Pig Teammate Kicks Him When He's Down

12/2/2025

"Your Highness, the number of people selling those books outside is growing by the minute! What are we going to do?" Charles Chu’s subordinates were completely flustered.

Charles Chu had thought he could simply buy up all the books and put an end to the matter, but he had seriously underestimated the business savvy of the common folk.

As soon as people realized there was money to be made, more and more joined the book-copying craze. Instead of solving the problem, Charles Chu’s actions only fanned the flames—talk about pouring oil on the fire!

If this were the Kingdom of Chu, the authorities would’ve swooped in and arrested everyone selling banned books. No one would dare defy the law then.

But this is the Kingdom of Jin—Crown Prince Charles Chu doesn’t have the power to order the local constables around, and even the city police wouldn’t give him the time of day.

Princess Mira also caught wind of the commotion outside. After asking around, she discovered her own brother had been thoroughly outsmarted by Lily Evans and her husband!

Princess Mira immediately burst out laughing and gleefully rushed into Charles Chu’s room. "Big brother, you’re blaming me? Just look at yourself—completely played for a fool! Tsk, I heard you hired eighteen rabbit boys. You really know how to have fun! If Father and Mother find out, you’re doomed!"

Princess Mira still held a grudge against Charles Chu for his harsh scolding and grounding her earlier. Now, she couldn’t wait to kick him while he was down.

Charles Chu glared at his foolish little sister, so angry he could burst. Honestly, what a useless teammate!

Princess Mira circled Charles Chu’s bed and teased, "Oh my, brother, why are you lying face down? Why aren’t you getting up? Oh right, I heard those eighteen strong men roughed you up pretty badly. Brother, you really are…hahaha!"

Princess Mira laughed uproariously as she dashed out of the room, leaving Charles Chu looking as red-faced as a boiled lobster.

Meanwhile, outside, the crowd kept swelling—everyone wanted a piece of the palace book-selling action, and the Kingdom of Chu’s guards were completely overwhelmed.

Charles Chu knew this couldn’t go on. If he didn’t get a handle on things soon, Lily Evans would stir up another scandal—something like 'Ten thousand citizens swarm the Chu envoy’s compound to sell racy novels.'

Gritting his teeth, Charles Chu made up his mind. Since his reputation was already in tatters, he might as well use this mess to take a bite out of Alexander Hayes.

"Someone, prepare the horses—no, a carriage!" Charles Chu was fuming. "And use the back door. Don’t let those commoners see me."

His men quickly whisked Charles Chu out the back door, just as he’d instructed, heading straight for the local authorities.

The official on duty took one look at Crown Prince Charles Chu—hobbling in like a wounded quail—and nearly burst out laughing. They hurried to hide the racy novels they’d secretly bought. "Oh my, what brings the Crown Prince of Chu to our humble office today?"

The official’s grin was downright suggestive, and Charles Chu, ever sharp-eyed, had spotted the man reading a racy novel about himself the moment he walked in.

At that moment, Charles Chu was dying of embarrassment. He muttered, "I—uh—I need to file a report!"

The official’s mouth formed a perfect O. He lowered his voice to match, "And what, pray tell, does the Crown Prince of Chu wish to report today?"

Charles Chu, both humiliated and furious, gritted his teeth. "My compound is surrounded by a mob of unruly commoners! Send your men to drive them away—at once! And those illegal books they’re selling, confiscate and destroy them all. Do you hear me?"

The official nearly choked on his own spit but nodded frantically. "Yes, yes! I’ll send someone right away! Please, Your Highness, why don’t you sit—oh, I mean, lie down and rest for a moment?"

At the word 'lie down,' Charles Chu shot the official a murderous glare.

The official yelped, clapped a hand over his mouth, and wondered why he’d blurted that out. He quickly ushered Charles Chu to the backyard to rest, hid his own racy novel, and finally sent his men to handle the situation.
