All from the Five Elements Universe Are Cannon Fodder
"Why?" This time, it was Quinn Moten who asked.
Lora Shen explained, "All the cultivators who come to the Genesis Universe are here for one thing—to obtain the Cosmic Throne."
"The Cosmic Throne means controlling the Grand Way of an entire universe?" Joe Di had heard of the Cosmic Throne before, but he wasn’t very familiar with it. In fact, not only him, but none of the people he associated with truly knew what the Cosmic Throne was.
Lora Shen said, "To be honest, I’m not entirely sure either. Many powerful cultivators have waited here for countless years, and the great contest for the Cosmic Throne hasn’t truly begun. Genesis City is built at the center of the Genesis Universe and contains the rules of the Grand Way. Only cultivators who reside in Genesis City for a long time have a greater chance of obtaining the Cosmic Throne. Moreover, the rules of heaven and earth in the Genesis Universe actually can’t be cultivated—only in Genesis City can cultivation take place."
"I’ve already sensed that," Quinn Moten sighed from the side.
Although they had only been in the Genesis Universe for a few short years, he had already tried it. Aside from the initial Genesis Dao resonance that could be absorbed to improve one’s strength, once truly inside the Genesis Universe, the rules of heaven and earth here were completely unsuitable for cultivation. Not only were they unsuitable, but over time, one’s strength would even decline. The only solution was to periodically return to one’s own world to recover their vitality.
Joe Di nodded, "Go on."
"Throughout the Genesis Universe, aside from the recently entered Genesis Gate, only Genesis City still contains Genesis resonance. So, if cultivators in the Genesis Universe want to improve their strength, they must settle in Genesis City," Lora Shen continued.
Joe Di asked in confusion, "I’ve heard that cultivators from my Five Elements Universe are treated as cannon fodder after entering the Genesis Universe. Who are they fighting against? Why isn’t there such conflict in Genesis City?"
Lora Shen sighed and said, "That’s because our Five Elements Universe was schemed against. I’ve heard that the Five Elements Universe is actually an equal among the top universes alongside the Genesis Universe. So, the Five Elements Universe was given five Cosmic Saint Thrones—thrones that no other universe even has the right to touch, naturally formed after the vast chaos was split open."
"Are the powerhouses of the Genesis Universe trying to seize the Saint Thrones of the Five Elements Universe?" Joe Di finally understood.
Lora Shen said, "Yes. If it weren’t for the top experts of the Genesis Universe blocking us, the Five Elements Universe would have already acquired the five Saint Thrones. After the Genesis Gate in the Five Elements Universe opened, countless powerhouses from the Genesis Universe were sent to intercept those from the Five Elements Universe who were trying to obtain the Saint Thrones. The cultivators of the Five Elements Universe know very well that if these Saint Thrones are seized by other universes, the Five Elements Universe will completely vanish into the vast chaos."
"Are the other universes joining forces against the Five Elements Universe?"
"Not exactly. Other universes have also obtained Cosmic Thrones, though I’m not sure if they’re Saint Thrones. Any universe that has acquired a Cosmic Throne faces similar attacks. Some powerhouses who haven’t obtained any Cosmic Thrones not only lead their own universe’s cultivators to intercept and hunt those who have, but also use their advantage of longer time spent in the Genesis Universe to unleash Nirvana fiend beasts for siege..."
Lora Shen’s voice grew somber. Back then, countless friends she knew had perished by her side, and those powerhouses even forbade cultivators from the Five Elements Universe from heading to Genesis City. When Joe Di said that cultivators from the Five Elements Universe were cannon fodder after entering the Genesis Gate, he wasn’t wrong at all—in fact, they were even less than cannon fodder.
"What about the Saint Thrones?" Joe Di asked.
Lora Shen shook her head. "No one knows for sure. There doesn’t seem to be any outcome yet. But all the powerhouses in the Genesis Universe are here for the Saint Thrones, so this is probably just the beginning."
"Were all the cultivators from the Five Elements Universe killed?"
