"You want this old man dead? Not so easy!" The Heavenly God Old Ancestor roared, his voice full of fury.
But when he saw that Evan Cole had taken his powerful attack without injury, the shock in his heart was indescribable—it completely overturned everything he thought he knew.
Seize the moment when your enemy is weak—Evan Cole didn't unleash Divine Cleave right away. Instead, he frantically circulated his mighty Chaos Immortal Force within, channeling it into his eyes. He was ready to hit his opponent hard with the Icefire Eye, then follow up with Divine Cleave to finish him off.
He'd already picked his target: the enemy's eyes. Maybe this strike would end the old man's life outright. Even if not, he'd be blinded—crippled and easy to finish off once his strength plummeted.
He acted as soon as the thought formed. Just as the Heavenly God Old Ancestor unleashed another devastating attack, two beams shot out from Evan Cole's eyes—so fast his foe couldn't react. Both beams struck the old man's eyes in an instant.
A howl of agony burst from the Old Ancestor's mouth. His eyes were instantly turned into bloody holes, his skull pierced through, and his whole body tumbled from the sky, crashing halfway down the mountainside.
Evan Cole flashed forward, arriving right in front of him. The Heavenly God Old Ancestor wasn't dead yet, but he couldn't stand—surviving such a brutal wound was bizarre enough.
"Old geezer, how does that feel? Are you finally tasting despair? You dare show off in front of me? So what if you're Heavenly God Realm—in my eyes, you're nothing but an ant! Killing you is child's play!" Evan Cole sneered, grinning coldly.
Finishing him off was now a breeze. Evan Cole's worries vanished—he hadn't expected that after his breakthrough, the Icefire Eye would be this powerful. It was a truly satisfying surprise.
"Kid, don't get cocky! Even if I die, I'll drag you down with me!" The Heavenly God Old Ancestor somehow stood up again, his aura surging higher and higher.
Seeing the old man's reaction, Evan Cole was shocked—only one thought flashed through his mind: "Self-detonation!" He hadn't expected the old geezer to choose such a suicidal end. At this point, self-destruction was his only option for taking Evan down with him.
Evan Cole had no idea how destructive a Heavenly God Realm expert's self-detonation could be, but he was certain it would devastate half the Netherworld—or maybe wipe it out entirely. There was no way he could allow that to happen.
His own life aside, Princess Ivy, the Emerald Immortal Empress, and Chase would be doomed as well. He had to kill the old man before he could explode.
Without a moment's hesitation, Evan Cole swung the Frostbane Divine Sword with all his might—another Divine Cleave. At the critical instant, the blade struck, and the Heavenly God Old Ancestor's body was blasted into fragments.
The mountain peak itself was leveled—but that wasn't the end. As Evan Cole struck down the Heavenly God Old Ancestor, a white beam of light erupted from the corpse and shot into the sky, vanishing instantly.
Evan Cole was baffled by this sight. Why would a white light appear—and fly off into the void? But with the old man dead, Evan finally breathed a sigh of relief. The dizziness from the Icefire Eye hit him, making his body sway unsteadily.
Meanwhile, in a vast palace somewhere, a middle-aged man stared into a basin-sized mirror and said, "I never thought anyone could kill the people we've stationed in the lower world. The Netherworld is in trouble now!"
"Does the Venerable Lord know who did it? There's no way anyone in the lower world could kill a Heavenly God Realm expert—unless a powerhouse from the Demonic Realm broke the spatial laws and descended!" another middle-aged man asked, his face full of doubt.
"Breaking the laws of heaven and earth is impossible—even with my strength, I couldn't do it. Let's see who the killer is!" said the man addressed as Venerable Lord.
A white beam appeared in his hand and shot into the smooth surface of the mirror. Instantly, an image appeared—Evan Cole's figure. The two men stiffened in shock the moment they saw him.
"Lord Frostbane? How—how is this possible!" The two men blurted out in unison, clearly unable to accept what they were seeing.
"Didn't Lord Frostbane die years ago? How could he appear in the Netherworld? What's going on here?" one of the middle-aged men asked.
"I can't say for sure," the Venerable Lord replied, "but that's definitely Lord Frostbane. Maybe he entered reincarnation. Did you see the Frostbane Divine Sword in his hand? That was the legendary weapon! Why would Lord Frostbane target our Netherworld people? Strange, very strange!"
Evan Cole was oblivious to all this. Right now, his heart was overflowing with the joy of victory—he'd never dreamed he could slay a Heavenly God Realm powerhouse.
With his newfound strength, Evan felt even more confident about the coming Immortal-Demon War—though he had no idea how dangerous it would truly be, and he'd pay a heavy price for underestimating it.
Evan Cole took out the jade communication token the Beast King had given him, twisted it hard, and shattered it. A streak of green light flashed through the air and vanished.
Evan soared into the sky, surveying the ruined ground below. Battles between true powerhouses were earth-shattering—he wondered what fights in the Divine Realm would look like. Could a casual strike destroy an entire world?
The dizziness slowly faded. Evan Cole circulated his Chaos Immortal Force and, finding nothing amiss, finally relaxed.
After a while, the Beast King and King Victor Zhao appeared in the sky before Evan Cole. Seeing that, aside from his tattered clothes, Evan was unharmed, they were both surprised.
But when they saw the ground below had been utterly transformed, both were stunned. What kind of power could do this? The two stared straight at Evan Cole.
"Why are you staring at me? Surprised, aren't you? I barely survived this time—if I hadn't broken through at the last second, you'd be looking at my corpse right now. Maybe not even a corpse!" Evan Cole laughed.
"Lin Feng, were those two Old Ancestors at Divine Realm already? How did you manage to kill them?" King Victor Zhao asked.
"One had reached Divine Realm, the other broke through to Heavenly God Realm just as I was about to finish him. That's why I barely survived!" Evan Cole replied coolly, as if the danger hadn't fazed him at all.
"Heavenly God Realm?" the two echoed, their eyes nearly popping out of their heads as they stared at Evan Cole in terror...
