Killing Without Taking Responsibility

1/18/2026

If they just retreat now, everyone will feel deeply unwilling, and they’ll become the laughingstock of others.

If they refuse to retreat and keep trying to kill that little thief, what if he still has strength left? There’ll be deaths—no, there’ll be a massacre!

Retreat? Or not retreat?

For a moment, all sixty gods were stuck in indecision.

"Hey, are you guys leaving or not? If you’re not, then we’re going!"

Suddenly, Song Yan—still pretending to meditate—spoke up again. His words hit the ears of the sixty gods, making more than a few faces turn dark with anger; they wanted to skin this little thief alive.

Some couldn’t hold back anymore and began cursing Song Yan outright.

Song Yan didn’t care at all. Instead, he laughed loudly: "Ha! And you call yourselves gods? Is running your mouths all you’ve got? If you’ve got the guts, stop whining and come kill me!"

The group of gods: "..."

"Since you’re not leaving, then we really are! Madam, Le’er, help me walk—ow, I really don’t have any strength left!" Song Yan spoke up again.

Pfft!

Hearing Ian's words, Princess Myra Vance finally couldn't hold back and burst out laughing.

The faces of the gods darkened even further.

Then, Ian and his group began to withdraw toward the Creation Sky Monolith, while the gods stood frozen, looking lost.

Supported by Lynne Ward and Lena Wei, Ian walked a short distance, then suddenly turned back and called out to the gods, "Hey, are you really not going to keep trying to kill me? If you wait until I recover, killing me will be much harder!"

"You little thief, you've gone too far!"

The gods gnashed their teeth in hatred.

Hahaha!

In response, Ian let out a wild laugh.

Not until Ian and his companions had completely disappeared from the gods' sight did they finally make no further move.

At that moment, Ian suddenly coughed up a mouthful of blood and shouted urgently: "Quick! Don’t head toward the Creation Sky Monolith—change direction!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Ian fainted again.

Everyone froze for a moment, but Prince Rowan Vance quickly shouted: "Quick, head northwest!"

This scene happened to be witnessed by a non-Human creature hiding in the nearby forest.

"No, that little thief is definitely bluffing! Let’s hurry and catch up to see!"

So the gods quickly arrived at the spot where Ian spat blood.

Seeing the blood on the ground, the god who’d guessed Ian was bluffing grew more confident and said angrily, "Damn it, we were all fooled by that damned little thief!"

"Who’s there? Get out here, now!"

Suddenly, someone shouted toward the forest nearby.

Immediately, a trembling non-Human creature stepped out of the forest, panicked: "Please, sirs, spare me! I was just resting here, I meant no harm!"

"Did you see a group of people pass by here just now?"

Xavin stared at him and asked—the same god who’d guessed Ian was bluffing.

Replying nervously, the non-Human said, "I saw them—they went that way!"

"Not toward the Creation Sky Monolith!"

A thoughtful look flashed across Xavin’s face; he asked again, "Who spat this blood?"

The non-Human replied, "It was a Human youth, supported by two women. He spat blood, then fainted!"

Just as I thought! Xavin’s face twisted in anger: "We were all tricked by that little thief!"

As for the other fifty-nine gods, their faces looked equally grim, and killing intent flickered in their eyes.

"What are we waiting for? Hurry and kill that little thief—don’t let him escape!"

At once, the gods flew after Ian and his group in the direction they disappeared.
