Beaten to Death
Quentin Lin spotted Bella approaching and knew she was here for him. He waved cheerfully, "Sister Bella, I'm just here having lunch with everyone!"
Seeing how happy Quentin was, Bella couldn't bear to drag him away. She said, "Alright, Quentin, be good and don't cause any trouble!"
"I'm always good!" Quentin Lin immediately put on his cutest face, his chubby cheeks puffed out.
The students nearby chimed in, "We'll vouch for him—Quentin is super well-behaved!"
Bella left Quentin there and returned to report to Lily Evans.
Lily Evans listened, surprised and amused, "I didn't expect Quentin would actually like it here."
Bella replied, "Young Master Quentin is always reading or making medicine at home. There's only one girl, Bai Ling'er, and they don't play together. Quentin must be lonely. But here at the academy, there are lots of kids and playmates, so he likes it."
Lily Evans nodded in agreement, "That's true. Quentin doesn't have playmates at home, so of course he'd be lonely."
Bella smiled and stared at Lily's belly, "Master, in the future, your baby won't have to worry about finding playmates! Bai Lu's child, Mudan's child—that's two already. Three kids growing up together, always having company."
Lily Evans poked Bella's forehead with a laugh, "You're a crafty little thing! You're barely grown and already thinking about babies. Guess you really are growing up and getting lovesick—no wonder girls can't be kept at home!"
Bella was so embarrassed by Lily Evans's teasing that her face turned bright red. She quickly gathered Lily's dishes and dashed out.
After a short lunch break, Lily Evans and the other teachers at the academy discussed the class schedule again. Lily would teach the children every other afternoon, focusing not on language, but on culture.
Many teachers here are from the Jin Dynasty. While they can speak foreign languages, they don't know much about foreign customs.
So Lily's language class turned into a humanities lesson taught in a foreign language, which the kids absolutely loved.
Whenever Lily taught, she would describe the vast world beyond the Jin Dynasty continent.
The children listened, completely captivated. Each one dreamed of seeing those wide and magical lands for themselves.
Their eager, inquisitive eyes deeply moved Lily Evans. She was determined to help these children see the world beyond for themselves, one by one.
Ever since Quentin Lin came to the academy, he attended class diligently every day. He was the last to arrive and could barely understand Lily, but he sat up straight, his dark eyes wide and attentive, absorbing every word.
Seeing Quentin so fascinated by foreign languages, Lily Evans allowed him to attend class every day.
Quentin Lin was only six years old—just the right age to pick up a new language. Lily believed that with his intelligence and perseverance, Quentin would excel at languages if he kept coming to class.
And so Quentin Lin kept running to the academy every day. After more than ten days, one evening, Lily Evans was having dinner with Alexander Hayes at the manor when Simon Yu rushed in, shouting, "Bad news, bad news! Miss Lily, you have to come to the Yu Residence—Master is going to beat Quentin within an inch of his life! Mistress is at Mr. Warren Sr.'s house and isn't home. Miss Lily, please come save Quentin before it's too late!"
