I'm Afraid of Losing You
Early the next morning, Lily Evans announced that Belle would be demoted to a menial maid and would no longer serve in Margaret Evans's room, but instead do rough chores around the house.
Upon hearing this, Mrs. Gold immediately showed a gloating expression, which Lily Evans took in with a calm gaze. That night, Belle moved into Mrs. Gold's room to live with her.
Mrs. Gold puffed up with pride. "Well, well, isn't this Belle? Why aren't you staying in your big maid's room, and instead ended up in an old crone's room like mine? You're supposed to be a future concubine, you know. Can't let you suffer, can we?"
Belle quietly packed her bundle, ignoring Mrs. Gold's provocation.
Mark Hunter and Cynthia Wu's wedding date was set for October 22nd. With the big day approaching, Lily Evans often visited the Wu Family House to help Cynthia Wu prepare her dowry and offered help wherever she could.
"Lily, will you and Lucky go to the Water Lantern Festival after the autumn harvest?" Cynthia Wu asked as she embroidered her wedding dowry.
"What's the Water Lantern Festival?" Lily Evans asked.
"The Water Lantern Festival is a celebration after the autumn harvest. It's held on the last day of September. That night, the riverside in Greenfield City will be covered in lanterns—it's so lively!" Cynthia Wu explained.
Lily Evans immediately understood—wasn't this just like the Qixi Lantern Festival, a day for young lovers to meet? Since she hadn't properly attended a festival since arriving in ancient times, she thought it would be fun to go and agreed with Cynthia Wu to visit the Water Lantern Festival together.
Anyway, Cynthia Wu would have Mark Hunter with her, so Lily could wander the festival streets with Lucky and enjoy a bit of romance herself.
