"Wow, this is legit! Way better than your average roast duck—the flavor’s really popping." Butterfly Rogue grabbed a piece and started munching, giving it a big thumbs-up.
The rest of them dove in right after. Pretty soon, everyone was nodding along, clearly loving the duck at this joint.
"Xin’er, this duck isn’t cheap, but dang, it’s tasty. Didn’t think it’d be this juicy and tender." Caleb Miles praised, even dropping another slice onto her plate.
But Ivy Shen just took a tiny nibble, then set her chopsticks down. She went straight for a plain steamed bun and some side dishes, never reaching for the roast duck again.
"What’s up, Xin’er? Not into it?" Adrian Night asked, unable to hide his concern. He’d seen her looking hyped while they waited, so why’d she just try one bite and bail? Was something off with the duck?
"Seriously, it’s good—Seventh Sister, have some more!" Caleb Miles still preferred calling her Seventh Sister when there were a lot of people around. He wasn’t as mushy as the others, and saying ‘Xin’er’ always felt awkward.
Ivy Shen dropped her chopsticks, folded her arms, and shot them a look. "So you all think this roast duck is amazing, huh?"
"Yep, yep!" All six nodded together. Guess none of them were picky eaters.
"I grew up in the palace and have tasted every delicacy under the sun, but this is the first time I’ve had duck this tender and fragrant. The recipe’s gotta be something special," Ethan Chu chimed in.
Ivy Shen just laughed. "Wow, you guys really are a bunch of country bumpkins!"
