Factory Progress
"Indeed, the wisdom of the working people is limitless!" Princess Jade Hayes nodded in agreement.
April took Princess Jade Hayes to her sample display room, where rows upon rows of finished bun hairpieces were neatly arranged.
Princess Jade Hayes took a look and saw that the styles of the bun hairpieces were truly diverse, with every kind of hairdo imaginable. There were also many types of hairpiece clips, enough to suit people of all ages.
April was very excited and said, "Princess Jade, I think these hairdos would really suit you. Let me try them on you!"
Seeing April's enthusiasm, Princess Jade Hayes couldn't refuse. She sat down and let April style her hair.
April undid Princess Jade’s hair, then carefully restyled it, finishing with one of the bun hairpieces she’d picked out.
Princess Jade looked in the mirror. "Beautiful! This hairdo is gorgeous. If I did it with my own hair, I’d need a lot of volume and spend ages styling it. Your bun hairpiece is so convenient—saves time and effort, and you can’t even tell it’s not real."
April looked Princess Jade up and down. "Princess Jade, your own hair is so black and thick—like silk. You can pull off these hairdos with your real hair. But most people aren’t so lucky. They couldn’t do such beautiful styles before, but now with our bun hairpieces, anyone can have lovely hair no matter how thin it is."
"Yes, April, you really have a clever mind." Princess Jade admired the hairdo from every angle—it was beautiful and so practical.
April picked out several bun hairpieces that suited Princess Jade, packed them into a box, and insisted on giving them to her as a gift.
Princess Jade accepted them with a smile. April said, "Princess Jade, remember to wear the hairpieces I gave you when you go out."
"Oh? Why’s that?" Princess Jade laughed.
April grinned, "So you can be my walking advertisement! If people see Princess Jade wearing our hairpieces, everyone else will want to follow suit."
Princess Jade burst out laughing. "Well, April, you little rascal, you want me to be your spokesperson! But your idea’s not bad. Go talk to your sister later—we have connections with plenty of noblewomen in the capital. Let White Dew make a list for you, and you can gift bun hairpieces to them as presents under the Queen’s name. Once those ladies start wearing them, a hairpiece craze will sweep through the city. Your products will sell like hotcakes!"
April jumped up in excitement. "Wow, Princess Jade, you’re amazing! Just a few words from you are worth more than half a year of my own trial and error! I’ll go find my sister as soon as I finish up today!"
With the Wig Workshop thriving, Princess Jade Hayes finished her inspection and headed next door to check on the progress of the Textile Factory.
Ye Nanfeng saw the boss arrive and quickly came over to give a report.
"The factory building is nearly complete—just two more months to go. We’ve already built three Power Looms, and once the building is ready, we’ll move them in and start production. The looms will run on electricity from our Steam Generator. We’ve coordinated with the Yuncheng coal mine to ensure a steady coal supply. If all goes well, the factory can open in two months. Right now, the mulberry silk supply near Chang’an isn’t enough for our needs, but we’ve arranged for Lady Chen’s family to provide raw silk in the early stages, so production is guaranteed," Ye Nanfeng reported.
Princess Jade nodded. "The Textile Factory will hire women workers and provide training. Since everyone’s using these machines for the first time, we must make sure they’re fully trained before starting. Luckily, most people can read now—it’s much easier to teach them."
