Rona Muir was slightly surprised, but quickly regained her composure: "Of course."
After agreeing on a meeting place, Rona Muir wondered for a long time but couldn't figure out why Mrs. Kerr wanted to see her.
She had already faded out of Sean Kerr’s life. Wherever Sean Kerr was present, she tried her best not to appear.
Because of this, many events that should have been attended by the president were handled by Cecilia Gu instead.
Fortunately, no one dared to question Cecilia Gu's position.
Even if Cecilia Gu wasn’t the general manager of Danni Cosmetics and was just a regular employee, no one would dare show her any disrespect!
Who would dare!
Her husband could wipe out their entire family in a minute, you know?
Rona Muir was confused, but she still tidied herself up and went to meet Mrs. Kerr, calm and collected.
Her belly was almost five months along now, and it was starting to show.
So, she was now accompanied by a maid and an assistant, who took care of her at all times.
Rona Muir did not go against Mrs. Kerr’s wishes and casually ordered a cup of hot tea and some snacks.
As soon as she walked in, she was greeted by soft music.
It made her feel very comfortable.
A waiter came up to greet her, and Rona Muir replied softly, "I'm here for an appointment."
The waiter immediately said, "This way, please."
Rona Muir followed the waiter down a flight of stairs and arrived at a very quiet corner.
Rona Muir froze. "Mrs. Kerr, what are you talking about? I haven't been in touch with Sean Kerr for a long time. Didn't he already get engaged?"
The waiter told Rona Muir, "The items you ordered will be delivered in ten minutes."
Rona Muir nodded and said to her assistant and maid, "Wait here. If you get tired, just find a place to sit."
Rona Muir pushed the door open and saw Mrs. Kerr sitting quietly inside.
Today, Mrs. Kerr was completely different from her usual sharp and strong self—she looked much more defeated.
What could have happened?
"Mrs. Kerr." Rona Muir walked over. "Sorry I'm late."
Mrs. Kerr glanced at Rona Muir’s belly, her eyes tinged with bitterness. She nodded and said, "It's fine, I just got here myself. Please, have a seat."
Rona Muir sat across from Mrs. Kerr and asked, puzzled, "Is there something you need from me, Madam?"
"Let's order some food first." Mrs. Kerr handed her a tablet. "The food here is pretty good."
Rona Muir was quite surprised.
It was the first time Mrs. Kerr had ever spoken to her so kindly.
Before, she was always so aloof or looked down on her.
What could have happened to make such a proud Mrs. Kerr lower herself like this?
Rona Muir lowered her eyes and said softly, "After all, I do hope he can be happy, not end up like this. My Danni Cosmetics still has to compete with his Jolene Cosmetics! There’s just over a month until our first sales launch—I don’t want my rival turning into a total loser."
Sure enough, after she ordered, the food arrived ten minutes later.
Rona Muir quietly drank her tea, waiting for Mrs. Kerr to speak.
After a long silence, Mrs. Kerr finally spoke slowly, "Maybe I was really wrong."
Rona Muir looked confused—she had no idea what Mrs. Kerr meant by that.
"I shouldn't have been so self-righteous and broken you two up." Mrs. Kerr said in defeat. "Miss Mu, could you please help me find Sean Kerr?"
Rona Muir froze. "Madam, what are you talking about? I haven't been in touch with Sean Kerr for a long time. Didn't he already get engaged?"
Mrs. Kerr sighed softly, "Yes, ever since the engagement, he hasn't come home once. He hasn't taken care of anything at the company, can't be reached by phone, and no one can find him. How could someone just..."
Mrs. Kerr’s eyes reddened and her voice grew choked. "Mao Shan is pregnant right now, and as her husband, he hasn’t even shown his face. How do you expect me, as his mother-in-law..."
Mrs. Kerr couldn’t continue.
Rona Muir was surprised too. "Then where could he have gone? Didn’t you call his friends?"
Mrs. Kerr said with a bitter smile, "I called, and confirmed he’s with Joe Qi. You know Joe Qi—a playboy, always surrounded by women. Now Sean Kerr is living that kind of wild, decadent life with him."
Rona Muir instinctively refuted, "That’s impossible! Sean Kerr isn’t like that!"
She had known Sean Kerr for so many years, she absolutely wouldn’t misjudge him!
Mrs. Kerr nodded gently. "Yes, anyone who knows him wouldn’t believe it! But someone really did take pictures of Sean Kerr hanging out with some young actresses."
Rona Muir was so shocked she couldn’t say a word.
How could that be?
Sean Kerr never hung out with those young actresses!
With his status, he could have any celebrity he wanted!
So many people would do anything just to get close to him!
But all these years, he’s always kept himself clean and never messed around!
Honestly, aside from Joe Qi, both Charles Yin and Sean Kerr have always kept their lives very clean.
If she wasn’t his girlfriend, he’d never get involved in any messy relationships!
But now...
Sean Kerr got engaged and immediately started staying out all night, not coming to the office, and hanging out with young actresses every day.
