Disgusting Them Back

Yuanbao was as strong as an ox, and Hunter Zhang Mu was tall and muscular, his body packed with sinewy muscle. The two stood side by side, and the men of the Evans family gulped nervously. After a quick calculation of their fighting power, they realized that if a conflict broke out, they would definitely lose.

"Mother, maybe... maybe we should just let it go..." Helen Parker, frightened, shrank back and tugged at Grandma Evans's clothes, trying to persuade her.

Grandma Evans was scared too; if that fool threw a punch, she, an old woman, would probably be done for.

The two families stood face to face, and the Village Chief, troubled by the scene, stepped forward to mediate.

"Grandma Evans, the house belongs to them. You can’t just barge in and take over, kicking out the owners. That’s not how things work." The Village Chief was clearly exasperated with the shrew.

The villagers, unable to stomach it, started cursing the Evans family for being shameless.

Cynthia Wu sneered, "Oh, so this is the family tradition of a scholarly household? Invading someone else’s home like a cuckoo in a magpie’s nest. Aren’t you afraid word will get out and your whole family won’t be able to hold their heads up?"

Helen Parker’s face turned ashen. It was one thing to be scolded by the villagers, but if her son Samuel Evans’s reputation was ruined, she’d never raise her head again.

Grandma Evans glared, "What scholarly family? You’re all just a bunch of ingrates!"

Mrs. Barker couldn’t help but snort, "If you’re so scholarly, why don’t you go study instead of stirring up trouble?"

Cynthia Wu burst out laughing, "Mrs. Barker, you’re absolutely right! If they spent half as much time reading as they do plotting, Samuel Evans would be a top scholar by now!"

The villagers roared with laughter, and Samuel Evans’s face turned red as a beet.

Helen Parker, seeing her son’s humiliation, nearly fainted from anger.

Grandma Evans, refusing to admit defeat, snapped, "You think you’re clever, but you’re just a pack of wild dogs!"

The Village Chief finally lost patience. "Enough! If you keep making trouble, I’ll report you to the magistrate. Let’s see who dares to make a scene then!"

Grandma Evans shrank back, muttering curses under her breath.

Lily Evans watched the farce unfold. She knew that the Evans family wouldn’t give up so easily, but for now, she’d won this round.

Lucky stood protectively by her side, his eyes full of adoration and loyalty.

Cynthia Wu winked at Lily Evans, "If they try anything else, we’ll just chase them out again!"

Mrs. Barker cackled, "That’s right! If you ask me, Lily Evans is the only one in this family with any backbone!"

The villagers nodded in agreement, their respect for Lily Evans growing.

Grandma Evans, defeated, could only glare at Lily Evans, her schemes foiled for now.
