Lynn Chen picked out two outfits and went into the fitting room. She took off her clothes, changed, and spun around in front of the mirror.
Both outfits looked great—one was a floral chiffon dress, the other a trendy beige short-sleeve top.
“That Evan Lin is always acting so full of himself. What’s he even showing off for?” Lynn grumbled at her reflection, but she had to admit she looked pretty good.
But for some reason, whenever Evan looked at her now, it felt totally different—nothing like how he used to.
“Who knows what kind of people he hangs out with these days. If he can ignore me, I can ignore him too.” Lynn kept talking to herself in the mirror, humming a tune as her mood lifted.
She pushed open the door, ready to pay, but as soon as she stepped out, she found a group of people blocking her way.
Lynn frowned and tried to walk around, but Tyson Liu shifted his feet and planted himself right in front of her.
“Hey, pretty girl, my little brother’s got his eye on you. How about grabbing dinner and catching a movie with us later? I’ll pay for that outfit.” Tyson Liu lounged with two girls draped over him, lazily chewing gum as he stared at Lynn.
“Sorry, I’m busy. Please move.” Lynn’s brows knitted, and her eyes flashed with disgust at Tyson Liu.
Trevor Liu shook his head off to the side. “Don’t say that. If you squeeze your schedule a bit, you’ll have time. It’s the weekend, after all—I’m sure you’re free.”
Lynn glanced at Trevor Liu. “Do I know you?”
“I’m Trevor Liu, from No. 2 High. Now you know me.” Trevor grinned at Lynn, eyes full of aggression.
Both Lynn and Mia Chen were sweet-looking girls, about the same height. Trevor noticed that when Lynn frowned, she looked uncannily like Mia.
“Trevor Liu? Sorry, never heard of you.” Lynn turned to leave.
Trevor stepped forward and grabbed Lynn’s wrist. “I told you, don’t rush off. It’s the weekend—come eat with me, watch a movie. If you make me happy, I’ll buy you all the clothes you want!”
“I don’t need your money! Let go!” Lynn’s face changed as she tried to break free, but Trevor’s grip was strong—she couldn’t shake him off at all.
“Sir, please don’t manhandle our customers in the store. If you keep this up, I’ll have to call security.” A female shop clerk stepped up and warned Trevor.
“Call security? Ha! Go ahead, call them. Or do you want me to call the cops for you?” Tyson Liu shot the clerk a fierce glare and barked, “Get lost! My brother’s handling things—who asked for your opinion?”
“Keep running your mouth and I’ll kick in your door tonight!”
Tyson’s icy words made the young clerk’s face go pale. She instinctively backed away a few steps.
She caught Lynn’s pleading look but hesitated. In the end, she didn’t dare go for security and turned to greet a new customer instead.
Clearly, she’d weighed the risks and decided not to bring trouble on herself.
“So you don’t want my money? That’s fine—I want you. Stop talking nonsense. As long as you behave, you’ll get plenty of perks.” Trevor Liu watched Lynn struggle, feeling a twisted satisfaction.
It was almost like forcing Mia Chen to give in.
“Yeah, little sis, just come eat and watch a movie with us. Don’t worry, Trevor will treat you well.” A girl smiled at Lynn, trying to coax her.
“And if you stick with Trevor, nobody will dare bully you again. Look at you two—perfect match, brains and beauty.” Another girl giggled and chimed in.
“I don’t care if you’re Trevor or Trash—let me go! If you don’t, I’ll scream!” Lynn was so desperate, she was about to cry.
Who would’ve thought you’d run into thugs like this in a public mall?
Men and women kept passing by, glancing over, but Tyson Liu’s glare sent them all scurrying away.
Tyson Liu looked like bad news, with a street-thug vibe that made every would-be hero freeze in their tracks.
“Then go ahead and scream. I’ll give you five minutes—after that, you’re coming with me. I can wait.” Trevor Liu smirked, completely unfazed. “Anyone who tries to butt in, I’ll beat them to death. I want to see who dares!”
By the end, Trevor’s voice was full of menace. Ever since Evan Lin had shown him up, Trevor’s mood had been rotten. Now that he’d found a pretty girl, there was no way he’d let go so easily.
“Trevor Liu, you think you’re hot stuff?”
Right then, a lazy, mocking voice cut through the tension.
Trevor froze. Tyson Liu raised an eyebrow when he heard the voice. “Wow, someone’s actually dumb enough to mess with us?”
He turned his head and saw a boy standing at the shop entrance.
The boy was dressed in a denim jacket, black shorts, and retro New Balance sneakers. His bangs half-covered his eyes, and he wore a bluish-gray baseball cap.
“You know me?” Trevor Liu eyed the boy outside, thinking he looked familiar but couldn’t place him.
“I don’t know you, but my fists do.” Evan Lin yawned, smirking at Trevor. “It’s only been a few days and you’ve already forgotten your granddaddy?”
“Who do you think you are, acting all cocky? Do you even know who you’re talking to?” one of the girls snapped, glaring at Evan Lin.
“You really think Tyson and Trevor could slap you to death? You must have a death wish!” another girl sneered at Evan Lin.
Evan Lin looked way sharper in his new outfit. Not just Tyson and Trevor—even Lynn was shocked.
Now Evan Lin seemed like a true city kid, with no trace of his old country vibe. What really stunned Lynn was that he felt like a totally different person.
He’d always given Lynn that feeling, even in his old, outdated clothes, but now, in a fresh new look, it was even stronger.
Like an ugly duckling suddenly turning into a swan.
But the cool indifference in Evan Lin’s eyes was still as deep as ever.
“Evan Lin!” Trevor’s face went dark the instant he saw him.
“Wrong—I’m your granddaddy. And a granddaddy is always a granddaddy. Don’t forget it.” Evan Lin tilted his head, lips curled, staring at Trevor and Tyson with utter contempt.
ps: Sorry, only one update today. Get some sleep, everyone. Good night.
