Blade Mountain and Oil Cauldron (1)

2/14/2026

The moment the Ghost Princess heard her daddy had arrived, her arrogance shot through the roof. Her gaze turned cocky as she glared down at Ivy Shen, as if convinced Ivy was dead meat for sure!

Just then, surrounded by a crowd, a massive palanquin quietly descended from the sky. Leading the procession were some of Ivy Shen’s old acquaintances—the underworld reapers, Black Reaper and White Reaper. Beside them stood a kindly old grandpa, who gave Ivy a gentle nod and smile, looking the very picture of benevolence.

Clustered around the palanquin were a bunch of ghostly bailiffs in official uniforms. All of them wore blank, sour faces, like someone owed them five hundred taels—every last one looked like a slab of pig liver!

At that moment, the kindly old grandpa announced, "My lord, we've arrived." With that, he bent down and slowly lifted the huge palanquin’s curtain. Instantly, a pitch-black face appeared inside.

A second later, out strode a burly man dressed in red official robes and a black judge’s hat—imposing and solidly built.

His whole look was straight out of a TV drama—a dead ringer for Zhong Kui, with that same stern black face and zero sense of humor.

“Let go of me!” The second her daddy showed up, the Ghost Princess got all puffed up again. She yanked her hand out of Ivy Shen’s grip and, before King of the Underworld could even speak, ran over bawling, “Daddy, that ghost girl bullied me! She stole my husbands!”

Hearing this, King of the Underworld’s brows slowly knitted together. He didn’t say a word, his face flickering between dark and darker—who knows what he was thinking.

“Daddy, you have to stand up for your daughter! Boohoo, she didn’t just steal my men, she even kicked Granny Hua flying! Look how old Granny Hua is—how could she possibly take such a heavy kick? She’s gonna die at this rate!” the Ghost Princess wailed, piling on the complaints.

Ivy Shen just let out a cold laugh. “Die? Ghost Princess, are you illiterate or just never went to school? Do you seriously think that old lady’s still alive?”

“……” The Ghost Princess was totally stunned by Ivy’s comeback. She hadn’t expected Ivy to mouth off like that right in front of her own dad—did she even know what she was doing?

“Enough! How long do you plan to keep up this nonsense?” King of the Underworld’s voice was tinged with annoyance—clearly, he wasn’t thrilled with his daughter’s ridiculous antics.

“So you’re King of the Underworld?” Ivy Shen cut in, raising an eyebrow. She looked completely fearless.

Her reaction left every ghost in the crowd gobsmacked. They all sucked in a breath—what was this ghost girl doing? Did she have any idea who she was talking to? Was she trying to get herself tossed into the eighteenth hell?

“You don’t have the aura of the dead. What are you doing in the underworld?” King of the Underworld asked coldly.

Everyone gasped again. If this woman didn’t have the aura of the dead, did that mean she wasn’t dead yet? Was her soul just visiting the underworld, or could she actually leave her body behind? Dang, who was this chick?

Seeing this, Ivy Shen curled her lips into a little smile. “Yep, you really are King of the Underworld. Way smarter than those idiots!”

Ivy’s words were a clear dig. The Ghost Princess instantly blew her top, shouting, “You brazen ghost girl! You’re not even dead yet, and you dare come to the underworld—what do you want?”

“What do I want? Good question. I came to the underworld for one reason only—to take my husbands back!” Ivy declared, pointing at the four still-blank-faced men in the sea of flowers.

“You shameless thing! Who do you think you are? What makes you think you can take them? They’re dead—dead men aren’t your husbands anymore! Hurry up and get lost back to the living world!” the Ghost Princess ranted, all her princess dignity out the window, acting like a total shrew.

“Shut up!” Ivy Shen finally lost her temper and yelled at the Ghost Princess. “Say one more word and I’ll knock your teeth out!”

The Ghost Princess froze, suddenly too scared to say anything. But she felt totally humiliated, so she quickly hid behind King of the Underworld and whined, “Daddy, look! She clearly doesn’t respect you or the rules of the underworld!”

