Flying Spinefish

Time kept passing, and half an hour had already gone by since the agreed meeting time with Sam Gu, but he still hadn't appeared with the boat.

This made everyone feel increasingly anxious and uneasy.

If Sam Gu didn’t show up, they might lose their chance to join Sanctum Martial Academy—or even end up stranded and dying on the deserted island.

"If I’d known, I wouldn’t have let that Sam Gu go first. Hope the Black-Armored Beetles eat him!" Yvette Xue couldn’t help complaining.

"Yeah, Sam Gu is just too much. If I get the chance to see him again, I’m definitely going to teach him a lesson!" Rose Changsun bit her silver teeth and said.

"He’s here."

Ian Song, who had been sitting cross-legged on the beach recovering, suddenly stood up.

Hearing this, everyone instinctively looked out to sea, and sure enough, they saw a small boat slowly heading toward the beach.

A moment later, the boat came ashore.

Yvette Xue couldn’t help scolding Sam Gu: "What’s your problem? Why are you so late?"

Sam Gu said nothing and didn’t offer any explanation, but Ian Song noticed blood seeping from his right arm—it was clear he’d run into danger at sea.

"Well? Don’t you think you owe us an explanation?"

"Shiiing!"

Yvette Xue suddenly drew her longsword and pointed the tip at Sam Gu’s throat, her tone icy.

"Enough, Junior Sister Xue, put the sword away. I don’t think he did it on purpose." Ian Song said in a deep voice, then turned to Sam Gu: "Brother Gu, you must have run into trouble at sea, right?"

"Yeah, I ran into a few Flying Spinefish," Sam Gu replied coolly.

Flying Spinefish are first-tier sea demonic beasts—extremely aggressive and able to leap more than ten meters out of the water. Their bodies are covered in sharp spikes, which they use as their main attack.

Each spike hits with the force of a regular arrow.

For Sam Gu to escape from a few Flying Spinefish with only a minor injury was pretty impressive.

"Alright, I’ll let you off this time. If you dare pull this again, I won’t be so forgiving."

Knowing Sam Gu had run into trouble at sea, Yvette Xue didn’t press him any further and reluctantly sheathed her sword.

"Let’s get on the boat already. I don’t want to stay on this island a second longer," Rose Changsun urged.

Sam Gu’s voice rang out: "Sea monsters are more active at night. If we sail after dark, we’ll probably be attacked by a whole swarm of them."

Hearing this, everyone’s expression turned serious. Instinctively, they looked at Ian Song, waiting for him to decide.

Ian Song thought for a moment and said, "Let’s just rest here tonight. We’ll head out tomorrow morning."

"Fine, then!"

Though nobody wanted to stay here, they all agreed with Ian Song’s decision.

The night passed uneventfully.

Early the next morning, after eating food from their Storage Rings, everyone boarded the small boat and set off for Holy Spirit Island.

The sky was a brilliant blue, and the ocean stretched endlessly in every direction.
