"Hey, can I sit here?" Eric Yu flashed a bright, movie-star smile as he spoke up.
Lynn Chen, who was reading her book, looked up in surprise. "That seat's already taken," she replied, her tone polite but firm.
Eric just grinned. "No worries," he said, ignoring her and plopping down in the empty seat anyway.
The girls nearby immediately shot Lynn looks of pure envy, while the guys glared daggers at Eric Yu, clearly jealous.
"He actually sat next to Lynn Chen—ugh, why couldn’t it be me?" a girl in the back row mumbled, looking crushed.
"Isn’t Lynn Chen pretty close with Evan Lin from Class 12? If he finds out Eric Yu sat next to her, you think they’ll throw down?" someone whispered.
"If they actually fought, who do you think would win?" another kid piped up, eyes lighting up at the drama.
A bunch of girls started debating, totally hooked on the idea.
Some students snickered, "Come on, Evan Lin’s just a transfer from Brightsea City. No way he’d dare mess with a movie star like Eric Yu—school would totally take the celebrity’s side."
Others chimed in, "I bet Evan doesn’t even know who Eric Yu is. He probably hasn’t even seen 'Mysterious Detective.'"
