Snow Grace replied dryly, “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
Max Mo gave Snow Grace a meaningful look, then lowered his head and kept eating, saying nothing more.
Snow Grace couldn’t sit still anymore. She stood up abruptly. “I’m full. I’ll go check on the others.”
Max Mo watched her leave, cold and silent.
Outside the tent, Julia Yu was eating with a few assistants.
“Julia, you’re basically the boss’s personal assistant now,” one of the assistants joked. “You still have the title of lawyer, but you’re doing all the assistant work.”
“I’m like a brick—wherever you need me, I’ll go,” Julia Yu laughed. “Just being a lawyer wouldn’t get me this kind of salary.”
“Exactly,” another chimed in. “Julia’s getting double pay right now! Lawyer team salary and assistant salary. She’s got the skills, so she deserves it.”
“Hey, Julia, do you think our boss actually knows what kind of person Snow Grace is?” the first assistant couldn’t help asking. “Feels like the boss is playing a really big game.”
“You never stop talking, do you?” Julia Yu shot him a look, then glanced back at Max Mo’s tent. “The boss knows what he’s doing.”
Max Mo’s chief aide happened to walk by and overheard their conversation.
He raised his eyebrows at Julia Yu, eyes full of amusement.
No wonder the boss values her so much. With that kind of insight, anyone would want her close.
