The Child and Doudou’s Foolish Deed

2/14/2026

Feng Manor has been bustling lately. The steward, though busy, is happily so—his spirits are higher than ever, and he greets each day with a broad smile. The whole estate feels alive again.

With the Valley Master, Dr. Elliot Redwater, and Dr. Marcus Guile all staying at Feng Manor, Victor Yun and Caleb Wang have also moved in. They each have a good excuse—Victor claims he’s persuading Dr. Redwater and Dr. Guile, while Caleb says the Valley Master is overseeing his recovery. As for the Jiangnan plans, everyone tacitly keeps quiet.

Ever since Prince Samuel Zhai returned from the palace, he hasn’t left. Dominic Zhai’s duties were stripped from him when Prince Samuel was demoted to commoner, and others have taken over protecting Imperial Noble Consort Helena Hsieh and the Eighth Prince. Now, grandfather and grandson are both holed up in Feng Manor, living off Serena’s hospitality.

A crowd brings energy. Seeing Feng Manor so lively, the steward even sneaks a tear at night: at last, the estate is full of life again—it’s no longer cold and deserted.

But more people means more complications. At this point, it’s really not appropriate for Imperial Noble Consort Helena Hsieh to keep living at Feng Manor. Serena discusses it with her, suggesting Helena return to the palace, while Serena will visit daily to check on the Little Prince.

Helena hesitates for ages, mumbling and stalling, unwilling to agree. Serena knows Helena wants to use this chance to meet the Valley Master and get him to treat either the Eighth Prince or herself.

Serena doesn’t call Helena out directly, nor does she mention that with Helena’s status alone, she could never get the Valley Master to intervene. The prescription he left for the Eighth Prince is already a rare favor.

Serena understands Helena’s intentions and knows she means no harm, only acting out of concern for the Eighth Prince. But people shouldn’t be too greedy—the Valley Master has already prescribed medicine for the prince; expecting him to act again is nearly impossible.

Since persuasion fails, Serena goes straight to the Valley Master and asks him to find a way to send Helena back. Originally, she brought Helena and the Eighth Prince to the manor for her own safety, but now...

With the Valley Master and several men staying here, it’s really inappropriate for Helena to remain in Feng Manor. If anything goes wrong, it won’t just be her who suffers the consequences.
