire, it could have continued its carefree bloodsucking here within the Trap Array.
Joe Di hadn’t expected a root could actually break through his wall and target Jade Yu. It was too late to swing his blade back, so he raised his hand and hurled a fireball instead.
The root arrow that had pierced Joe Di’s wall slowed down as it dodged the blades. Joe Di’s fireball, thrown with full force, overtook it in a flash.
A sizzling stench filled the air as the root arrow was instantly engulfed in flames, crackling and burning in midair.
