Grace felt her heart skip a beat and asked about the compass, "...And what about this compass? What does it do?"
"It's a locator compass!" Mr. Wang explained. "It's a treasure from the Sigil Sect. Don't be fooled by its size—inside is a grand array aligned with the sun, moon, and stars! Anywhere in the Ten Wilds Continent, you can pinpoint your exact location with it!"
This compass looked a lot like Fan'er's.
But it seemed even more complicated, with extra markings and more pointers.
If she had one of these, she wouldn't have to keep bothering Fan'er...
"Mr. Wang, give me a price for all three items!"
She wanted to buy every single one of them.
"Honestly, each of these treasures is priceless! If I wasn't strapped for cash right now, I wouldn't even consider selling them!"
"So, Mr. Wang, what price are you thinking?"
"They're all the same price—ten catties of Celestial Spirit Jade! If you have ten catties, you can pick any one of them to take home."
Grace pulled out thirty catties of Celestial Spirit Jade from her sanctum and slapped them right onto the table. "I'll take them all!"
Last time, Henry Tuoba had brought her forty or fifty catties of Celestial Spirit Jade. Ray had eaten some, so she had about thirty left.
Mr. Wang stared at the sudden pile of Celestial Spirit Jade, eyes glazed over, speechless.
"Mr. Wang?"
"Heh heh! Well... forgive my lack of vision, Miss, but you really are loaded!" Mr. Wang chuckled awkwardly.
"Can I buy all of them?" Grace asked.
"Well... alright!" He carefully put away the thirty catties of Celestial Spirit Jade, and just like that, all three treasures belonged to Grace.
Mr. Wang went to the back room to store the Spirit Jade, and when he returned, he handed her a business card.
The card looked just like the previous one, with only two lines of text.
It read: Phantom Bureau.
Underneath, it said: Wang Ba.
All the characters were embossed in gold, with golden trim along the edges. It looked dazzling and expensive.
"Congratulations! You've become our Gold VIP. This is your Gold VIP card—keep it safe!" Mr. Wang said.
"You mentioned that as a Gold VIP, you'd be my guide and help me find the Kunlun Divine Wood?"
"Not just a guide," Mr. Wang smiled. "Gold VIPs get all kinds of services: dining companion, travel buddy, overnight stays, door-to-door service, out-of-town trips—you name it, we do it!"
Dining companion, travel buddy, overnight stays—what the heck?
"No need for all that. Just be my guide and help me find the Kunlun Divine Wood," Grace said.
"Sure, no problem! But that's a separate fee," Wang Ba replied. "As a Gold VIP, you get a twenty percent discount. Regular price is fifty taels of silver per day, now just forty."
Grace: "Then I'll trouble you, Mr. Wang! Can we leave tomorrow?"
"Of course," Wang Ba replied cheerfully.
"By the way, you'll have to teach me how to use this compass."
"Alright, let's start with these three rings. The innermost is for time, and the outer two are for direction..."
...
So, Grace paid forty taels of silver per day to hire Mr. Wang as her guide, and together they set off for Moonshade Kingdom.
Of course, before leaving, Grace stocked up on plenty of grave-digging tools—all bought from the black market.
Turns out, Mr. Wang really did know the way.
