Cultivating Windshift and Thundershift

Seeing snowflakes and shards of ice appear in midair, Evan Chu was thrilled. Even Jade Chu and Tom Chu, who were quietly absorbing Nether Qi nearby, stopped what they were doing, staring in shock at Evan. They couldn’t understand how such phenomena could manifest in a sealed chamber like this.

But the snowflakes and ice quickly faded away. Evan wasn’t surprised—this chamber’s space was limited, and the elemental particles inside were scarce. Just being able to trigger such a scene was already more than he’d expected.

“Big Brother, how did you do that? That’s amazing!” Jade Chu couldn’t help asking, while Tom Chu looked at Evan with just as much curiosity.

“I couldn’t explain it even if I tried. Aren’t you supposed to be absorbing Nether Qi? Don’t slack off—get back to work!” Evan snapped.

The two shot Evan a glare and said in unison, “Stingy! Fine, if you won’t tell us, we won’t ask!” Then they went back to absorbing the Nether Qi in the chamber.

Evan, meanwhile, moved on to attuning to the next element. With the insights he’d gained from comprehending water and fire, he found that resonating with the other three elements took much less time.

Only wood took noticeably longer to resonate with, since wood-element particles were so sparse in the chamber. It was much more trouble than gold or earth, costing him twice as much time to attune.

Once Evan had achieved full resonance with all Five Elements, he felt a sense of accomplishment unlike anything before. He didn’t stop there, though—instead, he tried to sense the thunder element in the chamber’s space. He’d already mastered Thunder Element internally, and while he hadn’t practiced Thundershift yet, his grasp was just as strong as with the Five Elements.

Thunder Element was the wildest of all elements, and connecting with it was extremely difficult. Evan tried countless times, but always came up empty-handed. Each time his divine sense touched a thunder particle, it either bounced away or vanished instantly, leaving him a bit disappointed.

Eventually, he had no choice but to give up. By now, most of the Nether Qi in the chamber had been consumed—those two little troublemakers had absorbed quite a lot. Now, both Jade and Tom had stopped and were quietly watching Evan.

"Are you two getting bored yet? If you want, you can head back into the storage ring. I still need to master two martial skills before I can leave, and it’s going to take a long time," Evan Chu said to Jade Chu and Tom Chu.

"We’ll just wait here for you. What’s a little time to us? Sometimes we can stare at a single thing for hundreds of years. Big Brother, don’t worry about us—just focus on your cultivation. When you’re done, take us out to see the world outside," Jade Chu replied.

"Alright, then take your time and wait!" Evan laughed, trusting Jade Chu completely. After all, how else could they have survived millions of years?

"Luna, how long have I been cultivating? I want to train Windshift and Thundershift now," Evan asked the sword spirit.

"You’ve been at it for nearly two months. With your current foundation, you’re absolutely ready for both skills. Go for it, Evan—I’m waiting for you!" Luna encouraged.

Soon, a surge of powerful information flooded Evan’s mind—the full method for Windshift. Back when he trained the Windchaser Sword Art, he’d already gained some insight into Wind Element, so mastering Windshift now wasn’t difficult at all.

He took out the Wind Spirit Pearl—the prize he’d risked death for—and began to absorb it. The wind-element energy poured into his body, and with his defenses now so strong, the crippling backlash from earlier Spirit Pearl absorptions never appeared.

It took him just a single day to fully absorb the Wind Spirit Pearl. Next came Windshift itself. Wind is formless yet always in motion, speed its essence and attack its edge. But Windshift’s offensive power was no weaker than any of the Five Elements.

Evan remembered well the terror of Glasswind’s blades. Drawing on his experience with the other Five Element shifts, he grasped Windshift in only three days.

With a thought, wind-element particles instantly gathered around him. He focused, condensed them, and swung his palm forward—a cyan wind blade shot out, slamming into the chamber wall and making the entire room shake violently.