Did Sean Kerr really do something like this?
Seeing Rona Muir’s shocked face, Mrs. Kerr couldn’t help but sigh deeply. "Maybe you’re the only one he’ll answer the phone for! Could you please call him and try to talk some sense into him?"
Rona Muir snapped back to reality, took out her phone, and dialed Sean Kerr’s number.
The phone rang once and was picked up immediately: "Hello? Nana."
His voice sounded sleepy—it seemed he’d just been napping.
Mrs. Kerr’s eyes reddened.
Sure enough, her son had been pushed so far by her that he wouldn’t answer anyone’s calls except Rona Muir’s.
"Sean Kerr, where are you?" Rona Muir put the call on speaker, looking at Mrs. Kerr as she spoke into the phone.
"...Don’t ask." Sean Kerr’s voice was silent for a moment. "Did my mom ask you to call? So you couldn’t refuse her and made this call?"
Rona Muir didn’t answer.
Sean Kerr chuckled softly over the phone. "I knew it. You’d never call me on your own. Just tell her I’m fine. I don’t want to come back right now—I just need some time alone."
"Sean Kerr, you..." Rona Muir started to say, but was interrupted by a strange voice on the other end.
A drowsy girl’s voice sounded from the other side: "Honey, whose call is that? So noisy, can’t anyone get some sleep around here?"
Sean Kerr hurriedly said to Rona Muir, "Alright, I’ll stop here. If you need anything, send me an email—I’ll read yours. That’s it, bye."
The call was instantly cut off.
Rona Muir looked at Mrs. Kerr with a helpless expression.
Mrs. Kerr buried her hands in her hair and trembled as she spoke: "Sean Kerr actually... actually did something like this... What a sin! This is all my fault! If I’d known my son would turn out like this, why did I ever..."
Mrs. Kerr suddenly looked up and grabbed Rona Muir’s fingers. "Miss Mu, he only answers your calls and reads your emails now. Could you please, I beg you, bring him back?"
Rona Muir didn’t pull her hand away, just calmly looked at Mrs. Kerr. "Madam, you’re mistaken. I have no right to interfere in his life now! He already has a fiancée."
"But he won’t answer Mao Shan’s calls at all!" Mrs. Kerr pleaded, looking at Rona Muir. "I’m begging you, okay? If Sean Kerr keeps going down this path, he’s finished!"
"But..." Rona Muir bit her lip. "Sorry, Mrs. Kerr. I’m pregnant now, and my family won’t let me run around everywhere. I really can’t help you find your son right now. I’m sorry."
Hearing Rona Muir’s refusal, Mrs. Kerr was more desperate than ever.
"If even you won’t help me, then who else could possibly find him?" Mrs. Kerr gave a bitter smile. "Fine, fine. I won’t make things hard for you. I never should’ve opposed you and Sean Kerr being together. If I’d listened to him back then, maybe... maybe he wouldn’t hate me so much now. Asking you to find him really is too much."
Mrs. Kerr stood up, her steps faltering, looking utterly defeated.
It was clear just how much Sean Kerr’s downfall had devastated Mrs. Kerr.
It made sense, really.
Sean Kerr had always been a good kid—studious, hardworking, obedient, and sensible.
For someone like that to suddenly drop everything at work and spend all day with Joe Qi chasing women, totally losing himself...
It really looked like he was ready to throw his life away.
The Kerr Family only had one son—how could they not panic?
If Sean Kerr was finished, then the Kerr Family was finished too!
Rona Muir watched Mrs. Kerr stumble as she walked, and knew she must’ve been losing sleep and searching everywhere these past few days—only to end up in front of her now.
Seeing Mrs. Kerr so sad, Rona Muir’s heart softened.
"Wait!" Rona Muir called out to Mrs. Kerr. "I’ll do my best to try."
Mrs. Kerr froze, then turned around in surprise. "You’re really willing to help me?"
Rona Muir lowered her eyes and said softly, "After all, I do hope he can be happy, not end up like this. My Danny Company still has to compete with his Jiao Ling Company! There’s just over a month until our first sales launch—I don’t want my rival turning into a total loser."
Mrs. Kerr was moved as she looked at Rona Muir.
She truly regretted it.
Why hadn’t she seen how good this girl was before?
Why did she only realize it after she’d lost her?
If she hadn’t opposed them back then, would they have...
Mrs. Kerr suddenly didn’t dare think any further.
Because there was no going back now.
Her gaze fell on Rona Muir’s now prominent belly, and she softly said, "Thank you, Miss Mu."
"No need to thank me. I’ll just do what I can," Rona Muir replied.
Mrs. Kerr nodded and turned to leave.
Rona Muir sighed, then thought for a moment and called Gu Xixi. "Xixi, can you do me a favor?"
Gu Xixi was so busy she was dizzy. "Huh? What is it?"
"Sean Kerr’s gone missing lately. Come help me look for him," Rona Muir sighed. "Mrs. Kerr asked me to help bring him back."
