Yvette Ye had zero interest in Harvey Li and deliberately avoided mentioning anything about Jenna Jiang. Most likely, Yvette didn’t want Evan Lin to turn his attention toward Jenna either.
After all, Jenna Jiang and Yvette Ye were both part of Moonshade and got along pretty well. Now that Evan Lin was one of Moonshade’s people too, they’d run into each other constantly. There was no way things would ever escalate to a real life-or-death fight.
Inside Moonshade, internal rivalry and sparring were allowed, but if someone actually got killed or things got out of hand, Hidden Dragon up top would never let it slide.
The group took the airport’s VIP special channel, breezing through security all the way to the tarmac. Instead of a passenger jet, what awaited them was a helicopter.
An S-70 Black Hawk helicopter sat on the tarmac, decked out in full camouflage. The whole machine packed a serious visual punch.
The pilot waiting in the cockpit flashed an ‘OK’ sign through the glass window at Yvette Ye and the others as they approached.
Everyone boarded the helicopter. The passengers settled in.
The helicopter lifted off from the tarmac, shooting straight up into the blue sky.
This helicopter was clearly their exclusive transport, arranged just for the four of them. Moonshade’s perks and authority were obvious from the treatment.
“We’re heading to Mysterious Ruins No. 3 this time, right? I heard the barrier outside loosened a few days ago and someone managed to get inside?”
On the helicopter, Jenna Jiang glanced over at Yvette Ye and started asking questions.
“Yeah, we tried all kinds of ways to get into the Mysterious Ruins before, but nothing worked. This time, it probably has something to do with that event over in Hong Kong—the barrier outside the Ruins loosened, so now we finally have a shot.”
Yvette Ye nodded. “Mi Shu’s team already made it inside the Mysterious Ruins. But lately, the barrier’s gotten solid again, so we’ve lost contact with them for now.”
“This trip is all about teaming up to break open the Ruins again. Whatever’s inside is definitely worth exploring.”
Jenna Jiang nodded at Yvette Ye’s words. “I can’t wait. The last Ruins yielded a bunch of magic artifacts. Who knows what we’ll find this time?”
After speaking, she turned to Evan Lin, who was sitting nearby. “Is this your first time heading into the Mysterious Ruins?”
“He just joined and hasn’t had any assignments yet. Today’s his first mission with us, so hopefully he can get used to the environment here.”
Before Evan Lin could reply, Yvette Ye spoke up for him.
“I wasn’t even asking you—look how nervous you are! Afraid I’ll eat this kid alive?”
Jenna Jiang shot Yvette Ye a glance, grinning mischievously.
“Just don’t stir up any more trouble. This mission is really important.”
Yvette Ye shook her head, but didn’t actually deny what Jenna Jiang said.
She wasn’t expecting Evan Lin to win much approval right now; all she hoped was that once they reached the Mysterious Ruins, Jenna Jiang and everyone else wouldn’t make a big deal out of him.
Honestly, when Yvette Ye first got the assignment to recruit some guy who’d been fast-tracked into Moonshade, she was pretty impatient about it.
But later, as Yvette Ye’s opinion of Evan Lin changed step by step, she started hoping Master Lin from Seacrest could really blend into Moonshade.
He’s got insane combat power—and Evan Lin’s still so young!
His future is basically limitless!
“Yeah, yeah, got it.”
Jenna Jiang waved her hand, then suddenly looked at Yvette Ye as if remembering something. “Hey, I heard Kevin Qin’s coming too.”
“Kevin Qin’s been chasing you for years—haven’t you ever thought about giving him a chance?”
The helicopter zipped through the air, rotors buzzing in the cabin, but that didn’t stop Harvey Li from gossiping up a storm.
Resting her head on one hand, Harvey Li looked at Yvette Ye. “If you ask me, why not just say yes already?”
“Kevin Qin’s a top talent among the Ancient Martial Clans, and he’s been seriously into you for years. He’s never wavered, and you know his strength—he’s easily one of Moonshade’s top five younger fighters.”
As Harvey Li said this, she stared straight at Yvette Ye.
Yvette Ye shook her head. “I don’t have time for that stuff.”
Before we left, Kevin Qin called me and asked me to take good care of you on the way.
Harvey Li, who’d been sitting quietly next to her, finally spoke up: “I can guarantee Kevin Qin’s feelings for you are real, so maybe give it some thought? Plus, you have to realize—both of us have our families standing behind us.”
The Ancient Martial Clans have real influence in this world. And Kevin Qin will probably become the head of the Qin clan someday. Being clan chief of an Ancient Martial family is more than worthy of you.
When Harvey Li mentioned the Ancient Martial Clans, he couldn’t help straightening up, his face full of pride.
Every Ancient Martial Clan has more than a dozen Pointing-to-Mystery Realm experts.
That kind of energy is extraordinarily powerful in the mortal world.
The Ancient Martial Clans usually fear Moonshade, but even more, they’re wary of Hidden Dragon backing Moonshade.
Even the Ancient Martial Clans wouldn’t dare mess with Hidden Dragon’s people lightly.
Inside Moonshade, almost everyone is Pointing-to-Mystery Realm. If you really compare, a single Ancient Martial Clan is still a notch below Moonshade. But if Kevin Qin becomes both clan chief of the Qin clan and a Moonshade member, his status would soar in both worlds.
Listening to Harvey Li, Yvette Ye subtly frowned, but stayed silent and didn’t pursue the topic.
Evan Lin could tell—even though he didn’t know Yvette Ye’s exact background, just the fact that she’d faced down Lin Beixun that day and talked him into backing off meant she must have deep ties to the Upper-Grade Lin Clan.
Any woman linked to the Upper-Grade Lin Clan definitely isn’t someone ordinary.
But Evan Lin honestly had zero interest in her background or who she was, so ever since boarding the helicopter, he hadn’t said a word.
Meanwhile, Harvey Li noticed Yvette Ye wasn’t responding, so to avoid awkwardness, he shifted his attention to Evan Lin instead.
“Hey kid, after you beat up those Rowe clan guys, didn’t the Rowe clan come after you?”
Harvey Li looked at Evan Lin, eyes full of mischief. “Or maybe the Rowe clan hasn’t even heard about it yet?”
“What do you think—should I tell the Rowe clan’s patriarch about what you did?”
