Make Your Move

Joe Di looked at Ruben Redlin in confusion. "Who are you?"

He suspected Ruben Redlin was the master of Trirobe Sanctuary. But having just arrived, if Ruben invited him so openly just because he had something valuable, who would dare reveal treasures in Trirobe Sanctuary in the future?

Normally, such things would be done by others. The founder and master of Trirobe Sanctuary shouldn't behave this way.

Ruben Redlin smiled faintly. "Indeed, it is my friend who seeks you. He said you might pass through Trirobe Sanctuary and asked me to deliver a message."

Ruben Redlin's words immediately made it clear to everyone present—he wasn't deceiving Joe Di. Someone truly entrusted Ruben to call Joe Di for a matter.

Joe Di could also tell Ruben Redlin wasn't lying. At their level of cultivation, sometimes intuition alone could reveal whether someone was telling the truth.

But he hadn't made any friends here at all. If it was a Saint Seat Holder from the Chaos Skyship looking for him, Joe Di was even less likely to believe it.

Not to mention whether a Saint Seat Holder could arrive here so quickly—even if they did, they couldn't possibly order Ruben Redlin around. Besides, apart from Saint Henry Yi, he truly had no dealings with those Saint Seat Holders.

That meant only one possibility for who was seeking him: it had to be someone related to Grant Chase, whom he had slain, or the forces behind Luna Zhi.

According to Grant Chase, Luna Zhi's father, Eugene Zhi, was a Fourth Step Edict Saint and the true power behind the Grand Yin Divine Court. As an Edict Saint, if his daughter was killed, he would surely discover clues from her soul jade token.

Thinking of this, Joe Di smiled slightly. "If that's the case, please lead the way."

He didn't mention Eugene Zhi seeking him. Even if Eugene Zhi was looking for him, he might not be able to clearly see his appearance.

Eugene Zhi must have told Ruben Redlin about his daughter's death and asked him to set up a checkpoint here. As a newcomer, it was no surprise that Ruben would investigate him.

Joe Di didn't realize his guess was almost entirely correct. But Ruben Redlin had found him, not because he was a stranger, but because of his silhouette.

"Very well." Ruben Redlin looked at Joe Di with admiration as he spoke.

If it were anyone else, they likely wouldn't have agreed to walk with him. Of course, if Joe Di had refused, Ruben would have acted directly. What he hadn't expected was that Joe Di agreed without hesitation.

Whether Joe Di understood he had no choice, or simply didn't fear him, Ruben appreciated such straightforward and bold cultivators.

......

After leaving the White Jade Auction House, Ruben Redlin stopped. "You have an impressive spirit, my friend. I trust you've guessed it—Trirobe Sanctuary was founded by me. I'm not a petty man, so I'll give you two choices: come with me to my Trirobe Dao Hall, or we can leave Trirobe Sanctuary and talk elsewhere."

Joe Di smiled. "I've just arrived, so why make things complicated? I'll visit your Trirobe Dao Hall as a guest."

Ruben Redlin's Dao aura was powerful—he was definitely an Edict Saint. Since he had chosen Joe Di, there was no need for Joe Di to avoid him.

A Fourth Step powerhouse? He had killed such figures before, and more than one. Ruben Redlin might be far stronger than Saint Byron, the pseudo-Fourth Step, but so what?

Another reason Joe Di agreed to Ruben Redlin's invitation without hesitation was his desire to test his own strength against the Edict Saints here.

If Ruben Redlin could recognize him, then Eugene Zhi likely could as well. Ruben was the whetstone Joe Di would use against Eugene Zhi in the future.

Ruben Redlin had already prepared for Joe Di to leave Trirobe Sanctuary. He let Joe Di leave for two reasons: first, he wasn't afraid Joe Di would escape; second, he didn't want his own reputation to suffer.

Trirobe Dao Hall belonged to him. If Joe Di entered with him and then vanished, everyone would know who was responsible.

Now, by openly leaving Trirobe Sanctuary with Joe Di, he was telling everyone that if Joe Di disappeared in the future, it had nothing to do with him, Ruben Redlin. Besides, outside Trirobe Sanctuary, who would care about a nobody like Joe Di?

What surprised him was that Joe Di didn't choose to leave the city, but instead chose to go to his Trirobe Dao Hall. Could Joe Di also be an Edict Saint?

Ruben Redlin frowned slightly. It didn't seem likely. Even if Joe Di was an Edict Saint, Ruben's territory was fortified with various grand arrays—what made Joe Di so confident to go with him to Trirobe Dao Hall?

"Well, why aren't you leading the way?" Even though Ruben Redlin was only momentarily distracted, Joe Di still reminded him.

This was a contest of psychological momentum. Joe Di admitted he didn't fear Ruben Redlin, but any chance to take the initiative, he wouldn't let slip.

Ruben Redlin laughed heartily. "In that case, after you."

......

Trirobe Dao Hall was truly the center of Trirobe Sanctuary, where the world's vital energy was most concentrated. As soon as Joe Di stepped into the protective array of Trirobe Dao Hall, he inwardly marveled—this place was perfect for secluded cultivation.

If he cultivated here, it wouldn't take many years to break through to the Creation Realm.

As soon as Joe Di entered the protective array of Trirobe Dao Hall, Ruben Redlin immediately activated the trap and killing arrays. He hadn't planned to kill Joe Di here, but since Joe Di insisted on coming, he could only proceed as Joe Di wished. Of course, if Joe Di showed sense, he might not have to kill him.

With Joe Di's mastery of formations, he knew the moment he entered that Ruben Redlin was activating the trap and killing arrays. He acted as if he hadn't noticed, not even carving any formation patterns.

The cosmic laws in this universe were extremely complex. Even if he wanted to carve formation patterns, he could only do so in accordance with his own Dao principles. That would take time and effort, and if he started carving now, Ruben Redlin would notice immediately.

Even without carving formation patterns, Joe Di could sense Ruben Redlin's grand trap and killing array. The array was powerful, mainly because he hadn't yet adapted to the complex cosmic laws here. But if Ruben thought this array could trap him, he was sorely mistaken.
