I searched all over the house but couldn’t find the corpse. Its whereabouts had become a mystery. After I went outside, I found Old Ren in the villagers’ quarters and brought him back. Then, it was as if Old Ren had become numb—he just stood there, unable to sense the corpse’s presence. There was a trace of the corpse’s aura in that house, but outside, there was no sign of it at all.

Suddenly, both of us were stunned, completely lost. We had no idea where the revenant had gone.

I had to hurry back and tell Rachel. I rushed to the place where Rachel and the others were being held, but when I entered, I found that Rachel and William Wu were gone. My anger flared instantly.

The police officers downstairs were still unconscious, and the room showed no signs that anyone had entered.

Fuming, I unleashed my Deathbane Aura—a mystical force used to combat supernatural entities. Aside from sensing some people nearby, there was nothing else. Then, I noticed something strange—it was Old Ren. In a flash, I used all my strength and instantly moved to Old Ren’s side.

"Ethan... it's that guy..."

I saw Old Ren slowly sinking, as if the ground were turning to mud. I rushed over, reaching out to grab the half of his hand still above the surface, but I was too late. Furious, I shouted and punched the mud-like ground.

In an instant, my fist struck solid ground. On the surface, a pair of mocking eyes appeared, staring at me.

"Who the hell are you?" I roared angrily. Just now, I realized my Deathbane Aura—a mystical force used to repel evil—could shatter the ground, but in that instant, the ground absorbed all of it.

"Heh, Ethan Zhang, you think your childish tricks can do anything? Go home, wash up, and get some sleep. Don’t meddle anymore. You’ve got quite a reputation, you know!"