Joe Di knew that during the second Genesis War—or perhaps the third—almost all the powerhouses from the Five Elements Universe had entered the Genesis Gate. If, in this war, all the Five Elements Universe’s cultivators were killed, then in the next battle for the Saint Thrones, the Five Elements Universe would be at a disadvantage. Even though there were many Third Step cultivators in the Five Elements Universe’s Chaos Domain, those might be the only strength the Five Elements Universe had left.
"No, after countless wars, many people realized that the laws of heaven and earth in our Five Elements Universe are flawed. Even with the same Grand Way divine abilities, ours always seem to fall short. Some people seek ways to return to the Five Elements Universe to perfect their own Grand Way rules, while others go to the Genesis Universe to find ways to improve their own Grand Way."
There was a sense of helplessness in Lora Shen’s tone. This was no longer just a struggle for the Grand Way among cultivators—it was a battle for the very survival of the Five Elements Universe in the vast cosmos.
Unfortunately, after all these years in the Genesis Universe, not only had her cultivation not increased, she hadn’t even figured out the true meaning of the Throne. In fact, among the cultivators who entered from the Five Elements Universe, how many were better off than her?
"Brother Joe Di, should we head to Genesis City?" Quinn Moten looked at Joe Di. Although he was a veteran powerhouse, he had never been to the Genesis Universe either.
Joe Di didn’t hesitate at all. "Let’s go to Genesis City first. Since cultivators from all universes can go to Genesis City, why shouldn’t we be able to go?"
"Big Brother Joe, if Lyeu sees me appear, he’ll definitely..."
Before Lora Shen could finish, Joe Di waved his hand. "So what if Lyeu shows up? Would he dare make a move in Genesis City?"
"Big Brother Joe, it’s because I have the Genesis Azure Lotus. If I go, I’m afraid I’ll bring..."
Seeing Lora Shen’s hesitation, Joe Di knew what she was thinking. He laughed, "Junior Sister Lora, if we’re too afraid to take you into Genesis City just because of this, then coming to the Genesis Universe is pointless. But Junior Sister Lora, you’ve been in Genesis City for quite some time now. Even if you can’t cultivate later on, the Genesis resonance you absorbed when you first entered should have allowed you to break through to the Genesis Realm, right? Why is your cultivation still so low?"
In Joe Di’s view, Lora Shen was barely lingering at the Convergence Realm and could fall back at any moment.

A look of melancholy appeared in Lora Shen’s eyes. "My cultivation has actually declined. There are plenty of treasures and Genesis resonance in Genesis City, but they’re not something cultivators from the Five Elements Universe can cultivate with. Even Senior Zixiao’s cultivation fell after entering Genesis City. Brother Ye and Brother Ning were besieged by countless powerhouses, and couldn’t even enter Genesis City."
Quinn Moten said, "In the Genesis Universe, isn’t it true that only those who live in Genesis City don’t lose cultivation? Or perhaps their strength is still increasing."
"Yes. The outer city of Genesis City is always crowded, because there are so many cultivators in the Genesis Universe that many can only live outside the outer city," Lora Shen replied.
"So how can someone live in the inner city? Or is it that only the old-timers live there?" Joe Di asked. Since entering the Genesis Universe, he hadn’t sensed any Throne resonance. Whether it was because his cultivation wasn’t high enough, or the time wasn’t right, he knew he had to find a place to settle first, then figure out a way to reach the Genesis Realm.
"Every ten thousand years, Genesis City holds a Grand Cosmic Debate, and after that, a cultivator duel. Each universe sends cultivators to compete, and the winners are allocated inner city residence slots. In fact, the inner city slots are very few now—most are fighting for a place in the outer city," Lora Shen explained.
"No cultivators from the Five Elements Universe participate?"
"There were, but they were all killed."
Even Quinn Moten could feel the loneliness and sadness in Lora Shen’s voice.
"What about our Light-Dark Universe?" Quinn Moten couldn’t help but ask.
Lora Shen looked at Quinn Moten in surprise. After a long pause, she said, "It seems there aren’t any cultivators from the Light-Dark Universe in Genesis City."
Quinn Moten’s heart sank. It was impossible that there were no cultivators from the Light-Dark Universe in Genesis City—the only possibility was that, just like the Five Elements Universe, they’d all been wiped out.
