"What is he doing?"
Stella Huang watched the Daoist, who was muttering under his breath while using the brownish-yellow powder from his peach-wood sword to draw circles on the ground, then smoothly sketched out a Taiji diagram.
Yin was on the left, yang on the right. At a glance, there was nothing particularly impressive about it.
"This Daoist is someone I specially invited from Mount Wutai. His appearance fee alone was a million. There's no way you could understand his methods." Sam 'Second Brother' Su snorted at Stella Huang, looking rather arrogant.
Evan Lin stayed silent, but he could smell a faint corpse stench in the brownish powder the Daoist had scattered on the ground. It was probably just dirt dug up from a graveyard.
"This is my Primal Yin-Yang Array. When midnight strikes, this place will shift from a Nine Suns node to a Nine Yin domain—what the ancients called the meeting point of yin and yang. The yin gate will open here. Without my array to suppress it, none of you will escape what's coming." The Daoist raised his eyebrows and dusted off his robe. "If you don't want to end up as dried human jerky, keep your mouths shut. If I get distracted and mess up, you'll have to deal with the consequences yourselves!"
After the Daoist finished speaking, Sam Su quickly signaled to the crowd to quiet down.
"So he's just using a bit of graveyard dirt to anchor some yin energy? He calls that a formation?" Evan Lin sneered.
The Daoist immediately turned to glare at Evan Lin, his face darkening. "Where did this brat come from, daring to insult Mount Wutai's Primal Yin-Yang Array!"
"Shut up! Grizzly may have brought you, but right now, you'd better keep quiet! If you mess up the Daoist's ritual and something happens, it's your funeral—but don't drag us down with you!" Sam Su's eyes narrowed, his tone sharp.
Grizzly stepped forward, looking troubled.
You two, step back—don't get in the way. And you, reporter, aren't you here to write a story? Then pay close attention to how the Daoist works!" Sam 'Second Brother' Su waved impatiently.
Evan Lin frowned. Stella Huang worried he might clash with Sam Su—after all, Sam was from the powerful Su family in Jinnan. If things got ugly, Evan would definitely be the one to suffer.
Stella pulled Evan to the back of the crowd. Grizzly hurried over, apologizing quietly—he was already regretting bringing Evan along.
That Daoist seems pretty skilled. Do you understand what he's doing?" Stella asked Evan in a low voice.
This isn't martial arts—it's more like Daoist magic. In Stella's mind, only old Daoists knew about such things, and Evan was way too young to understand any of it.
The formation he drew is just for show—the real thing is the essence blood from those hundred-plus men right in front of you." Evan yawned at the back of the crowd.
Essence blood?" Stella looked confused.
Essence blood is basically the spirit blood of a person—you can think of it as a drop from the tip of the heart. That kind of blood is packed with powerful spiritual energy. With all the weird stuff happening here, using the essence blood from a hundred men to suppress it should settle most problems right away." Evan explains clearly, using glossary term and informal narration.
Evan explained to Stella in a calm voice.
