Evan Chu's eyes alone could kill—his gaze made everyone present jump in fright. This was unheard of; each person stared at him in terror.
An elder of the Hidden Clan barked, "Kid, don’t get cocky—this isn’t a place for you to run wild. If you’ve got skills, show them! I’ll take whatever you throw at me."
Evan didn’t want to destroy Serene Nether City, so he kept holding back. He glanced at the elder and said, “If you’re so sure of yourself, then just follow me. I’ll be waiting up ahead.”
With a flicker, Evan’s figure vanished from the main hall, and everyone else quickly followed. Princess Serene and Chase Chu were left standing in place, wanting to go too, but Princess Ivy stopped them.
“You two stay here. If you go, you’ll just be burdens. Trust your father’s strength—he’s the real powerhouse. We’ll wait here for him to come back,” Princess Ivy said.
Just as the two were about to protest, King Victor Zhao spoke up: “You’ll stay here. Miss Jade will guard your safety. If the Hidden Clan dares to cause trouble in my city, I’ll make sure they regret it. Otherwise, they’ll think Serene Nether City is defenseless.”
Jade said, “King Victor, you and the Beast King should go help. With me here, Serene Nether City will be fine. The Young Master is strong, but even he can run out of energy if he fights alone. With your support, he’ll be safe.”
The Beast King and King Victor nodded and left the hall too, along with several elders from the City Lord’s Mansion. This was shaping up to be the Netherworld’s greatest battle yet. If Evan could end this war, the Netherworld would finally be unified—and that was exactly what he wanted.
Only with the Netherworld truly unified could Evan leave with peace of mind. Right now, he wasn’t flying very fast—he didn’t want to lose his pursuers. After a while, he arrived once again at that stretch of desert.
He steadied himself and waited for the Hidden Clan, along with King Warren Lin and King Grant Gu’s followers, to arrive. By now, he’d already placed two Jadeheart Lotus seeds in his mouth.
