Sect Focused on the Wind

So Evan Yang began to study his own body: the phosphorescence—why hadn't it appeared before, and why did it show up only after he lay down and felt feverish? For Evan, this was yet another strange change in himself.

After repeated investigation, he discovered that his Light Attribute was related to it. When his Light Attribute flowed through his body, the phosphorescence would get brighter.

"Better expel all this phosphorescence first," Evan thought. Since he could distinguish which particles were phosphorescent and not part of his own body, he could methodically remove each glowing substance.

So he sat motionless in his room, quietly meditating, as bits of grime were expelled from his body—grime that was, in fact, the glowing phosphorescent particles inside him.

He ended up sitting until the next morning. When Evan opened his eyes and confirmed there were no more glowing particles inside, he muttered, "What exactly are these things?"

Evan moved the grime off to the side and examined it, discovering it was a fine powder that could dissolve in any liquid.

"Could it be from the wine?" Evan knew these particles only appeared after he drank, so he wondered suspiciously.

After a moment, Evan mused, "Looks like there really was something wrong with that wine. But why would the Northspirit Sect want to tamper with it?"

Having realized this, Evan couldn't bring it up with Simon Spring and the others. If it wasn't the wine, he'd only cause trouble for himself. So he decided to let it go for now and turned his attention to his Light Attribute. "Too little light—no way to tell if the ambient light in the void is useful or not." When dawn came, Evan looked up at the sky. The light overhead came from a huge array in the void; at night it gradually weakened, and by day it grew stronger. This world was entirely covered by a place where night and day met.

"How are the lights of these realms produced, anyway?" Evan wondered as he gazed at the sky.

Evan stepped outside, gazed at the sky, closed his eyes, and tried to use his own attributes to see if he could absorb any of the light.

After half an hour, he found it was indeed possible to absorb the light, but only in minuscule amounts. If he really wanted to grow stronger by relying on this, he'd have to sit under the light for hundreds of millions of years. Faced with this result, Evan felt helpless, but he remained curious about how the light in the void was formed.

"Hey, kid, why are you spacing out?" Elder Simon Spring asked curiously, seeing Evan sitting on a rock by the door, lost in thought.

"It's nothing, just thinking about some things," Evan replied.

"Thinking? I doubt it's just that," Elder Simon Spring said suspiciously. He always felt Evan was a bit strange, impossible to read.

Evan smiled, "Elder Spring, it's normal to think about things. I often get so absorbed in thought that I zone out."

"I see. Well, let's go, don't waste time. I heard you defeated Sean Shen too—I hope you can get a good result this time, don't let our Blue Robe Sect lose face," Elder Simon Spring said.

"If I get first place, does that mean the prize is mine?" Evan asked.

Elder Simon Spring paused for a moment, then said, "First place? You think it's that easy? If you really do get first, what's the harm in giving it to you."

"Since Elder Spring said so, don't hide it when the time comes—I'll collect it myself," Evan said.

"Well, I'd like to see what skills you have to take first place—especially with so many sects here," Elder Simon Spring said.

"We'll see soon enough," Evan replied.

"Alright, let's go." Elder Simon Spring said, then muttered to himself, "Even if you're dual-attribute, first place isn't guaranteed. But if you really do get first, both you and that item will be mine—and my Dual-Heaven Pill will finally be complete."

Evan had no idea what Elder Simon Spring was thinking, but his sixth sense always felt danger, so he naturally kept his guard up around Elder Spring.

Sean Shen and Bald Lee had already come out and followed Elder Simon Spring to the Duel Arena—the same place where Sean competed yesterday. Now, though, there were four more arenas, making five in total, so five teams could fight at once.

The Northspirit Sect had each sect's representative draw lots for their numbers.

Elder Simon Spring drew number five, while number six went to a sect called the Moonbreeze Sect. This sect was made up entirely of women, and it was said they only accepted wind-attribute females. Because of that, their numbers were few, but every member was an elite.

"Wind attribute?" Evan wondered. He only knew that wind attribute was rare, so for a sect to focus entirely on wind attribute seemed a bit much.

Not only wind attribute, but all female—that made things even harder. Evan was curious how many people such a sect could have.

Once all the numbers were assigned, each sect would send out three fighters. When all three from one side were defeated, that sect lost and the other won.

For the Blue Robe Sect and Moonbreeze Sect, their match was set at the third arena. The Blue Robe Sect only had three people, so there was no need to choose—just those three. Elder Simon Spring arranged the order: Bald Lee first, Sean Shen second, Evan third.

When Sean Shen and Bald Lee saw this arrangement, they were a bit unhappy. It basically meant Evan was considered stronger than them, but that was the truth, so they couldn't argue.

The Moonbreeze Sect also sent out three women. The first was named Faye Lan.

She took the stage, as did Bald Lee, while the others waited below. Evan didn't pay attention to the other groups, only watching his own to see how strong the Moonbreeze Sect's fighters were.

"Please," Faye Lan said.

"Then I won't hold back," Bald Lee replied.

"No need to hold back," Faye Lan said calmly.

As soon as Bald Lee finished, he unleashed his qi. Both sides released their energy; it was about equal, so neither looked weaker. But once they really started fighting, Bald Lee was clearly slower—his opponent was wind-attribute and could borrow the wind to boost attack and movement speed. Bald Lee was always a step behind and ended up losing badly.

"So frustrating," Bald Lee grumbled as he left the arena, furious and nursing several injuries.

"They focus on wind, so borrowing its power is normal. When you fight them, you have to keep them at range—if they get close, you'll lose," Elder Simon Spring said.
