In the Shadows, Fingers Intertwined

1/4/2026

Even if it meant making things awkward, Sylvia Ran was determined to make them squirm. Today was supposed to be her date!

But the man sitting next to her hadn't looked her way once from start to finish!

As for Rona Muir...

Sylvia Ran, tears threatening to spill, shot Charles Yin a furious look, demanding answers.

After what happened that night, Charles Yin and Cecilia Gu each went home, and neither contacted the other.

Cecilia Gu hadn't expected that the next time they'd meet, Charles Yin would use such a unique way to gather everyone for a meal.

She understood Charles Yin's intentions completely.

During the meal, Cecilia Gu and Charles Yin acted as if no one else was there, while Rona Muir happily played the background role.

Only Sylvia Ran sat there alone, her failed attempt at blending into the background obvious from her blank expression. That was the one thing Charles Yin absolutely couldn't tolerate.

Sylvia Ran was honestly about to cry. Charles Yin gave them a knowing, meaningful smile.

She just couldn't figure it out—how exactly had she lost to Cecilia Gu?

Why did Cecilia Gu have to keep haunting her like this?

Charles Yin only ate the snacks Cecilia Gu brought; he didn't touch any of the other food. People say that when you're in love, you can't help but crave being close.

Cecilia Gu didn't mind at all; whatever Charles Yin gave her, she ate.

The two took turns, one feeding the other, and quickly finished lunch.

"Full? I'm full too. Let's go watch a movie! It starts in half an hour." Sylvia Ran checked her watch and said to Cecilia Gu.

"Okay," Cecilia Gu nodded in response.

Before the two could get up, Charles Yin spoke again: "Where are you going to watch the movie?"

"Wanda," Rona Muir answered. "It's a special screening today, and the Douban score is pretty good."

Charles Yin gave a mischievous, almost cunning smile. "Alright, you guys go ahead."