Seeing this, Ivy Shen shot the Ghost Princess a deadly glare. Instantly, the Ghost Princess zipped her lips.

“Do you realize they’re already dead?” King of the Underworld said coolly, his words dripping with authority.

“They shouldn’t have died!” Ivy retorted, dodging the question. “You let the real villains go, but you snatch up good people instead.”

“Good or evil, everyone has their own fate. This road was their choice—no one forced them. If you recklessly drag them back to the living world now, you’ll disrupt the order of the underworld,” King of the Underworld replied, his tone icy.

“Save your breath. I’m telling you, I’m taking them today—no matter what. If you try to stop me, I’ll turn this whole underworld upside down!” Ivy shot him a look sharp enough to kill.

At that, King of the Underworld coughed. “Are you threatening me?” he asked. Not that anyone noticed his palms were already sweating.

“Yep, totally threatening you. What are you gonna do about it?” Ivy said, eyes blazing with determination. She’d already decided—worst case, she’d stay here forever with them, and if that happened, she’d make sure every ghost in this place never got a moment’s peace!

“Little Grim, White Reaper, show her what king’s law really means,” King of the Underworld coughed and ordered.

At King of the Underworld’s command, Little Grim and White Reaper immediately swooped over and started unleashing their best moves on Ivy Shen. But last time, they couldn’t beat her—and now, with Ivy powered up by grief, they were even less of a match. In no time, both of them were left battered and covered in dust.

The scene left every ghost in the crowd stunned all over again.

“Wow, Sis, you’re amazing!” Shuai Shuai was totally floored—his big sister was the coolest ever!

“What are you all standing around for? Get her!” the Ghost Princess yelled, and all the ghosts rushed forward.

And just like that, an all-out brawl broke out in the underworld.

“Big brothers, big brothers, wake up! Sis is fighting—she’s fighting for you! Hurry up and wake up!” Shuai Shuai shouted, but the four men still didn’t react. Clearly, that soul-shattering staff hit them hard.

A moment later—

“Enough!” Ivy Shen roared, seeing ghost bodies strewn everywhere. She marched right up to King of the Underworld. “King of the Underworld, what will it take for me to take them back? Or are you just trying to force me to go full berserk?” Her eyes flashed with a vicious, threatening light.

“Y-y-you’ve got some nerve…!” The Ghost Princess sputtered, furious at Ivy’s words.

*Smack!* Ivy Shen, almost on autopilot, appeared next to the Ghost Princess and slapped her flying. Dusting off her hands, she said, “Alright, quiet down. Now—what do I have to do for you to let them go back?”

Ivy knew there were rules in heaven and rules in the underworld. If she just tried to snatch them back by force, these ghostly officials would never let her live it down.

And if her master was off wandering the world, things would get even trickier. The only way was to get King of the Underworld’s official permission—then there’d be nothing to worry about.

“You really want to do this?” King of the Underworld asked coldly.

“Yes! No matter what it takes, I’m bringing them back!” Ivy said, face full of resolve.

“There are two hours till dawn. If, by then, they haven’t regained their memories, even if you drag them back to the Serpent Realm, they’ll be brainless forever—just empty shells. Still, since you risked your life to come here, I’ll give you a chance. But whether you can pull it off is up to you,” King of the Underworld suddenly smiled.

“Say it. Whatever it is, I’ll do it!”

“It’s simple. To take them away, you have to survive Blade Mountain and the Oil Cauldron. If you have time left, you can help them recover their memories. If you succeed, you can take them,” King of the Underworld said, a sly grin on his face—clearly, there was a catch.

“No way!” Shuai Shuai suddenly jumped up. “King of the Underworld, there’s no way Sis can get through Blade Mountain and the Oil Cauldron in just two hours! Blade Mountain is so high, even at top speed it’d take an hour to climb and half an hour to get down. And that’s if she survives—never mind the Oil Cauldron…” Shuai Shuai’s voice trailed off, clearly realizing how unfair the challenge was.

“That’s why it’s called a challenge—if it were easy, what’s the point?” King of the Underworld shrugged.

“You—” Shuai Shuai wanted to argue, but Ivy held him back. “Fine, I accept!”
