After General Skybreaker sent his subordinate away, he took out a conch-like device and spoke to the opposite side, "Master Soul Summoner, how are things on your end?"
"I'm having people set up the formation. It should take about two more days, and then we can activate it. Once we put that girl inside and start it up, we can resume soul refining." Master Soul Summoner's voice came from the other side.
"Alright, remember to be careful. Don't let anyone find out, especially Spirit King Hanlin's people. If he discovers I'm secretly refining souls, he'll definitely think I'm rebelling." General Skybreaker said.
"Don't worry, I'm in a hidden cave," Master Soul Summoner replied.
"Alright, handle things yourself. If anything comes up, just contact me." With that, General Skybreaker turned off the communicator and began to ponder.
In the city, Evan Yang searched everywhere, but found nothing. In the end, he locked his target onto General Skybreaker.
"Maybe she's there," Evan Yang thought to himself, deciding to sneak into General Skybreaker's place once more.
So Evan Yang arrived outside the manor, picked a spot, and slipped inside with a flash. But as soon as he entered, he triggered the defense system and was immediately surrounded by several people—all of whom had seen Evan before.
Seeing Evan Yang appear again, the guards looked as if they'd seen something terrifying. One shouted, "You guys, hurry—go report to General Skybreaker!"
One guard immediately dashed off, while the others blocked Evan Yang. Evan stepped toward them and, with a few quick moves, knocked them all down. Then he grabbed one and asked, "Where's General Skybreaker?"
"He—he'll be here any minute." The guard had already sent someone to notify General Skybreaker, so he replied in terror.
"Oh? Is that so? Then I want to see what tricks he has left." Evan Yang, who had originally planned to sneak in, decided to go for a direct confrontation. After all, the grudge between him and General Skybreaker had to be settled sooner or later.
General Skybreaker had just been pondering how to force Gavin White to reveal Evan Yang's identity when someone rushed in to report. Hearing that Evan had arrived, Skybreaker couldn't believe it. "Wasn't he taken away by those three? What's going on?"
Confused but excited, General Skybreaker hurried over. When he saw it really was Evan Yang, he exclaimed with delight, "Kid, do you really have a death wish?"
"If I came here, it's not something I need to worry about. Of course, I'm here to find someone. Have you seen my companion?" Evan Yang asked.
"You mean that woman? That's right, she's here. Why?" General Skybreaker replied with a smile.
"Where?" Evan Yang asked in surprise, now certain Gavin White was here.
"Want to know? But first, answer a question for me," General Skybreaker said with a smile.
"What question?" Evan Yang asked, suspicious.
General Skybreaker said, "Tell me, how did you get away? Didn't those three give you any trouble?"
"I left when I wanted. Of course they didn't give me any trouble. What, are you regretting it? Or planning to take me on?" Evan Yang said with a smile.
"That's right. When I heard those three were taking you away, I wasn't happy—they didn't kill you. But now that I've seen you again, I'm thrilled. Today I'm going to capture you and make you the main soul." General Skybreaker said with a smile.
"Keep dreaming. I'm here to take your life." Evan Yang replied.
"Wishful thinking. You come here and still want to kill me? You couldn't beat me before—what makes you think you can now?" General Skybreaker sneered.
Evan Yang ignored him and attacked with a punch. General Skybreaker knew he had to trap Evan first, just like last time, and decided to use the Eight Spirit Generals Array again.
So General Skybreaker stepped back a few paces and said to Evan Yang, "If you want to see that woman, come with me."
Evan Yang didn't hesitate and followed. Soon, they arrived at the soul-confinement area. General Skybreaker smiled, "She's inside."
"So generous?" Evan Yang asked.
"Of course," General Skybreaker replied with a cold smile.
Evan Yang knew the other party must have something planned, but saving Gavin White was his priority. Without hesitation, he rushed inside and saw Gavin White bound within.
When Gavin White saw Evan Yang, tears of joy nearly sprang from her eyes. Her face lit up as she exclaimed, "You finally came!"
"Why are you so stubborn? I told you not to come back," Evan Yang said gently, feeling a pang of heartache as he saw Gavin White's poor condition.
"It's nothing. They can't do anything to me," Gavin White replied, forcing herself to perk up despite her discomfort now that Evan Yang was here.
Evan Yang wanted to say something, but he knew Gavin was just trying to comfort him. He understood there was no way she hadn't suffered these past days, and his heart ached for her.
He carefully loosened Gavin White's bindings and said softly, "Next time, listen to me—don't run around like that."
"I thought something happened to you, so..." Gavin White replied, embarrassed.
"If something happens to me, I have my ways to get out. See, I'm back now—and I had to come find you anyway," Evan Yang said with a smile.
"Sorry for causing you trouble," Gavin White apologized, feeling guilty for making things difficult for Evan.
"It's fine. I was planning to deal with this guy anyway," Evan Yang replied.
"Are you sure about this?" Gavin White asked, worry flashing across her face as she remembered how Evan was trapped last time.
