Go Talk About Studying in Front of Real Good Students
"No, because last time Evan Lin didn't take the monthly exam, so his total score was zero. This time he scored 425, ranking 33rd in the class, which means he moved up seventeen places—the biggest improvement of all."
Byron Yang shook his head.
With fifty students in a standard class, jumping from dead last to thirty-third is a seventeen-place leap—the biggest progress.
Hearing this, Director Ben Lu and Henry Wang both looked a bit awkward.
Everyone's attention once again focused on Evan Lin.
"Alright then, Evan, you should go with Director Lu and the others now." Byron Yang coughed, feeling that this whole situation was getting a little strange.
But according to the rules, Evan Lin attending the Teacher–Student Assembly again this time actually seems pretty well deserved.
Evan Lin stood up, hands in his pockets, and walked out of the classroom.
"You only got 425 points and you still have the nerve to walk out of the classroom?" Eric Yu muttered to himself, voice low, not daring to say it to Evan's face—he was afraid Evan might just hit him if he got annoyed.
Henry Wang's expression shifted several times. He glanced at Wendy Wen, a flash of inspiration crossing his mind, then looked at Director Ben Lu and said with a smile, "Director Lu, since we're preparing for the Teacher–Student Assembly, why not set aside a meeting room and let these most improved students and the top three from the Experimental Classes have an exchange?"
"They can share how they managed to improve, and what study tips or experiences they have to offer. This way, everyone can learn from each other, which will help all students develop better overall."
As soon as Henry Wang finished speaking, Director Ben Lu, who had looked a bit sour, immediately brightened, nodding. "That's a good suggestion, Mr. Wang. Let's use the meeting room on the third floor. You and I will go to the other classes and find each class's most improved student. Wendy Wen, you take the others to the meeting room and wait there."
Director Ben Lu made the decision on the spot.
Byron Yang glanced worriedly at Evan Lin.
It was obvious that Director Ben Lu and Henry Wang were planning to use grades as a weapon to give Evan Lin a 'soft-knife' blow.
When they tried to use force, Evan Lin had the principal's protection and they couldn't touch him. Now they're using grades as ammo—even with the principal present, no one can object.
"Director Lu, we've got papers to go over today. Won't this delay the students' learning?" Byron Yang couldn't help but try to intervene.
Before Director Lu could reply, Henry Wang cut in, "No need to worry about that, Mr. Yang. Most of the students going are top performers. Peer exchange is always beneficial—definitely more useful than just going over test questions with you."
After saying this, Henry Wang didn't bother with Byron Yang anymore. He gave Evan Lin a long look, then left with Director Ben Lu to go to the next class.
As soon as the two teachers left—
Byron Yang could only sigh, feeling helpless. He wanted to remind Evan Lin to endure when he could and avoid causing trouble, but the words stuck in his throat and he couldn't say them.
Evan Lin left the classroom, casually closing the door behind him, leaving Class 12 with a slightly arrogant silhouette.
"Let's go."
Evan Lin looked at Wendy Wen and spoke.
Wendy Wen snapped back to attention, huffed at Evan Lin, then linked arms with Lynn Chen, pulling her along toward the stairs at the other end of the hallway.
"You really dare to come, huh? Aren't you afraid of embarrassing yourself? I scored 550 this time." Eric Yu walked on Lynn Chen's other side, turning his head to look at Evan Lin in the back, raising his eyebrows smugly.
But even as he spoke, his face was full of caution—if Evan Lin showed any sign of attacking, Eric was ready to hide behind the two girls in an instant.
That way, he could avoid getting hit.
"You're really proud of that 550? Your standards are way too low." Evan Lin glanced at him, his tone calm and steady.
The breeze in the hallway brushed their faces. Eric Yu wasn't angry at Evan Lin's words at all—instead, he just grinned, "You sure are. I can't compare to you. You're the genius who scored 425, right?"
"You've got vision, that's why you scored 425. Four hundred twenty-five should be enough for the undergraduate cutoff—it's not bad."
Eric Yu nodded, looking quite pleased with himself.
He can't beat Evan Lin, his family background doesn't impress him, and his celebrity status is basically useless here.
At this point, the only place Eric Yu can find a little balance is in academics.
"By the way, Lynn, there are a few problems I still can't solve. I didn't really figure out where I went wrong either. After school today, let me treat you to Starbucks—coffee and you can explain the questions to me while we chat."
Eric Yu looked at Lynn Chen, smiling all the while.
Lynn Chen kept her eyes forward, feeling a bit nervous inside—worried that saying the wrong thing might upset Evan Lin behind her. "We can go over the questions in class. I have to go home after school."
Hearing Lynn's refusal, Eric Yu didn't get angry. He just nodded quickly and, not forgetting to shoot a provocative look at Evan Lin.
Wendy Wen saw all this and sneaked a glance at Evan Lin, noticing he looked completely unfazed. She couldn't help but ask, "Aren't you afraid?"
"Afraid of what?" Evan Lin asked, a little curious.
"In a bit, you'll be the only one with a score like that. Doesn't it feel embarrassing?" Wendy Wen rolled her eyes, honestly impressed by Evan Lin's mental toughness.
If it were any other student, they'd probably do everything they could to avoid showing up after Director Ben Lu and Henry Wang made that suggestion.
A guy with 425 points, standing in front of a bunch of the most improved students—who all have at least 500, some even over 600—and talking about how to study and improve grades? No matter how you look at it, it's pretty humiliating.
"I earned my score fair and square. Nothing to be ashamed of." Evan Lin shook his head.
Wendy Wen couldn't help but look at Evan Lin with newfound respect, while Lynn Chen beside her frowned, clearly unhappy with what she'd just heard.
She just felt that Evan Lin was really giving up on himself lately—not going to class, skipping exams, and not caring about his grades at all.
With that kind of attitude, how could he ever get into a good university?
Lynn Chen was just frustrated that iron couldn't become steel.
Eric Yu was practically gloating, buzzing with excitement—he was already picturing Evan Lin's upcoming embarrassment.
By now, they'd reached the meeting room on the third floor.
