It was a special spirit tool that could detect the nodes of a formation. However, Ian Song only glanced at it before relaxing—this illusion array was a simplified version of an Immortal formation, and even in its stripped-down form, it barely qualified as Immortal-grade.
That compass-like spirit tool could only detect about one-tenth of the formation's nodes.
"Miss Gongsun, how is it? Can you break the array?" the Jin Ancestor stepped forward to ask.
Rain Gongsun didn’t reply at first. She focused intently on the glowing points inside the black-and-white grid, her delicate brows furrowing. After a long pause, she finally said, "This illusion array is much tougher than I expected. I’m really not very confident."
"Alright then, keep working on the array. This old lady won’t disturb you anymore!"
The Jin Ancestor withdrew. Not very confident still meant some hope, which was far better than the previous two batches of array masters who couldn’t even find the door.
After that, Rain Gongsun alternated between manipulating the compass spirit tool and casting probing array seals into the valley.
Finally, two hours later, after Rain Gongsun cast another array seal, the entire valley’s space rippled like water.
In that moment, everyone’s eyes widened.
The ripples grew stronger and stronger, until at last a vibrant, living valley appeared before everyone—at least ten times larger than the barren valley they’d seen before.
The entire valley could be roughly divided into three regions.
On the outer edge were fields of Spirit Medicines, packed with long-aged, high-quality herbs—at least ten thousand plants in total.
Even the Fusion-stage experts couldn’t help getting excited, while the Soul-Split experts just stared in awe.
Because the value of these Spirit Medicines rivaled, or even surpassed, the wealth of a top-tier family or sect—at least tens of thousands of top-grade spirit crystals.
Moving further in, there was a mountain forest, teeming with packs of Spirit Beasts running and flying about—some were even Nascent Soul and Out-of-Body level.
Past the forest stood a wooden hut.
Formations protected the hut on all sides, but these arrays didn’t block anyone’s view—everyone could clearly see inside.
The furnishings inside were extremely simple: one table and one bed.
On the bed was a jade meditation cushion and nothing else. On the table sat four ancient books.
Suddenly—
Whoosh!
One of the ancient books on the wooden table shot into the air, joyfully flying around the hut.
"Heavens! Did that book just turn into a spirit?"
The Soul-Split experts stared in shock at the scene, some unable to hold back their cries of surprise.
Even Terry Xie and the other Fusion-stage experts started breathing heavily, their eyes glowing green with greed.
"It’s an Immortal Tome! Definitely an Immortal Tome!"
Only Immortal Tomes soaked in Immortal aura can become sentient.
Just then—
The flying Immortal Tome seemed to get bored after a while, so it swooped back into the hut—but instead of landing on the table, it rammed into another ancient book.
Bang!
The ancient book burst out in a blaze of silver light, but was still knocked away.
The mischievous Immortal Tome darted out of the hut, while the book it struck shot up as well—apparently furious—and chased after it at top speed.
"Oh my god, there’s another Immortal Tome!"
The Soul-Split experts were at a loss for words, while the eight Fusion ancestors present all had a strange gleam in their eyes.
The two Immortal Tomes chased each other around the valley, then flew back into the hut and together rammed into the remaining two ancient books.
Under everyone’s astonished gaze, those two books also glowed and shot into the air.
"Four Immortal Tomes!"
Everyone was stunned—even the Fusion-stage experts were no exception.
What are Immortal Tomes, exactly?
They’re the foundation for founding a sect. The ancestor who created the Prime One Church started with a single Immortal Tome, and then spent ten thousand years building the Church into today’s colossal power.
