Mother, Don't Cry

Grace forced a smile and said, "Evan, you really don't have to do this. If you want to propose, just go ahead—I won't stop you! I won't throw a fit or threaten my life, I promise. I understand you, I really do! You're the Divine Crown Prince, after all! Of course you need someone who matches your status to be your princess."

She tried her best to keep her composure.

But as she spoke, her voice began to tremble, and tears rolled down uncontrollably.

She quickly wiped her tears with her sleeve and continued, "I'm not here for anything else, just for Ray."

She brought Ray in front of him. "Ray is of dragon blood. I honestly have no idea how to teach him to cultivate. Could you take him to Drake Abyss? I don't ask for much—just that he can train properly and grow up healthy. That's all I want!"

Talking about Ray made her tear up again. She tried to wipe her tears, but the more she wiped, the more they fell—she just couldn't stop crying.

Seeing her like this, Evan's throat tightened, his breathing grew rapid, and his whole body trembled.

"Evan, can you do it?"

Evan didn't answer. Instead, he suddenly turned and slammed the door shut with a bang.

"You don't want me, fine, but do you not want Ray either?" Grace sobbed. "Evan, if you don't want to call him your son, just say you found him outside!"

"Go!" Evan's furious voice came from inside the room.

Hearing his shout, Grace's tears flowed even harder. Staring at the door that was always closed to her, she slowly turned and walked away.

Ray saw Grace crying and started bawling too, calling out, "Mommy, don't cry! Mommy, don't cry!!"

But Grace couldn't hear his voice.

But Evan inside the room could hear it all.

He curled up in the corner, drenched in sweat, his entire body shaking violently.

His clothes were gradually soaked with blood.

He was afflicted by the Immortal Love Hex, right on the way to save Leon Zane.

......

A few hours later, Leon Zane helped Evan change his clothes and asked, "She must've heard some rumor from someone. Should I go explain things to her first?"

Evan shook his head. "If she already believes it, your explanation won't help. Let's go to Cangwu first. I'll explain everything to her myself when the time comes."

"Alright then!"

The two of them headed together to Qishan in Cangwu.

Qishan was filled with rare treasures of nature.

But it was also crawling with poisonous creatures and plants.

The Dovefeather Herb they were searching for was one of those poisonous plants.

If Evan took it and it killed the Immortal Love Hex, he'd be fine.

But if it didn't... the backlash could be fatal for Evan.

Leon found the Dovefeather Herb and frowned. "This is way too risky! Let's forget it. Why not just tell Grace the truth and let her remove the hex for you? Wouldn't that work?"

"No."

"Why put yourself through this? What if something goes terribly wrong..."

"When are you going to stop being so fussy?" Evan retorted.

Leon immediately gave him the Dovefeather Herb to take.

After a while, Leon asked, "How do you feel?"

Evan replied, "Nothing."

"Try thinking about Grace."

Evan thought about Grace, then shook his head. "Still nothing."

Leon checked his pulse, frowning and staying silent for a long time.

Evan asked, "What is it?"

"The hex might be dead."

"Might, or definitely?" Evan's eyes lit up.

"Its aura is faint, I'm not sure."

"Should I take another Dovefeather Herb?"

"No use!" Leon said. "One or ten, it makes no difference."
