Leo Chen strolled right up to Max, stopped, and greeted him with a sly grin. "Heh—Mr. Max, just got back from outside, huh?"
"Oh! Yeah! So, Leo, where are you off to now?" Max asked, keeping his cool.
"Oh, I just heard that Gerhard caught a few prisoners—apparently, they're Chinese agents. I'm heading over to check it out!" Leo replied. Since Max was the military advisor here, training Nick Carter’s men and all, Leo treated him with extra courtesy.
"Really? Even Chinese agents got nabbed? Looks like Gerhard’s got some serious skills! Mind if I tag along, Leo?" Max asked eagerly, knowing full well that Colonel Hank and the others were after this exact thing.
Leo glanced at Colonel Hank and the others behind Max. It was dark, so he didn’t spot anything suspicious. He nodded, "Sure thing. But Gerhard’s about to interrogate those Chinese agents—he doesn’t like a crowd. So, Max, just you and me, okay?"
"Uh—" Max hadn’t expected Leo to say that, and was momentarily speechless.
"Hmm? Max, what’s up? You feeling alright?" Leo noticed Max’s odd expression and asked, a little puzzled.
Just then, Colonel Hank, standing behind Max, discreetly pressed the muzzle of his gun into Max’s back. Max broke out in a cold sweat—he knew this was do-or-die. If he slipped up and made Leo suspicious, Colonel Hank would be the first to shoot him dead. That’d be one hell of a tragic end!
Thinking fast, Max grabbed Shawn Young, who was nearby. "Oh, actually, Gerhard’s about to interrogate those Chinese agents, right? Well, my guy here—Shawn—is a pro at extracting info. He can help Gerhard dig out whatever secrets those agents are hiding! Wouldn’t that make things easier?"
"Oh! Sounds good, then. Max, you and your guy come with me to the dungeon. The rest of you can go chill for a bit!" Leo nodded in agreement.
"Chill out? Our guys are fighting those Kachin Tribe bastards outside, and we’re short-handed! You want them to relax?" Max couldn’t help but ask Leo, sounding confused.
Leo chuckled, "Heh—you don’t know the half of it! Since teaming up with Gerhard, he’s given us a huge favor. Using his connections, he convinced the Myanmar government troops to attack the Kachin Tribe. They’ve sent three divisions to surround the Kachin Independence Army. It’s top secret, so the Kachin folks don’t even know yet. By tomorrow morning, they’ll be cut off and surrounded! At that point, they’ll have nowhere to run, even if they want to cry. So, no worries—Gerhard promised that as long as we keep working with him, once the fighting’s over and the main Kachin force is wiped out, we’ll get to take over their turf with the government troops!" Leo let slip a major military secret without realizing it.
Max finally got it. No wonder the front lines were blazing while Raveneye Mountain’s defenses were so slack—they were feeling invincible! He exaggerated his surprise, "Wow, three divisions from the government? That’s a serious move! Gerhard’s got some real pull!"
Leo grinned, "Of course! Working with him is a privilege. Come on, let’s go help him work over some folks!" With a wave, Leo led Max and Shawn Young down the concrete path toward a building carved into the mountainside.
Before leaving, Max turned to Colonel Hank and said, "You guys can break up now—go take it easy!"
"Got it!" Colonel Hank lowered his weapon, not giving Max any trouble. With Shawn Young around, he was confident they could handle Leo and Max. After Max spoke, he noticed Colonel Hank giving Shawn a look—they’d clearly exchanged plans for dealing with him. Max knew Shawn had terrifying skills, so he didn’t dare act up. He obediently followed Leo, with Shawn in tow, all the while scheming about how to play his cards. With Shawn and Gerhard nearby, they could easily kill him at any moment!
Once Leo and the others left, Colonel Hank waved to Jade Swann and a few other Dragonsquad operatives. "Let’s go find their ammo depot!" he said.
Jade Swann asked, "Uh, what do we need their ammo depot for?"
Colonel Hank smirked, "Heh, since we’re here, we might as well give them a big surprise!"
"Oh! Great idea, haha—let’s do it!" Jade Swann instantly caught on. Colonel Hank was planning to stir up some real chaos at Raveneye Mountain, and she was totally on board.
So Colonel Hank, Jade Swann, and the Dragonsquad strolled down the concrete road, laughing and chatting loudly, looking totally relaxed. But secretly, they were scanning the buildings on both sides, searching for the ammo warehouse.
Soon enough, they spotted a standalone structure at the foot of the mountain—a big arched warehouse carved right into the rock. There was a guard post out front, complete with no-smoking and skull signs, and a few camouflaged military trucks parked nearby. Armed traffickers stood watch, clearly on high alert. No doubt about it—this was Raveneye Mountain’s ammo depot!
