Every game with a level-up system has one universal truth: experience requirements. The higher your level, the more XP you need, and that makes leveling up a whole lot harder.
The Titan Spirit Method is one of those skills where the experience gap between levels is just insane. Back in Grandmaster Gold's day, regular folks took seven or eight years just to get from level two to three, and then double that for the next jump—sixteen, seventeen years! Honestly, it’s even more depressing than waiting for a promotion in some old-school state-owned company.
Even if you’re a bit of a genius, you’re still looking at around ten years. And if you’re a prodigy like Grandmaster Gold, it’s still half a year. Compared to him, Jill Young’s progress is like riding a rocket.
Let’s put it in MMO terms: Grandmaster Gold and his crew are the folks who just sit around meditating in the inn, racking up pity XP, so of course it’s slow as molasses. Jill Young, on the other hand, goes out to the ancient world, hunts and feasts—basically grinding monsters for real XP, so she levels up way faster. And now, with some serious cash, it’s like she’s buying high-VIP status and chugging XP potions bought with cold, hard cash.
“Tsk tsk, Earth’s beasts just don’t cut it.” Jill Young gnawed on a piece of shark fin—the original owner was a great white, mind you. You’d think these ocean bosses would be way stronger than the ancient world’s black wolf cattle, but after actually eating it, the life essence it gave wasn’t all that impressive. “Feels like Earth’s beasts are missing something.”
Looks like, after leveling up, the quality of XP potions just isn’t keeping up. But hey, if quality’s lacking, just go for quantity! Ever since Jill Young made a name for herself in the Death Cage Match and Blood Pit, her schedule’s been way more chill, so she’s been holed up, training hard. She even got Jonathan Black to lend her an empty warehouse for daily practice sessions.
“If only I could run into another sea monster like that…” Jill Young still can’t forget that super XP potion she scored by pure luck. See, eating and digesting has a speed limit, and her body can only absorb so much life essence at a time. She can only drink a few XP potions a day, so the quality really matters.
Since she couldn’t improve the quality of her XP potions, Jill Young decided to go old-school and use some traditional training methods to boost her progress.
This method requires some special training equipment.
“Drink!” Jill Young grabbed a ball slightly bigger than a bowling ball and started tossing it around. Sometimes she’d flex her arms and throw it two or three meters up before catching it again, just like a gymnast playing with a ball. Soon enough, she was sweating a little. Of course, Jill Young isn’t tossing around some balloon—the ball she’s using is made of composite metal and weighs a whopping fifty kilos.
That’s right—this is the legit way to train for the Titan Spirit Method: Fourth Level. According to the manual, you’re supposed to gather all your strength and toss a hundred-pound stone ball two stories up. But Jill Young’s standards are way higher. She’s been leveling up by absorbing life essence, so her Titan Spirit Method is even stronger. She’s just started the fourth level, but she’s already training with hundred-pound weights.
Plus, Jill Young sets the bar even higher for herself. Just chucking the ball around is way too basic. If you wanna be a boss, you gotta make it look like rhythmic gymnastics—lifting heavy stuff like it’s nothing, moving with grace and confidence, total control. That’s the real deal!
No one knows how powerful she’ll be when she really masters it.
“Huh, these time-travel novels are super popular lately.” Jill Young balanced the ball with her foot while scrolling through a web novel on her phone. “Whoa! The tips alone add up to a hundred grand in RMB? Who’s this crazy rich fan?”
Just as she was reading, her phone pinged—a text from Sophie Soo. Instantly, Jill pictured her cousin’s sweet, round, smiling face and couldn’t help but smile herself. Jill’s always gotten along well with her cousins and keeps in touch often. Of course, calling is off the table right now—even when her mom calls, she has to dodge it with Weibo, QQ, whatever, as long as it’s not voice.
“Little Derek’s been totally out of it these past couple days, acting super weird. I kept pressing him and finally found out that some strange uncle dragged him into an alley and did something mysterious. He won’t say what, no matter what. Cousin, do you think he’s been…?”
Jill Young squinted at the screen for a moment, then replied: “I warned him ages ago—never trust weird uncles or muscle bros, but did he listen? Nope. Now look, regret city. Anyway, tell Uncle to keep an eye on him for a while. If things get dicey, show him some spicy pinup pics—just don’t let him drift to the dark side.”
Soon enough, Sophie Soo texted back: “Okay, you’re right. Cousin, when are you coming over to hang out? It’s been forever!”
Sophie’s invited Jill over tons of times, and now Jill’s got all the free time in the world. But sorry, ‘cousin’ is currently offline. So she tapped out a reply: “Maybe in a bit. Work’s not super flexible, hard to find the time.” Good thing she never mentioned quitting—‘busy at work’ is still a solid excuse.
Ping—another text. This time it’s from ‘Dumb Bear Kid,’ Derek Soo’s nickname. Speak of the devil! “What’s wrong with the world? It’s a mess! So hopeless! Is there any saving it, or should we just let it all burn?”
Yep, that attitude is unmistakable.
Jill Young texted back right away: “Derek, don’t go losing hope! Even if you’ve been ambushed by a mysterious uncle, you’re still a proud man—don’t go spiraling into the world of yaoi! If the only Soo family boy turns out rotten, Grandpa will literally kill you!”
“Come on! That’s not it!! What’s wrong with people these days—wouldn't you normally think it was a mugging? Why does everyone jump to the weird stuff? You and Sophie are hopeless!”

Honestly, anyone who hears ‘a shota and a creepy uncle in a mysterious alley’ and thinks ‘robbery’—well, that kind of thinking was already dying out when I was in high school. By college, it was basically extinct! You talk like that and still claim to be a proud Gen Z?
Text goes out, text comes back—Derek’s totally speechless: “Can we drop this joke already? I’m straight, okay? Like, super straight—always daydreaming about the class beauty next door! So chill. But here’s the thing: I’ve got a friend, a close one, who disappeared back in April. It’s been over a month and still no news.”
“Missing? April?” Jill Young’s mind started to turn.
“Yeah, right on the night the White Night Descended. He was fine in class that day, but after that, he just vanished. The guy’s basically the class heartthrob—tons of girls had crushes on him. Now everyone, teachers and classmates, are freaking out.”
The day the White Night Descended, huh? After that, missing persons started piling up—still no sign, alive or dead. Jill Young had a hunch, but nothing solid yet, so she kept quiet.
Jill Young put down the metal ball and wiped off her sweat. Alright, digestion’s about done—time to eat! She grabbed a fresh slice of meat, cooked up by the top chef Jonathan Black found. This batch? Sweet and sour pork, fancy style.
Jill picked up a piece—nom nom nom, chew chew chew, gulp. Crispy, tender, sweet, and savory—seriously tasty. But wait, something’s off! The life essence in this meat feels different.
Jill put down her chopsticks and took a closer look. The life energy in this slice was way higher than normal!
She slapped down her chopsticks and whipped out her phone: “Bobby, get over here—now, like in three seconds!” When there’s a problem, whether it’s Jonathan Black or Jill Young, the answer is always the same: “Find out where this meat came from!”
