Longing for Each Other

Chloe Zhu smiled and asked again, "Did he give you any trouble?"

"Don't worry. Your big brother isn't someone who can be easily messed with." He said this with confidence and calm, looking dazzling.

Jason Zhuo is actually a very charming man.

"Big Brother, yesterday at the Shen residence, I accidentally overheard Aunt Wan and Willow talking," Chloe Zhu said.

"What did they say?"

"From what I heard, Jason Zhuo seems to be up to something fishy and wants to get you kicked out of your official position."

Jason Zhuo frowned. "Really?"

Chloe Zhu nodded. "I don't have any proof, so I can't tell Dad or Grandma. Just keep an eye out and be careful!"

"Alright. I'll be careful."

"So, Big Brother, why did you come looking for me?" Chloe Zhu asked.

Jason Zhuo hesitated for a moment, then pulled a handkerchief from his chest and handed it to her.

Chloe Zhu took it, opened it up, and saw delicate calligraphy written with a fine brush.

There were two lines of poetry: 'September's western wind rises, the cold moon gathers dew.'

Chloe Zhu glanced at the verses, then at Jason, and teased, "Could it be that some young lady wrote you a love letter?"

Those two lines were quoted from 'Longing for Each Other.'

The next two lines are: 'Missing you, autumn nights are long; my soul rises nine times in one night.'

Jason Zhuo replied, "Today, Princess Xinyao gave me a piece of ink as a thank-you gift. When I got home and opened it... this was inside."

Chloe Zhu gasped and widened her eyes. "You mean... Princess Xinyao wrote this for you?"

Jason Zhuo nodded.

"Haha! Big Brother, your charm knows no bounds!" Chloe Zhu giggled. "You actually got that super noble princess to write you something like this?"

Jason's face turned red. "Stop teasing me! You have to go tell her—it's impossible! Please ask her to give up on this!"

"Huh? Why would you say that? Why is it impossible?"

"Just look at my status and hers."

"You're the legitimate eldest son of our Prime Minister's residence! What do you mean, status?"

"Chloe Zhu, I'm just Dad's adopted son."

"You're the only one who thinks of yourself as adopted. Dad, Mom, and I have never seen you that way."

"Anyway, please find a chance to return the handkerchief to her!" Jason turned to leave. "I'm going now."

...

Back in her room, Chloe Zhu kept turning the handkerchief over and over, and the more she thought about it, the more she felt Jason and Princess Xinyao would be a perfect match.

It would be such a pity if they missed their chance.

After thinking it over for a long time, Chloe Zhu folded the handkerchief neatly and put it away.

The next day, she submitted her token and entered the palace.

She first went to pay her respects to Wendy Zhu.

Wendy Zhu saw her, but her smile wasn't as natural and easygoing as before.

There was a hint of awkwardness mixed with wariness.

She kept pressing Chloe Zhu, asking how she suddenly developed a spiritual root.

Chloe Zhu gave her the same answer as before, saying her spiritual root had just formed.

Wendy Zhu clearly didn't believe her, but she didn't ask any further.

Then Chloe Zhu went to pay her respects to Princess Xinyao.

She invited the princess to visit the Zhuo residence in half a month.

Princess Xinyao asked curiously, "Why half a month from now? Is that day special for some reason?"

Chloe Zhu leaned in and whispered in her ear, "It's my big brother's birthday."

Princess Olivia Gu's face flushed red, and she stayed silent.

Seeing her so innocent and bashful, Chloe Zhu felt a little guilty.

"Was it his idea?" Princess Xinyao asked, blushing.

"If it was, would you come?"

Princess Olivia Gu nodded.
