The Existence of Ethan Yin

1/4/2026

On the other side, Cherry Miller and Jay Kee finally finished their meal. Cherry secretly let out a sigh of relief.

Jay Kee was a type she’d never come across before. A guy this clingy and persistent was really hard to shake off.

"How about I take you somewhere fun later?" Jay Kee looked at Cherry with sparkling eyes, making it hard for her to refuse.

Cherry was racking her brains for a way to refuse when her phone rang.

She glanced at the number and paused for a moment, then answered, "Hello?"

On the other end, Ethan Yin's voice came through: "Where are you?"

"Uh, I'm eating," Cherry replied.

"Ah, I'm still hungry. You must be done, right?" Ethan Yin complained, "I don't care, you have to eat with me and make it up to me!"

"You’re back?" Cherry asked in surprise.

Didn’t he say this trip would take a long time?

"I came back for something urgent. I have to fly out again tomorrow morning," Ethan said, acting spoiled. "Considering how hard I've been working, isn't it fair for you to have dinner with me?"

"What’s so great about that?" Jay Kee muttered angrily to himself. "She’s probably off to see some pretty boy! Driving such a fancy car? Bet Miss Miller paid for it! Hmph! I’m not like those flashy floozies! I don’t want anything! Damn, this is driving me nuts!"

At least Ethan Yin was the man she loved.

Cherry immediately said, "Okay, where are you? I'll come find you."

"No need, I’ll have Quentin Sheng pick you up." Hearing Cherry accept his invitation, Ethan Yin’s voice was tinged with joy.

After hanging up, Cherry turned to Jay Kee and said, "Sorry, I have something else tonight. Why don’t you head back first?"

"Oh, seriously...?" Jay Kee’s face fell in disappointment.

He’d already planned to take Cherry skating at his favorite spot.

He’d even told his friends about it, planning to give Cherry a romantic confession later.

But now...

Cherry wasn’t about to give Jay Kee another chance to pester her. While he was distracted, she quickly paid the bill.

"Hey, hey, hey! I said I’d pay!" Jay Kee got flustered.

He might be a bit of a jerk, but he still knew the rule: if you invite someone out, you pay.

"It’s fine. Consider it my apology for not being able to hang out with you later," Cherry said. She didn’t care about a little money like this.

"How could I let you do that?" Jay Kee muttered.

Everything he’d prepared was ruined.

"I’ve got things to do. I’m heading out," Cherry said quickly, making her way toward the roadside.

Jay Kee froze for a second. By the time he snapped out of it and ran after her, he saw Cherry getting into a luxury car.

That car was something he could never afford in his lifetime.

When Cherry got in, she was smiling—so happy she didn’t even realize it herself.

Jay Kee saw it all, and his heart felt like it was soaking in vinegar.

"What’s so great about that?" Jay Kee muttered angrily to himself. "She’s probably off to see some pretty boy! Driving such a fancy car? Bet Miss Miller paid for it! Hmph! I’m not like those flashy types! I don’t want anything! Ugh, this is so frustrating!"

Jay Kee watched the car speed away and angrily kicked a tree by the roadside.

The tree didn’t even budge, and he yelped in pain, squatting down on the ground.

The more Jay Kee thought about it, the angrier he got.

It must be that pretty boy Miss Miller was video chatting with! It had to be him!

How could such an annoying guy even exist?

It was because of him that Miss Miller couldn’t see how great Jay Kee was!

That guy had such a devilishly handsome face—who could compete with that?

Jay Kee sat on the curb, feeling so wronged he almost cried.
