I'm planning to head back now, go straight to Hugh Thompson, and ask him to help me investigate the current status of those guys who went to A City for outdoor mountaineering. After all, it's been months.
Li Ting once said she was close friends with one of them. After that base was discovered, the friend told Li Ting immediately. She originally planned to interview, but received a military warning—it's a restricted area, outsiders are forbidden, and nothing can be leaked.
Li Ting didn't press further, since she had a lot on her plate. At that time, when Samuel Young rescued Li Ting and the others, Li Ting's sister was also present. After learning Samuel Young was from the Dao Sect, Li Ting told him many things and even showed him her ongoing investigations. That facility was one of them.
At 11 o'clock, I went straight into Redhair's office. Hugh Thompson was already waiting for me, but Redhair and the others weren't there.
"Yin Choujian told you to wait here. After twelve, he'll come see you directly."
I made a sound of acknowledgment, then got straight to the point and told Hugh Thompson everything about that facility.
"Then there's no need for me to go, Ethan. With Fang Datong as a specimen, that's enough."
I responded, not agreeing with Hugh Thompson's view.
"Ethan, I'll help you investigate right now."
Hugh Thompson sat down at Redhair's desk, opened his laptop, and after a while, I watched in surprise as he seemed to be contacting someone. But the chat window was black, filled with strings of characters, numbers, and symbols I couldn't understand.
"Wait about an hour, Ethan."
Later I learned that this was the intelligence department of the Ghost Burial Squad, scattered across the country. Last time, most of the main members had been captured, and the Ghost Star was taken somewhere unknown. The squad was basically wiped out.
But the intelligence department remained, searching for information day and night.
However, half an hour later, I saw a skull appear on the computer screen, followed by strings of characters. Hugh Thompson looked troubled.
"What's wrong, Thompson?"
"All perished. Two months ago."
I swallowed and quietly watched Hugh Thompson.
"Maybe it's not that simple. The intelligence agents over there have started investigating."
I waited in silence. Hugh Thompson spoke to me, and at noon, people from the Dao Sect arrived. They wanted to negotiate with the Seven Ghost Sovereigns, offering to fulfill one request for each in exchange for nine magical artifacts.
The first negotiation was with Yin Choujian. I smiled bitterly, finally understanding why Samuel Young said he was leaving in a few days—he must be heading somewhere far away.
At noon, I sensed a surge of powerful Ghost Aura, along with another faint one, both rushing toward us at high speed.
With a whoosh, Yin Choujian and Mr. Brown entered together.
"Ethan, sorry to keep you waiting. Let's go."
I made a confused sound, looking at Mr. Brown in bewilderment.
"Where are you all headed?"
I asked, and Yin Choujian smiled, walked over, and patted my shoulder.
"You'll know once we get there, brother. Come on, don't ask."
I looked at Yin Choujian with resentment and muttered.
"Always 'you'll know when you get there', huh."
Helpless, I could only follow the two of them out of the building. Mr. Brown's body began to glow green and expand, while Yin Choujian climbed onto his shoulder.
"Can you keep up, Ethan?"
"I'll give it a try."
As I spoke, I saw Mr. Brown turn into a flash of green light and shoot southward. I hurried to follow, but in an instant, Mr. Brown had left me more than a kilometer behind.
Mr. Brown slowed down, seemingly waiting for me, and I sped up to catch up.
"Brother, hurry up. At your speed, you won't make it before dawn."
I made a sound of acknowledgment, then released a large amount of Ghost Aura. My speed increased immediately, and Mr. Brown accelerated as well.
No matter how hard I tried along the way, I could only make Mr. Brown slow down and wait for me. Yin Choujian sat on his shoulder like a lord, completely relaxed.
"Can't you fly on your own?"
I muttered as I caught up to Mr. Brown.
"With such a convenient machine, why would I bother flying?"
"Young master, I'm not a machine. If you keep joking, I'll throw you off and you'll have to walk yourself."
Mr. Brown said, and Yin Choujian immediately shut up, turning away and ignoring me.
Finally, around 4 a.m., Mr. Brown landed in the mountains ahead. I quickly followed, and after landing, Yin Choujian got off Mr. Brown's shoulder.
"Where is this?"
"Ethan, we're heading to Mount Immeasurable."
I responded, while Yin Choujian looked around.
"Looks like trouble. Finding Mount Immeasurable won't be easy."
Mr. Brown then explained that Mount Immeasurable is a sacred mountain of the Dao Sect, a burial ground for many Daoist practitioners. For ghosts, it's extremely repellent, making it very hard to find.
Yin Choujian and Mr. Brown came ahead to avoid being controlled by others. Though the Nine Dao Gate Elders agreed to bring them into Mount Immeasurable, Yin Choujian decided to come on his own to investigate how to enter and what kind of harm it poses to ghosts.
I nodded in understanding. So they came to scout the enemy first.

"Young master, according to those Dao Sect people, Mount Immeasurable should be around here. I just checked—there are at least 500 mountains within 600 kilometers. It's hard to find."
"You and me, plus you have seven, right, brother?"
I responded, then realized Yin Choujian wanted me to run errands for him.
"Alright, brother, send your Ghost Souls out in all directions to search. I'll keep watch for a while."
I could only comply. Whoosh—my six Ghost Souls shot off in all directions.
"By the way, don't you all have multiple Ghost Souls?"
I just remembered, but Yin Choujian shook his head immediately.
"Brother, we're not like ordinary Blue Wraiths, you know."
Mr. Brown explained that high-level Blue Wraiths, after manifesting Wraith Armament, Shadow Realm, and Ghost Souls, their originally scattered Ghost Souls begin to merge into a single, stronger one. To kill them, you have to destroy the Ghost Soul repeatedly.
