"Law Seed? What the heck is that supposed to mean? Sounds kind of weird."
Stella Huang was also taken aback by Irene Xu’s words. She frowned and said, "Are you sure this Wade Wei guy isn’t just a complete idiot?"
"I’m not sure either. When I went out to eat with him today, he started bragging about it—looked all smug, saying that so-called Law Seeds can be made into magic artifacts. Honestly, he made it sound super mystical. I kind of think he’s nuts, but when it comes to other stuff, he doesn’t seem stupid at all." Irene Xu frowned, "It took me ages to hook a halfway decent rich guy, and now I’m actually getting a little nervous about it."
"And get this—he said some ‘real person’ would show up too, and that this guy could exorcise demons and had mysterious powers. The more he talked, the crazier it sounded. If he didn’t drive a Porsche and come from a loaded family, I’d have kicked him to the curb ages ago."
Irene Xu looked troubled. "Do you think all rich people are into these mystical things? Like, hoping they’ll live a few years longer just by messing with weird stuff?"
Irene was still frowning, and Stella Huang honestly didn’t know how to comfort her.
Evan Lin thought for a moment, then said, "I can go with you."
"Really? You mean it?" As soon as Evan Lin spoke, Irene Xu perked up, grabbed his sleeve, and looked thrilled. "Thank you so much, Evan! When we get back, I’ll treat you to a big fancy meal!"
Once Evan Lin headed back to his room, it was Stella Huang’s turn to look a little worried.
"If he’s going with you, you’d better make sure he stays safe," Stella reminded her. Even though Evan was pretty tough, she still saw him as a bit immature—she worried that if something really happened, Evan might hurt someone and get into trouble again.
She'd been so hyped up last night that she barely slept a wink.
"Once I finish brushing my teeth and washing up, I have to fix my makeup. Today's the day! If I can hook Wade Wei, I'll never have to worry about money again. I could marry into the Wei family and become a rich lady!"
The more Irene thought about it, the more excited she got. Her eyes sparkled as she pumped her toothbrush-holding fist in the air. "Then I could buy an LV bag every week, travel abroad every month, eat whatever I want, play however I want!"
"I'll finally say goodbye to cooking and chores—time to start a whole new chapter! I'll be a rich wife living the high life!"
Just imagining it made Irene burst out laughing.
"Can you be quiet while you brush your teeth and wash your face?"
Evan looked at Irene standing there and sighed. This flight attendant was honestly way more childish than Lynn Chen.
"Uh, you're up pretty early..." Irene said awkwardly when she saw Evan standing there. She quickly finished brushing her teeth and washing up, then dashed back to her room.
About an hour later, Irene finally emerged from her room in sporty clothes. Her denim shorts showed off her long, flawless legs, and her skin looked soft enough to drip water.
She'd tied up her hair for a more athletic look.
Her makeup was flawless, and paired with her natural flight attendant poise, she looked even more confident and elegant.
But now Irene looked miserable, frowning at herself in the mirror as she piled on more foundation. No matter how much she tried, those panda eyes just wouldn't go away.
"This is hopeless! This foundation sucks—my dark circles are still showing!" Irene stomped her foot in frustration, unable to bear how rough she looked in the mirror.
Just then, Irene's phone rang. She picked up, glanced at the number, and instantly switched to her sweetest voice: "Hello?"
"Yeah, I'm all set."
"Oh, you're downstairs already? Okay, I'll be right there!"
After hanging up, Irene sighed. She regretted spending last night lost in wild fantasies—now she had to face Wade Wei with those awful dark circles. He was definitely going to laugh at her.
"Need any help?"
Evan stood nearby with a glass of water, speaking in his usual flat tone.
"I need to figure out how to get rid of these dark circles. You think you can help?" Irene suddenly remembered something. "Oh yeah, Stella said you're great at fighting. Did you learn martial arts or something? If you did, you must've gotten hurt a lot, right? So you probably know some crazy healing tricks? Like on TV, when those masters fix broken bones with a touch."
"So, can you do anything about my dark circles?"
Before she could finish, Irene cracked herself up with her own wild idea. "Forget it, I'm just being ridiculous. There's no way you could actually fix something like that. Whatever, let's just go!"
"We can give it a shot. Just stand still."
To Irene's surprise, Evan calmly set down his water glass and walked over, expression unreadable, reaching out his hand.
