Not in a Very Good Mood

1/4/2026

After leaving, the two of them were just about to head back to the Palace Guard Barracks together when Sean Shaw's Messenger Charm suddenly lit up.

He answered the call, spoke a few words, then said he had something urgent and needed to return to the palace first, telling Lucy Luan to go back on her own.

"What is it?" Lucy immediately sensed something was off about his mood and asked, "Do you need me to go with you?"

Sean Shaw shook his head. "You go back first."

So Lucy Luan had no choice but to walk back by herself.

She wasn't feeling too happy about it.

Is bringing her along that embarrassing?

Would it be such a hassle to bring her with him?

Why did he just ditch her and make her walk back to the barracks alone?

Once Lucy was far enough away, Sean's expression turned cold as he headed straight back to the Celestial Palace.

As soon as he entered the hall, he saw Skye being forced to kneel on the ground by two Palace Guards.

The Empress Dowager, Asher Xiao, Henry Xiao, and Princess Quinn Xiao were all present.

Sean Shaw bowed. "Mother, why have you had Skye seized?"

"You dare ask me!" The Empress Dowager looked furious. "Sean, what exactly are your intentions?"

"I don't understand what you mean."

"Him! Skye!" The Empress Dowager enunciated each word. "He actually dared to sneak into Henry Xiao's palace and destroy the Disaster-Warding Talisman! Sean, explain yourself—what are you trying to do?"

Henry Xiao is plagued by bad luck and his life is in danger.

The High Priest of Drake Abyss spent a hundred years cultivating to craft four Disaster-Warding Talismans, which were hung under the four corners of Henry Xiao's palace to ward off disaster.

Now, they're saying Skye destroyed one of those talismans.

Sean glanced at Skye.

Their eyes met, and Sean instantly understood everything. He said, "He was called over by someone from the Fourth Highness's palace and told to wait under the eaves. He didn't even know the Disaster-Warding Talisman had fallen, nor does he have the power to break its barrier."

"He doesn't have that power, but you do!" the Empress Dowager said. "Sean, do you want Henry dead? Why? What do you gain from his death?"

Sean was silent for a moment, then said, "I didn't do it. If you insist I did, show me the evidence. Otherwise, I'm leaving."

He turned and walked away.

At the same time, Skye flashed into a streak of red light, instantly breaking free from the Palace Guards and following after Sean.

"Guards!" the Empress Dowager commanded sternly. "Seize Skye and take him to the Divine Prison! Torture him until he confesses!"

The Palace Guards stepped forward, trying once again to capture Skye.

Sean, expressionless, sent them flying with a single palm strike.

The Empress Dowager raised her eyebrows.

"Maybe you don't realize, Mother, but whatever Skye says and does is basically my own words and actions. If you accuse him of trying to murder Fourth Highness, then you're accusing me, too."

Sean shifted slightly, his gaze icy as he looked at her. "So, Mother, are you planning to throw me into the Divine Prison? If so, just report to Father Emperor and make it official."

"Insolent!" The Empress Dowager slammed the table. "You think I wouldn’t dare?"

Sean met her gaze. "I know, Mother, there’s nothing you wouldn’t dare to do. So, are you throwing me in prison right now or not?"

The Empress Dowager took a deep breath and said, "I’m not letting this go! Go back and wait."

Sean turned and left with Skye, heading back to his own residence.

But when he walked in, the place was a total mess—like a war had just broken out.

Several of his Divine Attendants had been injured.

It was all thanks to the Palace Guards barging in to catch Skye.

Sean stood in the courtyard, fists clenched.

Skye frowned and said, "They put so much effort into this scheme—I doubt they’ll let it drop easily!"
