"Don’t say stuff like that."
Hearing her speak, Mia Chen frowned.
She really didn’t like joking about things like this.
"Alright, alright, I won’t say anything. We’ll find out when we get there, won’t we?"
She was still laughing, then grabbed Mia Chen’s hand, leaned close, and whispered something in her ear.
Mia Chen nodded. Aside from Emily Yi, the three girls got up.
"Where are you guys going?"
Victor Zhou saw Mia Chen was about to leave and immediately stood up.
"We’re going to the restroom. You’re not planning to follow us, are you?"
The girl giggled and glanced at Victor Zhou.
Victor Zhou sat back down, looking awkward.
He was really panicking now.
Ever since he heard Mia Chen might be pursued by Ethan Lu, his mood had turned seriously heavy.
"Looks like we’re out of luck."
After Mia Chen left, one of the boys sighed.
"I thought maybe hanging out with Mia Chen this time would help us get closer, but if Ethan Lu’s got his eye on her, we’re totally done for." The boy shook his head. He looked disappointed, but not crushed.
After all, he knew he and Ethan Lu weren’t even in the same league.
"Hey, man, looks like you’re totally screwed this time." Another boy reached out and patted Victor Zhou’s shoulder, full of sympathy. "We all know how much you like Mia Chen."
"But now, looks like you’ve got zero chance."
"You never know. Mimi’s not the kind of girl who cares about money." Victor Zhou shook his head, face dark, voice shaky—mostly trying to comfort himself.
