Chapter 1088: Burned Alive

But after breaking through to the Heaven Rank and mastering transcendent power, Shark became one of those instantaneously formidable Heaven-Rank warriors. In pure combat strength, this guy is even a bit stronger than the Golden Orc Grand Marshal I fought before.

Especially his overwhelming defense—it’s enough to make anyone despair.

Dodging Shark’s heavy sword aura slash once again, Leon’s brows furrowed tightly.

Gravity—what a pain. Especially this kind that just strengthens the earth’s aura, not like a spell’s gravity effect. There’s no way around it but to brute-force through.

Levitation spells that resist gravity can only offset a single fold of it. That’s basically useless in a fight...

Most spells can’t even touch his body...

Suddenly, a book wreathed in gray flames appeared beside Leon, its aura instantly spreading—the unmistakable power of a transcendent magical artifact.

In that instant, the thick earth aura around them was forcibly dispersed, and the crushing gravity pressing down on Leon vanished without a trace...

The Spellbook of Ages slowly opened. A cluster of gray flames gathered into a pair of eyes, appearing on the book’s surface.

A glimmer flashed in Leon’s eyes.

“Perfect timing, Theo. Get ready—burn this bastard to ashes.”

Ever since Theo became the Spellbook of Ages’ Relic Spirit a few days ago, he’d been busy restoring the book’s spells and transforming its inner world into a realm of flames. Theo had then fallen into a deep sleep, completing his final merge and adapting to the newborn flame world within the Spellbook.

Now he was finally awake, and the terrifying aura of a transcendent magical artifact instantly drove off Shark’s own transcendent power!

The Spellbook of Ages hovered beside Leon, its pages flipping open on their own. Each page shimmered with runes, then burst into flames—one after another, the runes vanished, replaced by burning patches of different fire.

It was as if every page was a tiny world, each one containing endless varieties of flame.

Leon shed his Lava Avatar, shifting to a pure Fire Elemental Avatar. He spat out three runes—each one flickering and burning like living flame. As soon as they appeared, three massive fire vortices, thirty or forty meters wide, materialized in midair.

In an instant, endless crimson flames erupted from the three fire vortices.

One vortex spewed pure elemental crimson fire, another unleashed a river of blazing white flames, and the last spat out clusters of silent, dark-red embers.

As soon as these flames appeared, the immense gravity around them yanked them downward toward the ground.

In an instant, the area within several hundred meters became a lake of fire—the flames compressed by gravity flowed together, forming a sea of liquid fire...

Shark sank to the bottom of the fire sea, glanced at the flames around him, and laughed with scorn.

“Foolish human, you think you can burn me alive with fire? Hilarious. These flames couldn’t even kill a regular Bronze Orc...

Looks like this is your last trick, you damned wretch. I don’t have time to play with you—come and die!"

Leon sneered, ignoring Shark’s bluster.

Shark was so sure of his invincible defense that he didn’t even think about dodging. Not that he could escape this sea of fire anyway—his power only peaked when his feet touched the ground. Without the earth’s support, his strength would drop by sixty or seventy percent.

As soon as the fire sea appeared, Theo immediately flipped open the Spellbook of Ages. From three pages flew out three flaming runes, each forming a long incantation that fell into the fire sea below.

One incantation was made of crimson-gold flame, another of black-gray flame, and the last of pale-white flame.

The three incantations fell into the fire sea, and instantly, the compressed elemental fire began shrinking rapidly—the hundreds of meters of elemental flame dissipated in a flash.

The three flaming incantations acted like monsters, devouring the surrounding elemental flames. Those flames became mere fuel, consumed by the incantations.

In less than two seconds, the elemental flames spewing from Leon’s three fire vortices were just barely enough to satisfy the appetite of the three incantations.

After three seconds, the entire sea of fire had transformed into a burning ocean of crimson-gold, black-gray, and pale-white flames.

The heat soared, rising hundreds of times in just three seconds. As the three flaming incantations collided and merged, their runes finally vanished.

The three colors of flame began to fuse, and in an instant, the temperature doubled again—their properties pushed to the absolute limit.

Inferno Fire, Devouring Black Flame, and Corrosive Flame—all fused by Theo—transformed the two- or three-hundred-meter expanse into a black-gold sea of flame.

Deep in the ocean of flame, Shark finally sensed something was wrong. The fire around him, which had never been able to touch his body before, was closing in.

But in just two or three seconds, he felt the earth he’d merged with—the earth’s aura—rapidly weakening, as if it was being burned away.

Leon floated midair, coldly spitting out rune after rune. Theo, now two flaming eyes on the Spellbook of Ages, kept weaving and merging the flames.

Using endless elemental fire as fuel, they spawned vast amounts of Inferno Fire, Devouring Black Flame, and Corrosive Flame.

Any one of these flames could threaten a Heaven-Rank powerhouse. Inferno Fire is said to be the hottest flame, able to burn anything—hell, it can even burn other flames.

Devouring Black Flame targets any creature’s bones—even undead. If it touches bone, it’ll keep burning until nothing remains but ash.

Corrosive Flame, when amassed in great enough quantities, can even eat holes in space itself—let alone the earth’s aura.

Theo used the Spellbook of Ages to forcibly fuse these three flames into one, creating a fire more than ten times stronger than any of them alone! Even their properties were intensified to the extreme.

Pure flame. Pure burning.

After five seconds, Shark finally started to panic. He felt the dense earth aura around him being rapidly pierced through.

The earth aura, like a fortress wall, was now riddled with holes—as if some force was eating it away, and the whole wall was on the verge of collapse.

Even his earth battle armor, once like yellow crystal, was now turning murky—shifting from translucent yellow crystal to dull brass, its power slowly fading.

Shark hesitated, then decided he had to leave the earth and get out of this sea of fire.

But suddenly, Theo and Leon, who’d been watching the fire sea closely, reacted at the exact same moment.

Leon spat out five runes in quick succession, sending them into the fire sea. Theo triggered the fusion of the three flames right beneath Shark’s feet!

In an instant, black-gold flames erupted from under Shark, burning away three hundred meters of earth in a flash.

Within a second, a crater three hundred meters across and thirty meters deep appeared beneath Shark, the earth entirely consumed by black-gold fire.

Shark lost the earth’s power—his strength plummeted by more than half. Enveloped by endless black-gold flames, his earth battle armor began to rot and decay, as if aging millions of years in an instant, riddled with holes.

The decaying armor turned pitch-black, then was burned away into nothing.

Immediately, the endless flames surged into Shark’s body like a torrent.

A wretched scream rang out—black-gold flames burst from Shark’s eyes, mouth, and ears. In less than three seconds, his bones were the first to vanish, then his body burned to ash, and even the ash was consumed, leaving nothing behind...

Anything not part of the black-gold flame was burned to nothing here...

Shark was burned alive—the black-gold flames kept spreading, incinerating everything they touched. Stones on the ground vanished, and the earth itself seemed to collapse inward.

Only when Theo was sure Shark was utterly destroyed, dead beyond dead, did he use the Spellbook of Ages to absorb the rampaging black-gold flames back into the book.
