Mrs. Kerr and Molly Mao immediately turned their attention to Cecilia Gu.
Cecilia rested her chin on her hand and replied, "Yeah, lately I've been in charge of all the company matters that need someone to step up."
Cecilia paused and glanced at Mrs. Kerr and Molly Mao.
For some reason, she suddenly felt a wave of satisfaction.
Back then, Cecilia knew better than anyone how Mrs. Kerr had treated Rona Muir.
Now, seeing Mrs. Kerr being pushed to this point by her own son, she couldn't help but feel vindicated for Rona Muir.
Molly Mao stammered, "Mrs. Yin, did you see Sean Kerr? I... I need to go to the hospital for a prenatal checkup, and the doctor said it's best if both parents come for the exam."
Cecilia nodded and said, "Yeah, I saw him!"
Molly Mao's eyes lit up.
Cecilia continued, "We met at the company managers' meeting. There were a lot of people there. Sean Kerr and I just nodded and greeted each other, then went our separate ways. You know, I represent Danni Cosmetics, and he represents Jolene Cosmetics. If the heads of our two companies chat together, it just looks off. Privately, we're friends, but in business, we're rivals. Unless this competition ends perfectly, whenever we meet, we're enemies—so there's no way to have a casual conversation. Why are you asking me all this? By the way, isn't Sean Kerr already back?"
Cecilia said that last sentence on purpose.
She was deliberately stabbing at Mrs. Kerr's sore spot.
Serves her right!
Where was that attitude when you humiliated Rona Muir back then?
Why so deflated now?
Rona Muir's lips curled into a faint smile.
Of course, she could tell Cecilia was standing up for her.
That's what best friends do.
Sure enough, Mrs. Kerr's face flushed hotly.
But if she wanted to know about her son's situation, she'd have to rely on Cecilia.
Even if Cecilia was being rude, Mrs. Kerr had no choice but to endure it.
"Did Sean Kerr say when he'll be done and come home?" Mrs. Kerr asked anxiously. "The wedding is just around the corner, and the groom isn't even here to help prepare. That's just unacceptable."
Cecilia put on a show and answered, "Alright, next time I see him, I'll be sure to ask. He shouldn't be causing trouble for Rona Muir all the time! Rona's been keeping such a low profile lately, skipping events whenever she can. The ones where the CEO should've attended, I, as the general manager, had to step in. Luckily no one questioned my position, or it would've been embarrassing."
Today, Cecilia's words were truly blunt.
No other reason.
Cecilia looked down on forcing a marriage with such underhanded tricks.
If Sean Kerr and Molly Mao decided to get married, whether there's love or not, it's their own business.
But now, look at this mess.
First they schemed against Sean Kerr, then a second time, and after that they're already planning the next scheme.
Who could put up with this?
Mrs. Kerr got her answer and, sure enough, quickly left with Molly Mao.
Rona Muir looked at Cecilia and said softly, "Cecilia, you don't have to offend people for my sake."
Cecilia snorted, "I wouldn't call it offending anyone—I'm just telling the truth. Anyway, let's not stress about this. Let's keep shopping! First, let's get you to Japan."
Rona Muir smiled, got up with Cecilia, and the two continued shopping.
In the blink of an eye, a few days passed. Rona Muir, Jiro Hirayama, and Michelle Hirayama boarded a plane to Japan together.
When they landed, a crowd was waiting to greet them in Japan.
Michelle Hirayama couldn't help but say, "Wow, Auntie, you must be really important—so many people came to welcome you!"
Rona Muir gave her a look. "Now that we're back, you need to tone down your dramatic side. Otherwise, you can forget about coming with me to China next time."
Michelle Hirayama pouted, "Auntie, you're so fierce! You're nothing like Japanese women at all."
"Well, your uncle likes it this way," Rona Muir replied proudly with a smile.
